It is your responsibility to know the rules and follow them.

You may find them here: The Rules - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

There is much, very good information in this forum from the rules to just tips and tricks for getting along with your fellow posters and how to avoid a time out.

In the Hailey forum - the Admin and the mods have institued the following rule (IN ADDITION TO the rules found in the link above):

Starting with the opening of this forum, posters will be given a maximum of 3 warnings to follow TOS and threadequitte. There will be no 4th warning, instead the poster will find themselves on TO.

Any rudeness to moderators in the threads will be treated with zero tolerance and will result in an automatic TO WITHOUT a warning.

Please remember - the mods are here to help, not to punish and to make WS a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. If you have an issue, pm a moderator. You may pm a mod assigned to the forum as they will have the best info on the forum, but you may also pm any mod you are comfortable with and they will try to help.

Let me add that this is the spot where you can ask questions about Hailey's forum in general and a mod can help you.

    Name Calling

Please be civil in the threads, folks. It takes up a lot of mod time to go behind the posters and clean up the name calling. I know emotions often run high, and the issues we see on here are often infuriating, but WS doesn't run like a lot of other forums - we don't say just any mud-slingy thing that comes to mind. This applies to everyone - case players, fellow posters, etc.

This rule is to protect everyone, as much as to protect the reputation of this forum as one of the most civil true crime boards around. We like rules to be consistent - and if posters can't call you, a fellow poster, nasty names, this means you can't call anyone else a petty name, either.

    Including the suspects, please.

Do remember that the mods around here are all volunteers, and don't make more tedious tasks for us than you would appreciate if you were a mod. Editing out name calling is one of the most tedious tasks, because it is completely preventable - you guys can self-moderate and just not include them from the start.

Also, please continue to use the alert button if you see name calling, as this also helps us do our job a little easier.

Thank you for your co-operation on this matter!

Please note that WS does not support letter writing campaigns without the express authorization of Tricia, the site owner.

Please do not post on the boards encouraging others to call, email or write people or orgs, as we don't want WS to get a reputation as a source of harassment.

If you do decide to contact case players on your own, please remember that you do not represent Websleuths, and only people with permission from the site owner can claim to be "from WS."

Do not post about having contacted any organizations associated with this case. Tricia has asked people not to do this.

    Thanks!
