Not sure if certain posts above are rhetorical or people are simply unaware but regarding the public disclosure of Shannan's 911 call and the reason why Hart said SCPD doesn't have the authority to release the tapes, New York law states:

4. Records, in whatever form they may be kept, of calls made to a municipality's E911 system shall not be made available to or obtained by any entity or person, other than that municipality's public safety agency, another government agency or body, or a private entity or a person providing medical, ambulance or other emergency services, and shall not be utilized for any commercial purpose other than the provision of emergency services.

Many of the names mentioned at any point would have no problem pointing a finger at someone else if applicable, especially since the rift created by the whole Burke/Spota thing. Boil it down. Least common denominator. Who do they ALL still have an interest in protecting?

This law states the municipality's E911 can only release the calls to certain entities like the public safety agency. It does not say anything about what that entitity does once it has the call info. In this case the SCPD has the tape, this law does not impact the SCPD, and quite logically and reasonably the SCPD could release the tapes to the public, in order to generate 'tips and leads'. Historically many Law Enforcement agencies have done this in furthering their investigation process.

It is obvious the SCPD has no desire to release the tapes to anyone. John Ray spent years in court fighting, sucessfully, with the SCPD to get a copy. It is my opinion Ray believes the tapes should be released to the public, as there is information on the tapes that is in the public's interest. I agree, in the context of a free and open judicial system, witholding this information from the media and public scrutiny for so many years only protects the guilty.

Why fight the judges orders? Let the judge decide what is and isn’t legal. This police department is known to not abide by laws anyway.

Who has more "moxie" and has maintained their influence? Burke has been disgraced and stripped of power, outed by his fellow Law Enforcement counterparts as a violent pervert.
