She would only confirm the search are for human remains, though a State Police spokesman said this morning police are following up on a lead that the body may be Peterson's.
Ingersoll noted weather may be a factor in today's excavation. With a forecast for heavy rains, police will be hesitant to unearth a body and have the rains possibly wash away evidence.
Meanwhile, Pam Bosco, who has been the spokesperson for Stacy's family, tells WBBM-Radio the family is hopeful, but wary, that the Stacy's remains may finally be found.
She said investigators notified the family yesterday but said police told her reports from the TMZ celebrity gossip website, which first broke the story, are mostly untrue. That report claims Drew Peterson told an inmate how he killed Stacy and where he buried her body. Police only told the family that they had a "good lead", according to Bosco's WMMB interview.
Stacy, 23, was Drew Peterson's fourth wife. She disappeared on 2007 from their Bolingbrook home. Peterson is currently jailed and awaiting trial for the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, back in 2003.
