A bit more than a year ago, he did an outdoor concert in a small venue in Macon. (For those who followed the Lauren Giddings case, it was in Washington Park, where "Lauren's bench" is located.) I didn't get to go, but my daughter and one of my nieces did. I'm really glad they got to hear him. I would have loved to! See my third link above for some brief clips from that concert and some interesting back story.

Percy Sledge, the soul singer who belted out the hit "When a Man Loves a Woman," died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Tuesday morning. The cause of death was liver cancer, his manager Steve Green tells Rolling Stone. He was 74.
