SP: Arrest made in Tennessee teen's disappearance
Authorities in Tennessee have announced an arrest in the disappearance of a 14-year-old teen who may have been in Kentucky.

Gray affiliate WVLT reports the Monroe County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest Thursday.

Details on the arrest are limited. Deputies didn't confirm whether Pruitt was located when they announced the arrest.

Monroe County jail records show SP's father Randall Lee Pruitt was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Deputies didn't say whether the arrest is connected to SP's disappearance. Other Knoxville news outlets say Randall Lee Pruitt is the adoptive father of SP.

Arrest made in investigation into Tennessee teen's disappearance
The sheriff's office released the following statement Thursday:

"Update on Missing Child SLP

The Monroe County (TN) Sheriff's Office has release the following information. Randall Pruitt has been arrested and charged with rape. No other information can be released at this time due to compromising the integrity of the investigation. More details will be released when the investigation is complete."

The sheriff's office have not identified the victim of the alleged rape, or whether SP has been found.

Adoptive father of missing Tennessee girl arrested, charged with rape
Randall Pruitt faces one count of rape. The sheriff's office was not able to provide any other details, including the circumstance of the arrest or whether SP had been found, saying they did not want to compromise the integrity of the investigation.

The connection to the case is still unclear. Pruitt has a court date listed on February 5.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says it is helping.

SLP is still considered missing.
Law enforcement agencies close to the continued search for SP said they are hopeful for the outcome. Agencies are continuing to follow leads from Georgia to Tennessee -- across states.

Missing Monroe County teen found
14-year-old SP has been found safe at a residence in Wisconsin.

"She's in good health. She's safe, she's warm," said Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said an arrest was made in connection to Pruitt's case.

MCSO deputies would not share details about who was arrested, why, or where.

However, hours later, investigators announced Pruitt's father, Randall Pruitt, was in custody.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office would not say whether Randall Pruitt's arrest was connected to the disappearance of his daughter.

Randall Pruitt, a truck driver and the adoptive father of missing teenager SP, now stands accused of rape, and authorities say the teenager is safe.

“She is safe; she is in custody, and that’s the best outcome for the the situation,” he said in a press conference on January 31. WBIR-TV reported that the rape accusations are related to SP’s case but authorities won’t provide additional specifics.

“There’s a possibility of multiple charges with multiple people being involved. That’s all we can say at this time,” said the sheriff, in the press conference. He did not provide additional details nor say where in Wisconsin SP was located.

“We made it on gma!” he wrote on Facebook the day before his arrest.

On his Facebook page, where SP’s picture is his profile photo, Randall Pruitt wrote, “I am a man who fears god and is dedicated to Gods purpose for my life!”

He wrote that he “Works at Talbott, Tn” and went to Jefferson County High School. His top post on Facebook is a share from another man that read, “Randall Pruitt and Christina Pruitt, I think that y’all should start a account to help with all the expenses that are accumulating in your search for SP. I know that Randall has not been able to work being an over-the-road truck driver and I am sure family and friends are willing to assist. Let us know. God bless.”

Pruitt, who legally adopted the girl after marrying her mother, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of rape and remains in custody in Tennessee.

The girl has relatives in Wisconsin but was not staying with them when she was found.

In a press conference on Thursday, Monroe County Sheriff Tommy Jones confirmed that the teenager was the victim of the alleged rape but he would not give further details on when it happened.

It is unclear if she has been brought back to Tennessee or if she is still in Wisconsin. Pruitt is being held at the Monroe County Jail.

Missing TN teen found in Madison, FBI thanks Dane Co. Sheriff’s Office and Madison Police Department
The FBI thanked the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, Madison Police Department and Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation for their help in finding her.

The girl was last seen before she went to bed between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The sheriff in Monroe County, Tennessee — Tommy Jones — said she has family in Wisconsin, but he does not believe she was related to the people with whom she was found.

“She is safe. She is in custody so that’s a very good ending to this as far as we’re concerned,” Jones said. “She’s had shelter, she’s been eating and, according to the information that we got back, she’s doing fine.”

“We don’t believe at this time he has any connection to her running away or missing,” Sheriff Jones said.

The rape charge – is part of the same case, but carries different charges, Sheriff Jones clarified. Officials could not comment on the date of the alleged rape crime.

During the investigation, according to the affidavit, investigators with the Monroe Co. Sheriff's Office, working with the FBI, obtained a search warrant for the teen's email and messaging records.

While going through those records, investigators discovered that several photos and a video of Pruitt having sex with the teen had been taken and sent to another individual.

Sheriff Tommy Jones told 10News that he believes that the teen ran away to get away from a bad situation at home.

Missing Tennessee teen girl found safe 700 miles from home has incriminating evidence against accused rapist father: Police

A Tennessee man charged with the rape of his 14-year-old adopted daughter was apparently caught after the girl had incriminating evidence against him.

ABC 6 reports that 41-year-old Randall Pruitt is behind bars on one count of rape after authorities found “explicit photos and videos” on the teen girl’s cellphone. His first court hearing is scheduled for February 5.

The teen girl is the eldest of four children. Pruitt indicated earlier this week that she was homeschooled, while the other three children attended public school. The family recently moved to Madisonville from Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Jones said additional people are involved in girl’s disappearance and more people are expected to be charged in the case. He added that no additional information is available yet, due to the integrity of the investigation.

Affidavit: Tennessee teen recorded adoptive father's sexual assault

Court documents reveal new information surrounding the arrest of a teenager's adoptive father.

After being missing for weeks, 14-year-old SP was found safe in Wisconsin Thursday night.

According to an arrest affidavit, Deputy Bill Johnson met with Randall and Christina Pruitt the morning of January 14th. The parents told Johnson that they'd gone into their daughter's room and found the window open, and her and some of her clothes and bed sheets.

Police arrested Randall Pruitt Thursday and charged him with rape after finding explicit photos and videos were found on the teen's phone.

The FBI looked at email and messaging records through a search warrant.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the next step is figuring out how they will bring SP back to Madisonville, and who she'll stay with once she returns.

  • The children are in an undisclosed location.
  • Reporter talked to CP who said everything we're hearing is new to her as well. Right now, CP wants privacy as she works on bringing her daughter home.
  • RP was interviewed by various LE agencies Thurs night with attorney present.
  • They only asked him questions about SP's whereabouts.
  • They did not ask questions about the rape charge.
