Plane crashes into stands-Reno

There are 10 dead as of this morning. I've been watching the planes fly home over the Sierras for 3 days now - and run outside to send them blessings for a safe return. We in Reno can't even process this tragedy - just praying & weeping for all the families.

If it weren't for EMS and civilians alike assisting the injured the death toll would have been higher. Thankfully they were there and able to get so many to the hospitals so quickly.

:prayer:

I so regret watching the videos, I must have seen the most graphic and the horrible images are burned into my mind.

My ex was an airforce pilot so I've spent a lot of time around airshows and such, I can't imagine the shock and horror these people have lived thru.

Praying for all those impacted and recovery for those injured...

My friend Naomi is safely back in Wa state now. I'm gonna give her a hug from all of us....

I noticed one of the missing women's husband was killed. If they were together it seems she would have been also.........

I believe that these people are not "missing" as in not found....but missing as in not yet identified by authorities......

I just returned home to Florida from the Reno Air Races. My husband is a race pilot and Jimmy was a friend. This is an awful tragedy for our sport aviation community. It is clear from the photos that the initial high G pull left Jimmy unconscious and unable to do any more. The race pilots and their families know the risks but it is so sad when spectators are killed.

One of the missing women has been identified. Dear Lord help this family and give them strength to get through this.

Cheryl Elvin, of Lenexa, Kan., was confirmed deceased on Tuesday while news reports in Kansas City, Mo., reported Monday that her husband, Chuck, sons Bill and Brian Elvin, and Brian’s wife, Linda, were being treated in the hospital for amputations.

“All four have lost some part of their right leg either at or above or below the knee,” wrote Rachel Elvin, whose husband is Bill Elvin.

That is absolutely heartbreaking. What this family will have to go through both mentally and physically for the rest of their lives is unimaginable. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Experts: Disclaimer on Reno Air Races ticket won't stop civil lawsuits

The disclaimer on Reno National Championship Air Race tickets saying the holder of the ticket assumes responsibility for any injures suffered while attending the event will not stop victims of last week’s crash from collecting through civil lawsuits, legal experts said Wednesday.

Reno Air Races crash beyond scope of FAA safety precautions

Federal Aviation Administration documents show the agency had requirements to keep spectators safe at the National Championship Air Races, including maps of projected "debris fields" in case aircraft broke apart while aiming at the crowd during turns.

But the Sept. 16 crash that claimed 11 lives and injured dozens more spectators, didn't fit any of those expected scenarios.
