Angela Boswell and William McCloud arrested after car sought in AMBER Alert found in N.C.

The Wilkes County Sheriff's Office charged William McCloud and Angela Boswell with an out-of-state fugitive warrant for outstanding charges that were open in the state of Tennessee.

McCloud has been charged with theft over $2,500, according to a State of North Carolina arrest warrant. Boswell was charged with a probation violation.

Both McCloud and Boswell are being held without bond.

In a Friday news conference, Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said that while Evelyn’s mother is cooperating with law enforcement, she has given conflicting stories.

Evelyn’s mother lives in Sullivan County and her father is an active duty military member and is stationed in Louisiana, Sullivan said. Her mother has sole custody, he said.

Evelyn was reported missing to the Tennessee Department of Children Services by her grandfather, who said he hadn’t seen her in months, the sheriff added.

Prayer vigil and fundraiser for Evelyn Boswell's return
  1. A “Pray for Evelyn Mae” event will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cumberland Square Park.
  2. A candlelight vigil will take place Sunday in Kingsport at Glenn Bruce Park at 6:30 p.m.
  3. "The Krazy Gringos" food truck is hosting a fundraiser to increase the reward money for Evelyn Boswell. That fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday from 12-7 p.m. at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.

Evelyn Boswell: 2 arrested in connection with missing Tennessee girl

William McCloud, 33, and Angela Boswell, 42, were arrested on Tennessee warrants and will be prepared for extradition, said Lt. Logan Kerr, a spokesman for the Wilkes County, North Carolina, Sheriff’s Department.

In a news release Saturday, the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office said that the BMW had been reported stolen, and McCloud and Boswell were located in the vehicle on Friday evening. Both suspects were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property and are being held without bond on fugitive warrants, the news release says. Their first court date is Monday.

The fugitive warrant for Angela Boswell also says that she has "broken the terms of her bail, probation and parole," although no details are provided.

'Persons of interest' in Evelyn Boswell disappearance now charged with theft

The 2007 BMW had been reported stolen by its owner.

At the time, Megan Boswell was in the process of purchasing the vehicle from the owner for her mother, Angela Boswell.

However, no purchase agreement was completed, no money was ever exchanged, and the owner was unable to make contact with either of them to return the vehicle.

Warrants were issued in Bristol General Sessions Court for McCloud and Angela Boswell on one count each of theft over $2,500.

SCSO and TBI investigators traveled to Wilkes County to interview them regarding the Evelyn Boswell case. No new information about what police learned from those interviews has been released.

Reward for return of Evelyn Boswell now up to $56,000

On Friday, Sheriff Jeff Cassidy announced in a press conference he was donating his own money and starting a reward fund. Ballad Health and CEO Alan Levine along with Fuller Paving Group followed shortly with their own contributions to the fund.

On Saturday, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office announced Indian Springs Armory and Storage Source One Self-Storage have also contributed to the reward fund. Tommy Boswell Sr and Tommy Boswell Jr also added $10,000 each on Saturday afternoon.

Prayers for Evelyn: Vigil held in honor of missing 15-month-old

The organizers behind the vigil said they were mothers themselves, with children close to Evelyn’s age. They said they didn’t believe anyone who came knew the missing child personally, but that didn’t stop them from gathering to pray.

“Everyone cares about her. Just in her community, people that never even met her,” said event organizer OW.

Captain Andy Seabolt with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office told News Channel 11 Sunday morning that there have been no new developments in the search for missing Evelyn.

Crews were spotted by bystanders Saturday investigating around the property said to be owned by Evelyn’s grandfather. Seabolt told News Channel 11 that the crews were simply investigating the scene to follow possible leads and that there was no “digging” done, as some social media posts have indicated.

“They weren’t digging, we’re exploring any and everything we can,” Seabolt said. “That’s the problem with social media, it creates so much stir.”

FBI now involved in search for Evelyn Boswell, missing Tennessee toddler last seen in December

The sheriff's office on Sunday confirmed in a statement on Facebook that the FBI is now involved in the investigation, which spans two states.

William McCloud, 33, and Angela Boswell, 42, who is the missing girl's grandmother, were arrested Friday on fugitive warrants in North Carolina. The pair will be extradited back to Tennessee, said Lt. Logan Kerr, a spokesman for the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina.

AMBER Alert update: TBI chase down 300 leads; sheriff’s office warns against social media misinformation; Evelyn Boswell still missing
UPDATE (2/23/2020 – 4:30 p.m.) – Washington County, Virginia Sheriff Blake Andis told News Channel 11 that the Washington Co. Va. Sheriff’s Office was assisting the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office earlier today in checking on a lead in the Mendota, Va. community.

Andis said that nothing was found that has lead to information on Evelyn, but he confirmed with News Channel 11 that a search was conducted.

Captain Andy Seabolt of the SCSO told News Channel 11: “Leads and information have led us to multiple locations for follow up. We have no active searches going on.”

AMBER Alert Update: TBI releases new photo of 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigations released a new photo of 15-month-old Evelyn Boswell Sunday evening.

According to prior updates issued in a statement from Saturday, there have been over 300 leads followed since the AMBER Alert was issued for Evelyn Boswell on Wednesday.

Authorities say the number of tips received in connection to the search for Evelyn stands at 375.
