A Swiss couple has been found on a shrinking glacier Tuesday about 72 years after going to milk cows in the Alps, according to reports.
Local police said the couples bodies and identity papers were discovered near a ski lift in southern Switzerland at an altitude of 8,600 feet.
Their bodies were lying near each other, said Bernhard Tschannen, director of Glacier 3000, which operates the ski lift. They were perfectly preserved in the glacier.
The couple was wearing World War II-era clothes and their belongings a backpack, bottle, book and a watch also were preserved.
DNA testing will be conducted to confirm their identities.
