The first person I thought of when I heard this story was Tammy Lynn Leppart. I'm sure her sister is well aware of the story and I wonder if she would be able to access some of the photos that weren't released.

Great work on the matches. I think the Purple Hiphuggers and the gal in the yellow bikini are extremely high probability matches.

Leppart is not a possibility. She went missing in 1983; Alcala was in jail by then.

Looks like a match to me.

There is a "puffiness" (for lack of a better word) that goes down from the bridge of the nose and under the eyes of both girls. Also, both girls have the same distinct tip of the nose / nostril area. Many similarities.

Excellent find, Mr. E.

The resemblance is amazing!

Mary Trlica disappeared along with two other girls. The three friends were shopping together at the mall and simply vanished. All three are still missing.

The other two missing girls are Lisa Renee Wilson and Julie Ann Moseley.

I wonder if that is a a mole on Mary's right cheek or just some kind of blemish on the photo? Looks good otherwise.

That long poster on the wall behind the record player one of three parts of the Hieronymus Bosch painting "The Garden of Earthly Delights." A portion of it was used as the cover for Deep Purple's 1969 self-titled album, though it was black & white on the album cover. (Thanks to my husband for recognizing the painting!) Alcala's poster is the third of the tryptich that represents Hell.

Also, "Labguy," whose website showcases early VCRs, got back to me about an ID for the Sony Videocorder shown in the photo above. He's awesome for helping out on this:

Thank you for writing. The Videocorder in the picture is a Sony TCV-2010D. It is a CV-2000 VTR with a built in video monitor similar to the later model TCV-2110 shown on my site: <http://www.labguysworld.com/Sony_TCV-2110.htm>. The 2010 "D" had the decorative walnut case and the fancy clock timer for unattended recording.

The photos on the Nancy Grace site are disturbing when taken in context. I hope this effort does some good.

So if the Sony TCV-2110 on his site is from 1967 and Alcala's TCV-2010D is even older, it probably cost quite a bit if he bought it new and I wonder why he owned one. I wonder if any tapes were ever found in his storage locker?

ETA: That other painting is signed by Modigliani and although I can't find the same painting online, the signature matches the way he signed his other works.

There's an active thread for the missing Fort Worth Three:

"Cymro" has just posted the possible matching photos there.

Has anyone submitted these matches yet-- like Debra Kidwell, the girl in purple bellbottoms, and Sherry Pickle all looked good to me. I'd love to hear what the result ends up being!
I wish LE would tell us which photos have been ID'd - even if they don't tell us who they are, just which ones were accounted for.

Oh! And Tut med, I definitely hope you submit Dorothy Clitheroe... amazing resemblance!

Same here! I was just going to ask if there was a place where they are updated? I'll sleuth around and see what I can find out.

Those decorations are so stereotypically the 70's that I want to laugh when I look at them. We had the Bosch print, the Cream album, the Beatles poster...

Typically, guys had really expensive stereos like that so they could say to a girl, "Wanna come up and listen to some music? I've got a really cool stereo."

Here's an article today with an update regarding identifications. Looks to me like there's still a long way to go:

"The two women who identified themselves from the photos were children when they were taken, but are now in their 40s. Police are not releasing their identities, thought they did say the women live in California.

Authorities have also gotten tips about as many as four other women who could be dead or missing." <snipped>

Now that we can enlarge the pic's (click on them again) on NG's site, I am observing more clues.

Napsack on guy reads "USN U Gas Mask ND Mark. Also he looks like a photographer as does the guy behind him. A concert maybe??

http://cnnnancygrace.files.wordpress.com/2010/03/01431.jpg
I think this one was taken in NYC or he brought back the poster on the wall. Celebrate Antiquity in Greenwich Village. The painting on the wall is from famous artist Amedeo Modigliani.
Martin Paints (box in background) Only one store and it was in Staten Island.

Nice work.

The ropes are part of a pink swing. The swing is for poses and is also a sex toy. Common at the time.

He is known to have lived in Greenwich for several years, so this is probably that apartment? Certainly could have acquired all those arty things there.

The gas mask bag is probably army/navy surplus, another thing that was popular at the time. I think you could be right about the event being a concert.

This is a attempt to help anyone trying to match up victims to missing persons with a timeline. If anyone wants to improve this-please feel free to do so.

after doing this I wonder about Dorothy Clitheroe-since she went missing 9/20/73-if was in prison at this time-wonder if the dates are correct????????? help anyone

The timeline makes any connection with Dorothy Clitheroe's disappearance problematic, it would seem. I did a little searching and found he was released from prison on August 3, 1974 after serving almost three years for the rape and attempted murder of the 8-year old girl in Hollywood in 1968. So it seems he was incarcerated at the time Dorothy went missing in September of 1973.

There’s also a possible problem with connecting him to the disappearance of Mary Rachel Trlica and her two friends from Ft. Worth on December 23, 1974.

excerpt:
In 1974, two months after he got out of state prison (this would be around October), Alcala was found at Bolsa Chica State Beach with a 13-year-old girl who claimed he'd kidnapped her. He was convicted only of violating parole and giving pot to a minor, however, and two years later, upon his second release from prison, the law went easy on Alcala again...

http://victimsheartland.forumotion....dney-alcala-the-fine-art-of-killing-t2717.htm

So, unless he was released on bail pending trial and managed to make his way to Texas in December of 1974, he’s probably not involved in the disappearance of the Ft. Worth trio.

I still think the photo resemblances to Dorothy Clitheroe and Mary Trlica are striking.

Typically, guys had really expensive stereos like that so they could say to a girl, "Wanna come up and listen to some music? I've got a really cool stereo."

I was just looking at how many of the pictures were of women listening to music in the same room. I am too young to remember, but am assuming that's a normal way of getting women up to your apartment. You also see the same stereo stand in the "blue room", which was obviously a different apartment.

Good work on the timeline, tut med!

I'm trying to find out the exact day he was released from prison in 1976. So far, no luck. I was able to find one reference to the first release on August 3, 1974 and the Bolsa Chica arrest happening a couple of months later (but no firm date on this).

According to one article I read (I'll try to retrieve the link), the authorities in New York think he may be responsible for as many as 50 murders there!
Another Ted Bundy, it would appear...

wish we had an update of which pics were identified it would really help
