*Trial continues (@ 10am PT) – British Columbia, Canada – M. S. (13) (last seen alive on July 18, 2017 at a local Tim Hortons, Burney B.C. & her body was found 5 hours later on July 19, 2017 in Burnaby’s Central Park, Vancouver) - *Ibrahim Ali (28/now 33) arrested & charged (9/7/18) & indicted (11/25/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Police used a new & somewhat controversial “DNA dragnet” technique, after collecting DNA at the crime scene that indicated a suspect of Middle Eastern descent. (He is a Syrian refugee who entered Canada 3 months before murder).
Trial began on 3/17/23 with jury selection & ended on 3/23/23.
Trial began on 4/5/23 & continued on 4/11/23. (expected to run thru June 30 & changed (5/17/23) maybe thru September).

The Crown plans to call two more witness before wrapping up its case, but the jury isn't scheduled to sit again until Wednesday, 11/1/23.

In the civil case, Ms. James has filed a lawsuit against Trump & two of his children accusing them of "astounding" fraud & deception.
New York is seeking $250 million in financial penalties & asked the court to ban Trump, Donald Trump Jr. & Eric Trump from serving as an officer or director in any corporation registered or licensed in New York. James also requested the court ban the former president & his business from acquiring real estate in New York or from applying for loans from any New York financial institution for five years. James's civil case accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values at the Trump Organization, as well as his own net worth, in order to obtain better terms from lenders & insurers.

The judge overseeing Trump’s civil fraud trial has expanded a gag order in the trial to extend to Trump’s attorneys after continued lengthy discussions about the judge’s communications with his law clerk during court this week. In a written order Friday, Judge Arthur Engoron prohibited Trump’s attorneys from making any further comments about confidential communications between the judge & his staff inside or outside of the courtroom. The judge said violating the order would result in “serious sanctions.”

Additional info: 11/8/23 Update: NY AG Letitia James has rested her case against Trump & his adult sons & Trump Organization executive state attorney Kevin Wallace told the court. Judge Engoron confirmed that he will address motions for a directed verdict -- as well as motions regarding the defense's expert testimony -- during a half day of court tomorrow. "We don't have any witnesses for tomorrow," Trump attorney Chris Kise told the judge. The defense's case is expected to start in earnest on Monday.
NY AG James is arguing that four of the defense's expert witnesses are no longer relevant. In a filing made today, James argues that Judge Engoron's partial summary judgment decision & subsequent changes to the state's case have made make the testimony from the four experts irrelevant. State lawyers plan to make an oral motion to preclude the expert testimony.
11/9/23 Thursday, Bench Trial Day 26: Motions hearing. Trump's defense team has moved for a directed verdict in the trial, arguing that NY AG Letitia James failed to meet the evidentiary standard necessary for the case to continue. The attorney general's office, in response to the defense's request for a directed verdict on the basis that the state failed to show that a bank or insurance company complained of fraud on the part of the Trump Organization, conceded that none of its witnesses were asked directly during the case whether they would have moved forward with a loan to the Trump Organization had they known about the fraudulent valuations alleged by the NY AG. Judge Arthur Engoron did not immediately rule on the defense's motion for a directed verdict that would end the trial early. Instead, the judge simply said the arguments were being "taken under advisement."
Trump attorney Chris Kise grew visibly frustrated as today's proceedings moved on to arguments over the state's motion to preclude testimony from four of the defense's expert witnesses that the state argues are no longer relevant to the case.

Judge Engoron has denied a motion from the NY AG to preclude four expert witnesses from testifying for the defense when the defense presents it case starting on Monday. The state had sought to preclude the four experts’ testimony on the grounds that, following the testimony of the state’s witnesses, the four defense witnesses were no longer relevant to the case. In making his ruling, Engoron reiterated his finding from his earlier summary judgment order that Trump made at least ten internally contradictory claims in his statements of financial condition. “You can’t have a correct statement with these kinds of errors,” Engoron said. Kise told the court that Donald Trump Jr. will be the first witness to testify in the defense’s case on Monday.

11/10/23 Update: The mortgage on Trump’s Manhattan tower at 40 Wall St. has been transferred to a special servicer Rialto Capital. The Financial District building has been on watchlist status since February as costs & vacancies increased. “Contact has been made with the borrower & a pre-negotiation letter is being reviewed,” according to a filing Friday on the building’s commercial mortgage-backed security. Also Friday, the owner of the Trump International Hotel Waikiki in Hawaii said it will rename the property, buying out a licensing agreement with the former president’s company & joining a brand in Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc.’s system.

They are being charged as adults. Plead not guilty. $1M cash bond.

4/18/23 Update: Order for PSI by Judge Shawn Showers. Guilty plea entered. Prosecutors said they would recommend a sentence between 25 years & life with the possibility of parole for Goodale. 4/19/23: Written plea of guilty-filed by Chauncey Tyler Moulding. Sentencing hearing on 8/23/23 @ 9am.

As part of the plea agreement, Coleman would have to testify against Anderson in any criminal case related to the death of Cairo."
Dawn E. Coleman was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison with five years suspended to probation in connection with the death of Cairo Jordan. Coleman, of Louisiana, pleaded guilty earlier this month to a level 1 felony for conspiracy to commit murder.

The court is set to adjourn until it resumes on Monday following the holiday. When court resumes after the Thanksgiving break, the defense plans to call two Trump Organization executives, followed by several Deutsche Bank employees.
Bench Trial continues on Monday, 11/27/23.


Wednesday, November 29th:
*Sentencing Hearing (@ 1:30pm MT) - NM - Pronoy Bhattacharya (7) (Hit & run on Dec. 12, 2021, River of Lights display, Albuquerque & seriously injured Pronoy father Aditya Bhattacharya) - Sergio Alfred Almanza (27/now 29) warrant served for his arrest (12/13/21), surrendered (1/31/22) charged & arraigned (2/14/22) with homicide by vehicle (driving while under the influence or homicide by vehicle (reckless driving), great bodily harm by vehicle (driving while under the influence) or homicide by vehicle (reckless driving), knowingly leaving the scene of an accident (great bodily harm or death), 2 counts of tampering with evidence & driving an off-highway motor vehicle on a paved street or highway. Plead not guilty. No bond.
Trial began on 8/21/23 & ended 8/30/23). 12 Jurors & 4 alternates. Judge Brett Loveless presiding.
State & defense rested their cases on 8/29/23. Jury deliberations: 8/30/23 from 12 Noon to 5pm (?) - ~5 hours. 8/31/23 from 8:30am to 4pm = ~7 ½ hours. Total deliberations: ~12 ½ hours.

8/31/23 Thursday, Trial Day 9: The jury continues deliberations. The jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Sergio Almanza. The jury has found Almanza guilty on all counts. A sentencing hearing to be set on 11/29/23 @ 1:30pm.

Thursday, November 30th:
*Trial continues (Day 100)-Closing Arguments! (@ 10am PT) – British Columbia, Canada – M. S. (13) (last seen alive on July 18, 2017 at a local Tim Hortons, Burney B.C. & her body was found 5 hours later on July 19, 2017 in Burnaby’s Central Park, Vancouver) - *Ibrahim Ali (28/now 33) arrested & charged (9/7/18) & indicted (11/25/19) with 1st degree murder. Plead not guilty. Held without bail.
Police used a new & somewhat controversial “DNA dragnet” technique, after collecting DNA at the crime scene that indicated a suspect of Middle Eastern descent. (He is a Syrian refugee who entered Canada 3 months before murder).
Trial began on 3/17/23 with jury selection & ended on 3/23/23.
Trial began on 4/5/23 & continued on 4/11/23. Crown rested their case on 11/17/23. Defense begins on 11/20/23. (expected to run thru June 30 & changed (5/17/23) maybe thru September).

11/17/23 Friday, Trial Day 97: The Crown rested their case. Trial continues on Monday, 11/20/23.
11/20/23 Monday, Trial Day 98: ?? Trial continues on Tuesday, 11/21/23.
11/21/23 Tuesday, Trial Day 99: Ali's lawyers have told the jury they will not be calling any evidence in defence of allegations he sexually assaulted & killed a 13-year-old girl. Defence lawyer Kevin McCullough told the jury the Crown hasn't met the burden of proof to find Ali guilty.
Justice Lance Bernard told the jury Tuesday that closing arguments from both the Crown & defence are expected to begin 11/30.
Trial continues on Thursday, 11/30/23.
