I wonder what on earth he and his solicitor, or Barrister talk about during visiting hours? if he is saying nothing about the entire event of Mrs. Murphy and the missing body, what do they talk about?
when would the defense get to review the evidence against PS?

I would imagine his atty would be asking him: how he is getting along, if he is subject to any further interrogation, if he has suitable food, medicine, if he has alibis for certain times, if he has character witnesses, questions about his vehicles, phone, job, friends, etc.

Redan’s chances this footy season ?… no we aren’t aware of any involvement there since the under 19’s days…

My understanding of that time frame is, the summary hearing is AUG 6th. and his defence gets the bundle 2 weeks before that. This is par for the course and nothing unusual or extraordinary about that , bearing in mind, his barrister/solicitor can speak with him any time, for hours if needed. So, it is presumed, his barrister/ solicitor knows everything.

Everything, that is, that Mr S is willing to tell even his own barrister/solicitor. Some people are just difficult clients. Every barrister has stories about these that would curl your hair, and they are not rare.

I am convinced it is of a visual nature, with sound. To me, the police detectives must have actually seen and heard this murder take place. on some sort of recording device, of reasonable quality to firmly identify anyone in it.

This sounds outrageous, but no more outrageous than the Commander of Police claiming on public television that Mrs. Murphy is dead, not just dead, but murdered, and where she was murdered, (Mt.Clear) and when, (Sunday morning ) and by whom. Ergo.. this young fellow from a local community. We have not seen , or even found the body as yet .

All these things are fraught with such civic implications if they are wrong..

Because VICPOL say Samantha is deceased ( no one has seen her body ) her driving licence is cancelled, the titles to her property are transferred, her Medicare card is cancelled, all her bank accounts are frozen, her credit cards are invalidated, her superannuation account is closed, her car title is invalidated, her passport is cancelled, her oh, on and on, you get my drift.

Because of this degree of certitude, from VICPOL , I do not see how they could come to this firmest of conclusions without that level of evidence.. Nothing less than that level of certitude, is another way of putting it.

Anyways, that's my take on it!..

No, nothing will be cancelled until the coroner investigates

Another reason as well for the family to find poor SM body, it makes thing a bit easier

This accused has made it so difficult to find SM body, a lot of thought has gone into it

Another random thought…is it possible there is some really obvious scenario for body concealment/disposal that we have completely overlooked? Because it seems “too” simple? “Too” obvious? For example, disposal in a road-based pot hole? Sewage Pipe? Concealment in concrete in the structure of a building site? Roofspace? Cellar? Abandoned cubby house? Freezer? Dumping with bricks in the ocean? I appreciate these hypotheticals may seem to be heading towards the more bizarre, but I can’t help but wonder if there are answers so simple that we are all missing them? Kind of like looking everywhere for your keys only to discover you were holding them in your left hand???
ProfCluezo, Would it be of note to think that the LE in relation to the alleged perp. to have:
Backtrack: Checked every place, every residence where they have worked, lived, stayed over, all friends, all relatives, all known associates of the stated above, or had access to including houses, roofs, ceilings, gutters, chimneys, cellars, basements, any areas underneath houses, vehicles, caravans, camper vans, trailers, bikes, including active worksites building sites and the laying of cement, foundations, any house or building that had work done on it, any council work areas and any work the council, any government work that may have been worked on or performed, any pipework, any work areas that allowed someone to gain access in and hide something, somewhere where no one would have access to ever again: 4 February 2024 onwards.
And use dogs and detection equipment every step of the way.
I know the above may sound obvious but it is a good question and the right time to state the above.

Someone must be aware of a place where they would escape to, that special place.

Further on the matter of the police closure on the alleged perp. Could they have been informed of the matter of self harm and they would never find SM body? Eyes, and being aware of being watched and monitored.
Was the alleged perp. about to harm a confidant?
Was the alleged perp. about to destroy possible evidence?
All suspected and allegedly MOO

I see.
Oh well...
Being a good friend is one thing.
But...
being an accomplice in hiding the body of a victim is altogether a next level.

Anybody involved must pay consequences
I have a strong sense that it may have been his girlfriend, not any of his friends, who reported her suspicions to LE. Also I think it's more likely that she became suspicious of him for various reasons, not that he confided in her. And I do not believe that she was an accomplice in any way. But once she spoke to LE, they realised she could be in grave danger, and acted very quickly to arrest PS. MOO

Just a note that the next hearing is Thursday Aug 8th. Gotta change your calendar entry. :)

I'm not placing any bets on what plea he makes, SA. Could be either.

(calendar adjustment) .. It is likely that his barrister will be somewhat in the public eye, before that date.. I am surprised that we still don't know who it is, not the usual time span thing, really. Usually, they are on board very early in the game.

Well you can never be too late can you 2024?!
Would be great if every state had their own.

It's not only Victoria who don't currently have human remains detection dogs. Also SA, NT, WA , TAS & ACT also don't have them

It's a highly specialised area.

In NSW there are 3 deployable human remains detection dogs with one in training ( as of Aug 23 )

QLD has 4 I think ...

I think police might still also use private dogs? private contracts?

Craig & his dog Narc worked on the backpacker murders ( Ivan Milat ) finding two bodies

Craig was the 1st person to train a cadaver dog in Australia and then to be utilised by 5 states police on dozens of murder investigations.
After this experience Craig was very regularly on planes to do searches in other states for police and we have had some amazing experiences and seen things normal people could never even imagine. Craig has worked on dozens of search and rescue and cadaver operations in most states and never has he cleared an area and had them not located a body or even evidence so I am very proud of my dogs and the standards we have adopted and upheld. We have hundreds of newspaper and electronic media articles to back up our stories.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently finished listening to a podcast called Your Own Backyard where there was alot of expert evidence given by Cadaver Dog handlers, it's worth a listen :
People vs. Flores: Weeks 4 and 5 about 36:05 to 48:00
People vs. Flores: Week 6 about 12:15 to 34:20

Have thought that from the outset , further reinforced with the DM photos of a relaxed lass (gf) blowing kisses to horses at her parents property soon after the arrest of PS.. the impression of a load lifted was palpable .
IMO.

This article from 13/02 implies that police may have been onto PS within days.

“After five days, Victoria Police announced the hunt was being scaled back on Saturday as the Missing Persons Squad continued its investigation into her disappearance. Retired homicide detective Charlie Bezzina told Sunrise on Tuesday the decision to wind down search operations led him to believe police had information they had not shared to the public.
“Given the fact that they've scaled back the search is indicative that they’re looking at a particular line of inquiry, even though they’ve got the support of the community,” he said.
“They’re not going to air that, they’ll keep it close to their chest and continue to say that [it’s] nothing sinister or criminal at this stage.”

Then when he gets a barrister there will be more delays while he gets up to speed.

Somewhere along the lines it was mentioned that this may have been an old photo, taken from her social media by the ever present DM. Not sure of the accuracy of this but it would not surprise me at all.

Does he even have one ??
He has ,or had, at least two solicitors, so far , one from Ballarat, and one from Werribee...The Ballarat one was the kind of local solicitor who does traffic stops, drunk and disorderly stuff, the Werribee one,Annika Vos,I think, is a criminal lawyer..

But by now, he should have a Barrister, that is, one who is qualified to represent him at the Supreme Court ,which is where a murder trial is held.

If not one of his own choosing, ( and paying ) then a court appointed one is made. They get chosen by ballot, and roster , and they can't refuse the courts request.

SO either that has happened and he has kicked up a fuss and wants someone else, or he is drumming up the money to pay for one himself, or, and this is every judge's nightmare, an accused who intends to represent himself. The Horror . . Nothing ever comes good of it and while he has the right to do that, , let's hope he has the brains to reject that idea.

I don't really get it. Police scaled back the search to keep an eye on the alleged murderer. Good. But what about SM's body. Not finding her must be so traumatic to family and friends. Surely more police effort could go into this. They scaled the search back way too soon. MOO.

They will get all of it when the brief of evidence is completed and handed over 2 weeks prior to 8 Aug.
