Thai police issue arrest warrant for Bangkok bombing suspect

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/0...was-carried-out-by-network/?intcmp=latestnews

Police in Thailand issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday for an "unidentified foreign man" shown in a security video leaving behind a backpack just minutes before a deadly bombing at a Bangkok shrine, but acknowledged they're not sure of his nationality.

At a news conference earlier in the day, the national police chief expressed uncertainty about the man's origin. Somyot Poompanmoung said the suspect "looks like a foreigner" but "might have been in a disguise and wearing a fake nose" to conceal his identity.

My thoughts as well.

Maybe he burned himself while experimenting with bomb-making equipment? To me they look like ace bandage wraps. If they were a little closer to his elbows (or wrists) I would think bandages after a suicide attempt.

Those armbands bothered me the most, especially since the papers did not report them despite them being so obvious. It also occurred to me that they could be the tops of bicolor dishwashing gloves? Perhaps the darker color, because of the unclear footage, looks like his uncovered hands. The bands don't seem to quite fit at the top like a bandage/compression cuff would. Also, do you think the suspect might be wearing a Dr Fate t-shirt? That DC comic book hero wears a yellow helmet and the t-shirt of the suspect seems to have a helmeted figure on it although it's not exactly clear. Also Dr Fate has big yellow gloves in some depictions of him.

Also, does anyone else think that the guy pictured in the identikit release doesn't really look like the guy in the CCTV? The CCTV guy has longer, fairer hair and appears whiter. Apparently all the CCTV cameras along the route he escaped along and a hospital he reportedly entered are broken .... that indicates the involvement of a much, much larger gameplay involved here (state? Which state would have access over a long period of time to disable these?)

Police would not confirm where the suspect was from but said he was a foreign national and would be charged initially with possession of illegal explosive materials and held at a military facility.

The suspect "looks like the one we are looking for", said national police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri.

"They also found a lot of materials which can be used to make bombs."

Thai television showed a photograph of a handcuffed man in his 20s, shabbily dressed with a beard and hair shaven short. Reuters could not immediately verify the authenticity of the image.

Several channels also showed an image of a passport they said was seized at the apartment where the man was arrested during the raid.

It appeared to be a Turkish passport, belonging to a man born in 1987. Reuters could not confirm whether or not it belonged to the suspect, or if it was found by police at the apartment.

"Our preliminary investigation shows that he is related to both bombings," national police spokesman Prawuth Thavornsiri said in the televised statement, as he showed photographs of the suspect - a young man with short brown hair and a light beard and mustache. Police identified him only as a 28-year-old foreigner, without releasing a name.

Police also found "a number of passports from one country," Prawuth said.

"The passport you see is fake," said Prawuth, referring to the online photos. "We don't know if he is Turkish or not."

Police search for 10th suspect in deadly Bangkok bombing

Arrest warrants have been issued for nine suspects in the Aug. 17 attack at Bangkok’s Erawan Shrine.

BANGKOK—Thai police said Saturday that they are looking for a 10th suspect in last month’s bombing of a landmark in central Bangkok that killed 20 people.

Authorities will seek an arrest warrant soon for a man who shared an apartment with a suspect who was arrested a week ago when a police raid found bomb-making materials in his room, said national police spokesman Lt. Gen. Prawut Thavornsiri, adding that the man’s nationality was unknown.

Arrest warrants have been issued for seven other suspects in the Aug. 17 attack at Bangkok’s popular Erawan Shrine, which also injured more than 120 people. Thai authorities say that at least two of the suspects are believed to be Turkish.

Seems to me like this is another case of religious extremism committed again by members of the so called "Religion of Peace".

Based on the facts presented by Indonesian authorities, it seems ethnic Uighurs from China's western region are involved. The one suspect they could not identify the true nationality of, looks Chechans to me (although he allegedly holds fake Turkish passports).

My theory is, this might be a case of foreign terrorism committed on Indonesian soil spearheaded by ethnic Uighurs from China's western region, maybe with help from Chechans, where they instead of targeting westerners as has been typical of these radicals, are here targeting Chinese citizens instead (due to their own beef with the Chinese relating to their regional/territorial issues there).

It looks like no country is free of this radical islam cancer that is plaguing the world these days.

Thai Police Link Suspect in Bombing to Previous Explosions

BANGKOK — Police on Monday gave their most detailed explanation yet of who they believe was behind last month's deadly bombing in Bangkok, for the first time publicly linking one of the suspects to previous blasts.

Authorities have said they believe the Aug. 17 bombing at the Erawan Shrine, which killed 20 people and injured more than 120, was carried out by a people smuggling gang seeking revenge for having their operation curbed.

Thai police declare Bangkok bomb case solved; doubts remain

Thai police have declared Bangkok's worst-ever bombing solved, even as questions grow over the investigation, the alleged culprits and their claimed motives.

In a televised address on Monday, authorities said two suspects already in custody had now confessed to carrying out the deadly August 17 blast at the Erawan shrine, in revenge for an official crackdown on human trafficking gangs.
