The only one I can find from Ohio that is close is Judy Martins: https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/7266/

Judy went missing May 24, 1978 at age 22. So she is outside the age and date parameters but if she were taken and held for a few years, she would fit the description.

Her height is 62 to 64 inches so that lines up with the estimated height of the UID of 63 inches.

Judy disappeared from Kent State University which is only about an hours drive from where the remains were found: https://www.google.it/maps/dir/1080...d9f3901cbcc433!2m2!1d-81.3414649!2d41.1490629

(If anyone thinks Judy is a good possible, please feel free to submit. Thanks)

Sister of Dorothy Wood Madden has posted on Unidentified and Unclaimed FB group that this remains are being verified with her due to DNA hit. Dorothy went missing in 1975 from Loraine, Ohio, 20 miles where this Jane Doe was found in 1981. http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/madden_dorothy.html

I am currently in the process of my missing sisters remains being verified. To say I have a huge mix of feelings is an understatement. I look back and keep thinking what I could have done differently and thought I would share that with you.
I would never take for granted that the authorities were actively and consistently looking for her. I would have personally notified the FBI, State Police in all neighboring states as well as her origin of disappearance, Sheriff Departments,Local police in the surrounding areas. I would check every Coroner and/or Medical Examiners office in the state or nearby states and I would have had fliers made and sent to all these agency's. I did submit DNA when it became available,I did join NAMUS and The Charley and Doe networks. Verify that the info is correct and not just elaborated on, make sure it's your original posting and update eriodicall.

My sister disappeared in 1975 in Lorain Ohio. Remains were found in 3/9/81 in Columbia, OH (just 20 miles away) and have been sitting in a Coroners morgue for 36 years. No one processed available info and cross referenced. Only now are they being processed for verification after a DNA match was identified.
42 years of my life has been spent looking for my sister, agonizing over what could have happened and doing all I knew how to do.

So now I wait some more, no one is actively communicating with me,I have to keep reaching out and asking for specific details on the progress of this verification. I have had no one advise me or even provide me with any kind of map as to how to process this, a timeline or how proceed and claim my sister. I am 70 yrs old now, all other family is gone and there is literally no one grieving for her other than me. My family is caring and supportive,as are friends, but no one knows this heartache. Wish I knew of a victims advocacy group. I may start one.
The moral of this story? GO BIG, GO PUBLIC! Do not stop. Your loved one is somewhere and deserves to be accounted for.
I'd love some feedback, constructive please. Mostly want no one to go thru this totally unnecessary lifetime of heartache.

If this hit is confirmed and it is Dorothy Madden, it's another example of the difficulty in dating remains once remains are in a skeletal/mostly skeletal state. Namus had the estimated year of death listed between 1979-1981 and Dorothy went missing in 1975.

Al Ka, ty for posting this.

It's a powerful statement from a family member of a long unidentified person who is boldly giving some very frank advice to others who may be missing a loved one and to all of us who could at any moment be in that same situation of searching for someone we love. The timing, location, and investigative efforts, and lack thereof, remind me not to take for granted someone's case has been thoroughly looked at, investigated, compared, etc. We may have more answers here in the WS threads and elsewhere than we realize we have but for whatever reason we don't push that button to submit potential matches. I'm using the term "we" in a general sense. I am certainly not implying anything negative except possibly things like self-doubt, influential comments by others, assumptions made about MP's and UID's having been compared against one another b/c "surely investigators looked at her/his case when these remains were found, right?" or "but she went missing just a few miles away, they would have done a comparison, right?" or "it can't be him. He went missing in (East coast state) and the remains were found in (mid-Am. or West coast state)".

Personally, I think I'll be more diligent in following through on my hunches, espcially after getting feedback from other sleuthers. I get it's counterproductive to send a mass of potential matches without any real convincing facts or coincidences so as not to overwhelm investigators or deplete scarce resources but I'd rather know I submitted a potential match that wasn't one instead of wondering whether I should have made that submission. I have a few emails that must be sent, especially after reading this.

TY, again!
