Poland, one of Ukraine’s staunchest allies, has announced an end to its arms transfers to the country, a day after President Volodymyr Zelenskiy accused Warsaw of playing into Russia’s hands by banning Ukrainian grain imports.

Poland is one of Kyiv’s main weapons suppliers and has been one of the loudest cheerleaders for the Ukrainian cause since the full-scale invasion began last February, but relations have soured over recent days amid the growing row over grain.

The argument has led to heated rhetoric between the two countries on the sidelines of the UN general assembly, with the Polish president, Andrzej Duda, comparing Ukraine to “a drowning person clinging to anything available”.

"We are no longer transferring weapons to Ukraine, because we are now arming Poland with more modern weapons," the prime minister said.

He was adamant Poland was helping Ukraine defeat the "Russian barbarian" by maintaining a military hub, but would not agree to Poland's markets being destabilised by grain imports, Polish state news agency Pap reported.

"Our hub in Rzeszow, in agreement with the Americans and Nato, is fulfilling the same role the whole time as it has fulfilled and will fulfil."

Poland's military hardware has been depleted by about a third through transfers to Ukraine and Warsaw is in the process of replacing it with modern Western-produced kit.

Arms exports to Ukraine will not stop completely as Polish manufacturer PGZ is due to send about 60 Krab artillery weapons in the coming months. Government spokesman Piotr Muller later clarified that only previously agreed deliveries of ammunition and armaments would be delivered, including those from contracts signed with Ukraine.

Agreed. The problem with Vietnam and Afghanistan, was that the United States never actually declared war. And this is what is happening with Ukraine, we no longer take a stand. We will throw money, training, weapons...but hold back on actually going all in...Operation Desert Storm was probably the closest thing we have come to "being all in" since WW II.
I think the reason for not going "all in" , as in American Boots on the ground (if that is what you are referring to), is the fear that the madman in Russia will use nuclear weapons. Personally I think he is "mad" enough to do it- then go to his underground bunker.

Pletenchuk was asked about comments made by Ukrainian authorities earlier Monday, claiming that Adm. Viktor Sokolov along with 33 other officers were killed and more than 100 servicemen were wounded in Friday's attack in Sevastopol.

Pletenchuk said Russian President Vladimir Putin "does not control the actual operation of ships at sea" and relies on his admirals who know "their means and forces, personnel, how to manage them, how to better deploy them. And they can also keep things from him [Putin], not report on certain issues."

He then claimed, "At this moment, they (the Russian Navy) lost the person who actually manages all of this, and his staff, who manages the fleet together with him. This is a large grouping that requires a great number of managers to run all the processes to make it (the fleet)work as a single mechanism. Imagine that the core part of this mechanism becomes inoperable."

Pletenchuk went on to say that "yes, last night they (referring to the Russian ships in the Black Sea) were still launching strikes by inertia" but he compared the operations to "a chicken running around without a head."

"Therefore, as of now, they (the Russian navy) will have respective problems with the control of the troops," he said.

Earlier on Monday, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces said Sokolov has been killed in Sevastopol on Friday, in perhaps the most daring attack by Ukrainian forces on Crimea so far.
