Yes, isis called for followers to do that at Thanksgiving macy's parade, and to target places with crowds, like bastille. Thats why there was so much security.

The columbus dispatch has an article that states the alarm was pulled at 9:21, a student said they were out about 30 minutes waiting for investigators for the all clear. Iirc it was 9:52 that he jumped the curb with his car.

It seems the professor was in his dept

  • Faculty Emeritus, Materials Science Engineering

  • 476 Watts Hall
    2041 College Rd
    Columbus, OH 43210

I don't think that's correct. The professor is materials science - a science and engineering program - and had his office in Watts Hall.

But the attacker has been repeatedly identified (including weeks ago in the Ohio State newspaper) as studying logistics management, which is a business school program out of Fisher Hall.

There's no overlap in the curriculum:

Materials Science:

https://mse.osu.edu/mse-curriculum

https://undergrad.osu.edu/majors-and-academics/majors/detail/104

Logistics Management:

https://undergrad.osu.edu/majors-and-academics/majors/detail/100

Of course, people take courses outside their degree program, but there's been no indication that the professor was anyone other than a random victim of the attack.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...g-Ohio-state-knifeman-really-claiming-18.html

The Somali refugee who unleashed a brutal slashing rampage at the Ohio State University that left 11 injured on Monday, is just 18 years old according to NBC.

But with his balding hair, mustache and goatee, Abdul Razak Ali Artan has the appearance of someone who could be much older.
Authorities have not yet verified the terror suspect's age - but it is possible pretending to be younger could have helped Artan's immigration status in the US.

A young man gets to come to the US from Somalia. He can stay here and probably on the way to citizenship. He lives in a apt with electricity and running water, is driving a car and is a college student. (I would say there is no question who is footing the bill for all that). and he decides that this is the best thing for him to do? Imagine the differences from then to now.
Do we make people come here? For God's sake, if you don't like it, don't come here. Or France. Or Germany. Maybe try to make something of your own country. Be that person who inspires others to change, to want more.
I guess I'm saying, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

That's no surprise, it's in the refugee how-to handbook.

I do not think mental illness is a factor here. Granted some of them did, but I doubt it had anything to do with it. Elliot Rodger, Adam Lanza, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, and Seung-Hui Cho are injustice collectors. They are resentful at society. It is not just spree killers who are injustice collectors. Many terrorists are injustice collectors like Osama bin Laden, Mohamed Atta, Omar Mateen, and Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. There are even serial killers who would be considered injustice collectors like Aileen Wuornos, Richard Ramirez, Todd Kohlhepp, and Dean Corll. There are even female murderers who are injustice collectors like Jodi Arias, Betty Broderick, Gertrude Baniszewski, and Lori Drew.

I 100% agree with you on this. Everyone who does a crime is not mentally ill or unable to control what they are doing, it's just that they think the world owes them everything with no effort on their part. I say pick your lazy butts up an make a life for yourself. It's so much better when you know you did it for yourself!

At first I thought the prof was a target - and I thought the perp was taking some rage or revenge against a specific person and then just went haywire.

But it does seem like the prof was someone in the wrong place at the wrong time, along with the other victims.

So, the perp's plan was to drive into a crowd and he just happened to see one because of the fire alarm??

I'm not quite understanding what his plan was if the fire alarm is not connected to him.

Or did he have the plan in his mind for "some day" and yesterday just happened to provide the opportunity when he saw the crowd??

I think that's a possibility. He was ready to snap and something about yesterday triggered him. IMO it doesn't seem planned or well thought out.

And if someone can fake their age, then that shows us how little we really know about them at immigration. If we do not even know how old they are, what else do we not know?

But injustice collector is often seen with other mental illnesses or comorbid, so if the title applies it is likely at least a facet of another illness. So putting it all together the underlying illness likely does have something to do with the collecting, the manifesto, and the act.

In other words, IMO, you can't say someone is an injustice collector without also recognizing the person probably has a mental illness as well. The two often go together.

Wound collecting doesn't imply someone does not have a mental illness.

This is from your last link:

It is also recognized that many times the narcissistic personality, the paranoid personality, as well as the anti-social and the borderline personality disordered quite often themselves have traits of the wound collector. Those pathologies on their own are difficult enough to deal with; when they amalgamate with wound collecting, they command our attention as a potentiated co-morbid pathology.

eta: far too soon to dx the driver here but highly likely mental illness had something to do with it, wound collector or not.

Just because someone might have a mental illness, that does not mean they are not also a TERRORIST, imo.

Statistics can be tweaked to make it look however one wants it to look. Like that graph. It does not use the actual number of victims, but uses the number of attacks. Therefore 9/11 and the nearly 3000 dead souls are counted as ONE incident.

Also, it counts events since 1970. Yes, there were a ton of radical terrorists back in the day. But maybe we should count ACTUAL dead bodies since the year 2000, and see what those statistics say.

And that map with the red dots for Radical Muslim attacks dos not look accurate at all. I know of way more events than they have showing up on that map. I do not believe it is correct.

Not directed at you, katydid23 :seeya:, but I'm not sure why we need to see graphs on, or even discuss, mass shooting statistics and white men on this thread.

Yesterday's attack was neither a mass shooting, nor was it conducted by a white man.

Graphs and statistics on Muslim refugees/immigrants who committed terrorist acts/attacks on American soil and world-wide would be pertinent to this case, I'd think. Mass shootings and white men?

Fast-acting Ohio State officer praised for killing attacker

https://www.yahoo.com/news/quick-acting-ohio-state-officer-praised-killing-attacker-003634556.html

Officer Alan Horujko, who started on the university police force in January 2015, was responding to reports of a nearby gas leak when the car jumped a curb on campus at 9:52 a.m.

Horujko ordered the attacker, Abdul Razak Ali Artan, to drop the knife and then shot him when he didn't obey the command, university president Michael Drake said.

"The officer encountered the individual by 9:53 — the subject was neutralized by 9:53," Drake said, underscoring how quickly events unfolded.

For reference. Perspective. Knowledge.

Mass attacks, shootings, and terrorism might use different methods and the perpetrators might look different - but are their goals not the same?

And in the end who should we fear? Is deporting everyone the answer?

Looking at the statistics we can see no, that's not what will save us.

Of course their goal is to kill, it's their reasons for killing that differ. Jmo
