Has anyone heard of the "murder gene" or the "warrior gene"?

Vanderbilt University has a program conducting genetic testing to track the murder gene within an individual’s genetic alleles. The gene is a particular variant of the MAO-A gene, also known as the warrior gene because of its association with violence.

The discovery of “murder genes” embedded in genetics brings a new angle to the criminal justice system.

What do you think? Would you consider giving someone LWOP instead of DP because someone had this gene? Makes you think.

Yes, if you haven't read the book "Defending Jacob" it is based on this premise... it is worth reading. I liked the ending, great twists.

ETA: Personally, mental illness, or genetics, would not cause me to eliminate the DP as an option.

I don't know if someone having that gene would sway me, possibly, but there are things that definitely would...

Very low IQ, small-child-level learning ability. (LWP for this)

Paranoid schizophrenia. (LWOP, because of the danger, but given treatment in jail, and a productive life in jail if on meds).

I have read the book; that's why I looked into the "murder gene". It was really worth reading and I highly recommend it to everyone.

The gene would not sway me either.

Matthew Bomer: I use to watch the Soap Opera 'Guiding Light' and he was on it for a short time, and that is when I first saw him; I just thought he was beautiful too!! Now he is on a show 'White Collar' and I love him on that too. He also played a small part in the movie Magic Mike. Ok I am a little obsessed

Anyway, I also read all of the Fifty Shades books, and think he would make an awesome Christian Grey.
