The victims, Rogell E. John II, 71, and his wife, Roberta R. John, 64, returned home from a vacation Sunday, according to Stark County Sheriff George Maier. There was no forced entry, Maier said at a Monday night press briefing. It is believed the suspect in this instance knew the victims. As of Monday evening, county sheriff deputies had no one in custody in connection with the homicides. Anytime there is a homicide you hope an arrest is imminent, Maier said. The home is in a suburban neighborhood about a mile northeast of North Canton. It was the couples son, who lives in Mount Vernon, who alerted local authorities. That telephone call came in at 4:16 p.m. Monday. The couples son became concerned when he was not able to contact his parents by phone during the day. Maier said when the son got off work Monday, he drove to Stark County.
