I am really surprised we haven't seen an arrest yet, or at least some credible confirmed sightings.

I agree with everything you said...because it's rational. But can someone with clearly irrational behavior and a gambling addiction resist the temptation? I wonder.

I wonder what the final destination Stephens has in mind. He may have taken I-71N to Erie. It's possible he is headed to Canada, not sure and IMO opinion only.

Long before becoming a murderer in a Facebook video, Steve Stephens kept track of his life on YouTube — and showed no signs of trouble.

The YouTube account for Stephens, who remains on the run after publicly shooting a stranger, displayed the innocuous side of the man who would become the subject of an interstate manhunt.
His account, under the name Triple Jointed TV, showed him fishing, bowling and bonding with a little boy.
Stephens had uploaded 19 videos since September 2015, all of them simple snippets from his life in Cleveland.

He just seemed so normal after watching those videos. Why would he do this? I don't understand.

Me, too. Would he kill himself in a random, remote place, just to keep this going?? Ugh, I hate to think that way, but I feel like it's possible.

Thoughts?

That was really nice for the Godwin family to say

"The Godwin family also tells me they want Steve Stephen's ex-girlfriend to know this is NOT her fault. She should NOT feel responsible"

They also gave pictures of how they want him remembered. A perfect response to a tragic situation.
They are amazing and have all our respect and condolences.

JMO, this seems to be triggered in part by his gambling addiction, on top of his somewhat histrionic personality.

Sounds like he's been gambling for a while. Went through bankruptcy already. Has probably spent many years hitting up his family, girlfriend and friends for money when he gambled his own earnings away.

His mom has probably had him come begging for money many times and has probably heard all the threats about "I'm depressed! I've (lost home, lost car, etc.) because of gambling and if you don't give me money I will kill myself." I've never personally experienced it, but have heard its terrible living with a gambling addict, at least as bad as living with a junkie. They steal, lie, beg for loans and never pay them back, etc.

Sounds like family and girlfriend finally gave him some tough love after he failed to deal with his gambling problems. His response was to behave like a spoiled child - go on a rant, talk trash on facebook, pretend everyone treats him badly, then kill an innocent old man just to get everyone's attention. He's an incredibly selfish, self-absorbed person who wants to take the lives of innocent people in order to "punish" those who stopped allowing him to use and abuse them.

I also seriously doubt he told his mother he was going to kill someone. He made that statement as a way of blaming her for his own problems, as punishment for not giving him money.

He's also unlikely to commit suicide, seems to narcissistic for that. Maybe suicide by cops or turning himself in. JMO

.

Good post. His mom admitted he told her he was suicidal and homicidal but can't look for it I'm at work.

This is so sad on so many levels. I also believe he will go to the casino when his money runs low. I did not even know about this until this evening when driving home on 75 just north of Detroit I saw a large billboard with his picture.

I have to say, that casino theory makes a lot of sense to me. Hopefully LE is thinking similarly. A man with homicidal urges, a gun and a grudge could do a lot of damage quickly in a crowded casino setting :(

That is a good sign that the billboards are working to get the word out.

LE is turning the tables on him. Instead of us being afraid of him he needs to be afraid of being caught by LE. He needs to see that he is being looked for by everyone wherever he goes.

Hopefully he will realize it is futile to keep running and give up peacefully.

I think this guy is deceased, or someone is hiding him.

I'm not blaming the Mom but I don't understand if he went to his mom telling her her was suicidal and homicidal I wonder why she didn't notify authorities? I guess she didn't believe him but being it was out of character I would have taken him seriously probably because my own adult son is bi-polar so I would have him self commit on 5150 or called authorities. It's so bizarre SS helped so many kids counseling with mental and family issues then turns around and has a psychotic break. His other FB videos of him fishing and going to the game with his friend he seems like a nice normal friendly guy. It's so weird even when SS got out to shoot that poor man he said "Hi" started off being friendly. Strange how the mind can go off kilter so quickly.

I kinda get the feeling that he had a history of crying suicide. Cry wolf. Did it again the night before, then kills a defensive person - more about now would you believe me. He kept calling everyone to see if they saw it - it just hits me that is a de claration would any believe me that I want to kill myself.

I watched the video. I know i'm not alone in that fact. I don't think we who viewed it are sick, heartless, "Gore Voyeurs" who enjoy seeing cold blooded murders. I also don't think it was somehow disrespectful of the victim, to want to know the truth about his last moments.

I'ts not like I shared it on my SM, or somehow "enjoyed" the event. I viewed it in the privacy of my home, in order to see for myself the truth of what happened, which is often missing from second hand retellings. ( or woefully inaccurate MSM accounts!). I watched it with total respect, and reverence, for Mr Goodwin's last moments here with us, not out of some morbid fascination.

When horrific murders occur I always have the same questions...

What was the killer's frame of mind, was he shaky? Did he hesitate? Did he seem to have any second thoughts? What does a person look like when they are about to do such a terrible thing? Can we learn anything?

Did the victim suffer long, or was there the smallest of mercy, in that it might not have been a long painful demise?
It is not often we are afforded the answered to questions such as these...

Yes it was a terrible shocking thing to see, but I am glad that I do know what exactly happened, and I don't have to rely on hearsay.
He was a graceful, dignified person, and it showed. Such a tragic loss of a beautiful person. I am grateful to know he did not suffer.

I am not some kind of a monster. I am just a human being who wanted to see the truth about what happened to a kindly man I've never met. And face the reality of the "others" in this world, who look human but are really just Evil.

He frequented Jack Casino in Cleveland as he mentioned in the video. He was well know at the casino. He was kicked out recently stealing money from another player. One worker said he was there daily playing craps.

Facebook Video Killer Steve Stephens Known to Cleveland’s JACK Casino as Big Gambler, Big Loser
[/h]APRIL 17, 2017 BY KATIE BARLOWE

Steve Stephens, the man who brutally killed a defenseless elderly man on Easter Sunday and then posted video of the murder on Facebook, has admitted to having a gambling problem and was reportedly recently thrown out of a Cleveland casino.

.........
His trouble at the casinos, however, did not end. He was reportedly a frequent visitor to the JACK Cleveland Casino and one casino worker who did not want to be named posted on social media that Stephens was thrown out of the casino a few weeks ago for allegedly stealing money from another player. Another employee who also wished to go unnamed said he didn’t know much about him, but that he played mostly craps and was “there like every day.”

Agree. I dont see him offing himself at all in this case.

So many cases killers are so quick to kill other people and yet when it comes to offing themself Ive seen way too many where they just dont do it.

Theres been too much death already so hope he just gives up peacefully.

I'm going to play the devils advocate here I think he will take the cowardly way out and commit suicide.
