It would be a good idea to have LE create a case for him in Namus if they haven't already, and make sure your DNA is submitted so they can compare against unidentified deceased remains, just in case.

Thank you. I'll see how I can do that. Thank youGreat!
You also need to get it into CODIS, the LE matching system. It doesn't connect to Gedmatch.
I looked thru all my papers that I received back and I did file a FOIA for his SSN. There response was since they aren't showing him as deceased they can't release his SSN. I have also requested FOIA from the FBI. They can't confirm or deny due to privacy reasonsHave you attempted filing a request with the SSA for his SSN? If you provide his name, DOB, place of birth, and both parent's names, and pay a fee, they'll at least be able to see if he's already been reported as deceased - if he has then they should be able to release social security records for him. If he's not listed as deceased they won't be able to do anything (for obvious security reasons), but it might be worth a try in case he's already been declared deceased. https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ssa-711.pdf
Darn it!I have done 3 DNA test. No luck.
I actually did search bureau of prisons, he wasn't in there. I really don't know if he had a passport or not. Is there a way to find out if he had a passport? I haven't check state prisons individually.Forgive me if you already said you did this--have you tried to search to see if he's in prison somewhere?
Do you know if he had a passport?
The AWOL story i got from my aunt who got from her mother. I did write his mother multiple times over the years with no response. I have a copy of the marriage license, the witnesses on there are now deceased. They were Stephen's mother and step father. I believe if he did actually go into the Military that he would have done basic in San Diego as he was living and married in Oklahoma. Other than one uncle, one aunt, one great uncle, and the man that was married to my aunt that is deceased they have no information for me. My uncle mentioned one time that Stephen was in San Onofre California in (motor pool). I have searched newpapers for 1975-1980 with no luck. Im open to any suggestions that I could try. Thank you@Snoangel26 , upthread is posted that Mr. Murphy was in the Marine Corps, but went AWOL from custody/brig.
Do family members remember if he went to Basic at Parris Island or San Diego?
Do you have a copy of the marriage license? Who were the witnesses, have you contacted members of Mr. Murphy's family?
Anything to narrow this down.
Old genealogist here, agree with the suggestions already made, sounds like you've really searched.
Might be worthwhile to check newspaper archives for local papers? Sometimes leaving for the military was important & included in the paper:

I would hope the Tulsa Police Department would help her with getting her DNA on file, or point her in the right direction so they can get it into NamUs and CODIS.Does that mean someone can walk her through how to get her DNA on file with NAMUS/CODIS so they can get a profile to compare against UIDs who have samples already processed?

I have done dna test with ancestry, 23andme, my heritage, I also have them uploaded to Gedmatch and FTDNA. So far nothing close for him. No siblings show up.Also, I wonder if she's tried 23&Me or Ancestry or GedMatch? Perhaps Mr. Murphy later had another child?
This was a tumultuous time in the US. A friend's uncle left for Viet Nam -- and couldn't find his wife & 2 children after he returned. She had divorced him & left the area.
There was no Internet, no good way for him to locate his children.
He eventually remarried and has 2 more children.
His daughter (first marriage) did find her Dad in the '90's, and the 2 additional brothers. The 4 adult children have vacationed together & get along fine.
Two of the boys have the same first name, both named for Dad's father with different Moms, different states, different decades.
No idea if this happened to anyone else, but I don't feel that our OP has anything like the full story here.

Anyone (whom you haven't identified) who shows up as being in the 1st-2nd cousin range? Some people in his birth year already have grandchildren and even great grandchildren. If you've got some unidentified matches with lower CMs that would fall into that range (like ~300-1000), those could be children/grandchildren of a half sibling.I have done dna test with ancestry, 23andme, my heritage, I also have them uploaded to Gedmatch and FTDNA. So far nothing close for him. No siblings show up.
I’m happy to build out a family tree using your matches if you’d like.I have done dna test with ancestry, 23andme, my heritage, I also have them uploaded to Gedmatch and FTDNA. So far nothing close for him. No siblings show up.
