Report: Joran Van Der Sloot to be Represented by Fujimori's Lawyer
By Jeralyn, Section Crime in the News
Posted on Tue Jun 15, 2010 at 12:35:34 PM EST

"El Commercio and Peru 21 are reporting that Joran Van der Sloot is getting a new attorney -- Cesar Nakasaki, attorney for former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori. Nakasaki says he cannot confirm the information."

and

"Peru 21 reports Joran's former U.S. lawyer, Joe Tacopina, who obtained the dismissal of the Holloway family's civil suit for wrongful death against him on jurisdictional grounds, is presumed to be going to Peru. That sounds like a rumor to me, he's probably just trying to help Joran obtain new counsel. Dutch News is reporting the same."

and

"And, there may be a new witness: Another "friend of Joran's", Erick Cabrera Cabrera, who reportedly was present in the casino the day Joran and Stephany Flores played poker together."

oh i bet that is right, i didn't see toilet paper in that cell when camera showed, did you all?

From what I read recently, toilet paper is a western thang. In many foreign countries, they use a water flled bucket to clean their "bits". Saying it's much more efficient than us westeners rubbing paper all around ;)

As we all know JVS loves to lie...And I have been going over his confession and found something interesting (not that I believe half of it anyway)...If SF was sitting to JVS left when she supposedly read the email on the laptop, since JVS claims she hit him on the left side of his head, How could he have immediately elbowed her with his right elbow? As he has also claimed...Makes no sense that someone sitting on your right would hit you on the left side of your head....Again I take this whole confession with a box of salt, but the devil is in the details and I think this is one of the details that will show that he also lied through this confession.

Oh goodnight nurse! He will, he won't and he will and he won't...dang he is perfect for JVS...he can never make up his mind what he did/didn't do either....carp they deserve each other:loser::loser:

Someone came up with the money to pay him in my humble opinion. Suddenly some deep pockets. Perhaps Dutch media paying mom for exclusives?

I think he ate but didn't want to see the visitor. That was my interpretation anyway.

Not that it's important in any way shape or form - but do we know what finally got him to eat? Steak perhaps? Lobster?

JVS is a piece of work huh?

Two years? Holy cow, why so long? Do they have court like we do, a 6-8 hr day, every day till its finished? The wheels certainly appear to turn s l o w l y there. jmo

abbie

I pray the transplant is a huge success......I will pray for her

I pray that when the Aruban officials finally do make it to Peru, that Peru does not let them have his laptop without first getting the Judges approval to check out that laptop, I can just see the Aruban Authorities say well there was nothing found on the laptop, But if Peru has gone thru it with a fine tooth comb first then I think we will be able to find out what exactly is on that laptop.

Let’s put his situation in terms Sloot would understand. He is playing Peru Justice Hold ‘Em. Sloot has drawn a 2 of Hearts and a 3 of Diamonds. The “River” is ready to be set down and the facing cards are:

K h Q d 4 c 8 h

In other words, Sloot has nothing. And he has no chips left. What does Sloot, the master of the poker universe. do?

He can’t go All In. Naturally, he wants to bluff. So he reaches outside the game and comes up with whet the thinks is valuable to the prosecutor he is playing against:

“If you let me out of the game, give me the Pot and grubstake me back to Aruba, when I get there I will tell you where I buried a big treasure.

That is when he gets his knees capped.

Bad example. Looks like he has a flush draw with the hearts. Right now Joran is praying for such a miracle.

Maybe that's why mommy hasn't left Aruba......she's fishing for the cash to
help her playboy gambling sociopathic murdering son.

I'm thinking not unlike most thugs/murderers, they'll decide to be cordial (if you will) with him until they decide not to.

Of course they are being 'nice' to Joran now. They want to find out how he can be of use to them...money, extra food, drugs, ect. He will be ok, as long as he has something that they can share, buy, or steal. If he has nothing to offer then he is just taking up their space.

Wonder if the "Ant's" know about this...they lie so easily it's shameful

That could be it! I posted a link earlier which said she was scheduled to arrive later this week with a TV crew!

O/T-----Patty G, I would like to let you know that I have been a member here since the Scott Peterson case, And I can tell you that in all of that time I have not seen another poster that is as committed as you are (all the mods rock and god knows we could not enjoy this site without them) But Patty you add so much to this site that I just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated and how valuable you are to this site.....THANK YOU SO MUCH....

I watched NG last night and saw the e-mail Joran sent the friend asking for money so that he could get back to Aruba. I am not so sure that he wanted the money to return to Aruba, but was trying to get money to finance the big poker tournament that was coming up in Lima. I'll bet police found a lot of e-mails sent by Joran to friends asking for money so that he could continue gambling. I wouldn't be surprised if he were hatching yet another scheme on Beth to get even more money from her. He is a compulsive gambler and gambling is what he breathed all day, every day.

My goodness - can you imagine blowing thru 25K in a few short weeks, then begging friends to send you money for a ticket you never intended to purchase (IMO). He sure was/is a lying scheming fool.

What's worse is how the 25K was obtained - from Beth Holloway :(

FLNY ~ Thanks for info. And I really like your quote by Elvis...so true! :)

I'd be too scared to go if I were his Mom.

I agree! If the jail had computer access I would opt for a webcam visit only

Thank you so much for your kind words. :blowkiss:

Shoot him an email (after he tells Aruba where she is) saying, "Yeah, we lied"?

Ironically, and perhaps unfortunately, he would not BE ABLE to understand the FAIRNESS in that.

However long, where ever, he serves this prison sentence, at the end of his sentence, he'll be extradited to the U.S. The max sentence for the wire fraud charge is 30 years, and I'd bet the farm he'll get all 30 available. And Fed. time, is by and large, real time (w/ only a little good time to get out a little sooner, but there's no parole to cut the sentence in half).

Alabama can also charge (and convict) him with the same crimes since they are a separate sovereign from the Feds. (i.e., no double jeopardy issues).

So, really, it doesn't matter what Aruba does. If I were Aruba at this point (not if I was Aruba the island, Aruba the government :), I'd grant him absolute immunity (from punishment) in exchange for NH's body (but not if he cannot produce her remains...i.e., dumped her in the ocean), provided NH's family was agreeable. That is to say, I would do whatever would bring NH's family closure/peace at this point if I were Aruba. JVS is going to be well into his 60's before he sees the light of day in the free world again, even without NH consequences.

Good post, Cottages. The thing is... IMO, Aruba doesn't want any further investigation into the whereabouts of Natalee because it will expose the extent of their cover-up and corruption since day one of her disappearance. I don't think the murder of Stephany will all of a sudden make them want to co-operate any more than they ever did, which was nil. On the contrary, I think they're quaking in their boots that all their skeletons will finally be revealed. They just want this to all go away and the focus to be off them. Now, with Joran's help that's not gonna happen. Just my opinion.
