One big takeaway from the hearing on Thursday -- Judge Jim Goodwin denied a request from the defense to sever some of Boswell's charges.

The defense originally wanted to have separate trials, and have a trial for her false reporting charges, and a trial for her bigger charges, like murder.

Sullivan judge to consider change of venue in Boswell case

A judge may soon decide whether to try a case against a Blountville, Tennessee, woman charged in the death of her child in Sullivan County or elsewhere.

After the hearing, Scott told members of the media that he was concerned about the amount of coverage since the case began four years ago. He said reporters and cameras have been present for every hearing in the Boswell case.

Scott said his client is ready and wants to go to trial. Boswell has been unable to make bail since her original arrest, Scott said.

Scott said he has reviewed all of the discovery evidence in the case and is prepared for trial.

Megan Boswell appears in court for 2020 death of 15-month-old

Megan Boswell reported her daughter, Evelyn, missing in February of 2020, saying she hadn’t been seen since December of 2019.

Megan Boswell faces 19 charges, including two counts of felony murder. She also faces a dozen counts of false reporting, among other charges. In the past, there’s been concern with selecting a jury for the eventual trial, with Judge James Goodwin saying the court plans to prepare a questionnaire to gauge possible jury candidates.

THIS makes me cry. If the family didn't want the child, there were many people who would've wanted to love on her and care for her properly. The mother should be forced to have her tubes tied as she seems to be uncapable of taking care of a child. This wasn't a dog or cat! I hope she learns from this awful experience and becomes a better person.
