Thursday, June 10th:
*Status Check Hearing (@ 5pm CT) - TX – Angela Pilot (5), Prince Larry Brown (2) & Ashanti Mehmood (6 wks) (Jan. 3, 2019, Texas City; beaten with hammer & stabbed with screwdriver) & mom Kimaria Nelson (24) (injured-beaten & shot, stable condition) - *Junaid Hashim Mehmood (27/now 29) arrested (1/3/19) & charged (1/4/18) with capital murder of multiple persons, capital murder of a persons under 10 yrs. old & aggravated assault with a deadly weapon & purchase/furnish alcohol to minor. No plea entered. Bond denied. DP will seek DP.
Confessed to killings to 911 dispatchers. He said he stabbed Prince in the heart & chest multiple times with a screwdriver & he struck Angela on the head with a hammer & stabbed her with the screwdriver. He also told authorities that he broke one of Angela's arms. He killed Ashanti, but couldn't remember how he did it, according to court documents.
1/7/19 Update: Appointed counsel. Will have mental health evaluation. Competency hearing on 3/19. Next Status hearing on 4/25. 4/25/19: Status hearing continued to 5/8. 5/8/19: Hearing on 6/27. 6/27/19: Next status hearing on 8/12. 8/12/19: Agreed Order for Restoration commitment signed by Judge. Order for commitment to State hospital. Next Status hearing reset for 12/9. 12/5/19: Status hearing on 12/9 has been reset for 1/8/20.
1/8/20 Update: Granting Court Ordered Production of Records - US Citizenship & Immigration Service. Next status hearing on 4/29.
4/24/20 Update: Status hearing on 4/29 is cancelled due to the coronavirus & has been reset to 8/11/20. 8/11/20 Update: Hearing was cancelled per defense motion; defendant waived appearance. Next status hearing on 12/10/20. Defendant will be sent to Austin State hospital.
12/3/20 Update: Defense counsel seeks an abatement rather than a continuance to suspend the litigation to allow the parties to reclaim a level playing field, to the extent possible, before litigation resumes.
