Two months before a forest service worker found Heather Mallory's body, police set up a wiretap on her husband's cell phone, the man now on trial accused of murdering her.
~snip~
After the wiretap was set up, police talked to just about everybody in Brian Cole's life except him, giving the impression they had found Mallory. Cole got wind of it and police listened to see how he would react.
The wiretap audio recorded by Portland investigators in April 2010 was played in court Wednesday. It captured Coles conversations with his mother, stepfather and Mallorys father, Steve.
