But yes, this is a super super Smokey song - the best part about it is that he managed to insert Pagliacci in the middle of a Motown song...now that's genius!

I did not notice that... Sounds normal to me.

I totally completely agree that inserting obscure knowledge into songs is awesome...

Like I wouldn't know what "Scylla and Charybdis" means if it wasn't for Sting.

Ah, yes. Spill the Wine. Wow, some serious chemicals involved in the creation of that piece!

I grew up in London in the 60's , and remember this well. Remember Whiter Shade of Pale? I think that might have included a little 'trip'!

Well, yes, extreme pallor was associated with the use of psychedlics, including LSD and psilocybin (magic mushrooms). I don't know how I know that
