Nada on the news that I’ve seen. However, I only got home at 6 pm and local TV is currently dominated by election primary news. I so wanted to go to the courthouse today, but my work schedule prevailed. I’m disappointed to find very little info from the news stations. IMO

I did a quick court docket search. The arraignment for today is still showing as status “scheduled”. I assume it did happen, as this item appears new: Sex Offense Court FA/PTC scheduled for March 19.

The other charge that we knew about that was unrelated to Nalani was Permit Unlicensed Dr. That charges shows “Guilty” as of 2/27/20 and awaiting sentencing.

Additionally, the Sex Offender Court will provide a vehicle for improved communication and organization among the various agencies involved in sex offense cases. This specialized court will open in the state’s Fifth Judicial District, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, on June 23, 2011.

I sure hope this isn’t a lead up to a plea deal that involved the sexual abuse of that little girl.

Circling back. It is frustrating to still have no updates from local Pittsburgh media on the Sharena Nancy arraignment for the homicide charge. I have emailed the Trib and WPXI to ask them to provide an update.

From a brief review of Allegheny County Sex Offense Court, it appears any case with a qualifying charge gets put on the specialty court's track. I'm not sure how this factors in with the rest of her charges though.

You did fine, and that’s an informative and well-done first post. This would explain the upcoming court date. I’m still concerned it may be part of a plea deal, as there wouldn’t be a rush to assign the RSO designation if she was heading to trial for homicide. But it may be procedure. I’m just worried by the lack of news.

I received a response from Rep. Tim Briggs regarding the status of PA House Bill 2295, the “Nalani Johnson Rule“ to amend the Amber Alert System Law. He states that no action has yet been taken, but he will speak to the Majority Chair or his staff.

I’m not letting this go.

I don’t understand what is happening with this case. Back in June, the docket said a jury trial was scheduled for 10/29 at 9 am.

As of today, it now says ‘Status Hearing’, still scheduled for 10/29, new time is 11 am.

Allegheny County initially reopened in June but quickly shut down again in July. The jury trials are finally resuming starting next week. Unfortunately, it will probably be a while until there is some movement on this case Thinking of Nalani.
