Galloway asking about the importance of lab accreditation, referring that Col.Otto noted it as a 'nice to have'. Olckers disagrees

https://twitter.com/ajnarsee

Olckers: accreditation is a must have, it is essential, shows the public that the minimum standard is in place

Olckers: they must comply on that specific day when visited by the auditor..

J Desai: who audits what you do?

Olckers: I am monitored by the Health Professions Council SA

J Desai: so we must accept your word? Olckers: if there was concern I would have been reporter to HPCSA

Galloway referring to Chapter 5 of an SAPS act, regulations in relation to forensic analysis. Olckers unaware of this parameter
"How could you not be aware? You're an expert in this field" - Desai to Olckers

Olckers: if lab don't meet these standards, results cannot be valid

Galloway: Now refers to Chapter 5 of SAPS act, regulations in relation to forensic analysis

Olckers: she is not aware of the SAPS act

J Desai: how can you not be aware if you are an expert in the field?

Gold, pure gold.

This judge is really on the ball, wish he'd been on the OP trail

After Olckers' testimony I had started to feel a bit nervous about the DNA results but Galloway and Desai are doing a brilliant job at demolishing her. Such a shame we got Masipa for the OP trial. Desai would have been brilliant methinks.

To use a popular idiom - those who can do, those who can't teach.

Galloway is doing an excellent job.

G: are you familiar with Luminol and Blue star? Olckers: I have never used it, outside my expertise

G: would you be able to dispute it? Adv Combrink objects.

( Have my ears deceived me? Did I just hear Combrink object to Galloway repeating a question?! )

When giving her EiC she came across as quite pompous and full of self-importance. I’m enjoying seeing her taken down a peg or two.

The sensitivity and calibration of lab equipment is being discussed, with Defence objecting. A brief adjournment follows

Adv Combrink objects to Galloways question regarding disputing the FSL equipment

J Desai: are you objecting on law or on instinct

Court adjourned suddenly. Botha says he needs to take instruction from client

(Judge Desai is very annoyed with Olckers, she refuses to answer yes or no to his question, he asks her why she has an issue when she is under oath disputing Otto's findings. Combrink says she answered his question but can't say yes or no. ??????

HvB wants a word with B and C)

Hmmmm.... is HvB ready to throw the towel in, he's not happy with how this is going, he's interrupted twice today.
