Why all the ammo? Was he going on a killing spree?

I concur, incredible amount of information released so far and good reporting in that KSAT article linked again by @cvaldez1975 IMO. That poor little girl, and all those who knew and loved Andreen... they are who my heart breaks for now.

Here are a few tidbits from that article:

Andre McDonald arrived at the house as the group scoured the home for clues and told them that his wife was being treated at Baptist Emergency Hospital, the affidavit states. But when authorities followed up on his story, hospital officials said they did not have a patient by that name, court documents detailed.
. . .
When confronted by law enforcement about the discrepancy, McDonald said he didn't know where his wife was and that they had gotten into an argument Thursday night, according to an affidavit.

Deputies detained McDonald for questioning, but he declined to speak with investigators and requested an attorney.

On Saturday afternoon, an investigator noticed that the McDonalds' garage door had been ripped off its tracks, court documents state. The same investigator covertly followed McDonald to a gun shop, where McDonald purchased a firearm and a significant amount of ammunition, according to arrest paperwork and accounts from Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.
. . .
While McDonald was at the gun shop, other deputies arrived at the home and saw a shovel in Andreen McDonald's Porsche Macan, something that wasn't there during a previous search of the home, the affidavit states. Salazar alluded to this new evidence during a Saturday night news conference and said then that authorities obtained an additional search warrant for the home based on the observation of evidence that was "in plain sight."
. . .
Authorities also found a fire pit that wasn't there during previous searches. Court documents note that it appeared the fire pit had been recently used to destroy papers and other items. Additionally, as investigators searched trash cans at the home, they found "heavy coveralls" that appeared to have been worn and a claw hammer with "woody plant debris," the affidavit states.

I really hope it is.
I hate to say that I’m past the point of thinking she could be alive... I also hate that her “husband” is living life somewhat normally with all of that evidence against him.
I DO think they would have mentioned “burned” human remains, the things he purchased seemed to me he was going to burn plenty, not just her clothes. It’s possible he strayed from his initial plans to burn her...
I hope so badly they find her remains...
JUSTICE FOR ANDREEN!!!

JUSTICE FOR ANDREEN!!!

I understand exactly what you mean; I feel guilty when I hope a body is a victim's but in some cases, one already knows they are likely dead. In this case LE as much as said so pretty early on. Therefore, I hope they find her remains and justice can result and the family can bury her and have some closure (I hate that word).

I hate that he is free.

I do hope this is her. I think he may have ran out of time when they came looking for her or someone perhaps called looking for her and he rushed or had to change his plans.

Whatever the case may be, they found someone's loved one. I have been growing someone hopeless they will find Andreen so I do hope it is her.

Jmo.

Is there any update on this?

I looked a little bit yesterday and could not find one. I thought we would hear something but now, no matter whose body it is. My browser, however, does not always return the best results so maybe someone else can find more.

I am wondering myself.

Local group prepares for new search for Andreen McDonald
Months after the disappearance of Andreen McDonald, one local search and rescue group hasn’t given up faith.

“It was a group decision to come up with the name Chain Breakers,” said Robert Green, a member of Chain Breakers Search and Rescue and Domestic Violence Assistance. “We deal with domestic violence, runaways and missing persons. The motto is to let people know that they can break away from any horrible situation, they are dealing with. We give them an option or a way out.”

[...]

The group said Andreen’s case has impacted their lives.

[...]

The Chain Breakers is planning a large search Sunday, asking for the help of community members.

They are scheduled to meet at the CVS on Blanco and Huebner roads starting at 8 a.m. to begin phase one of a three-part search they hope to have. They are also working closely with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, hoping to provide detectives on this case with more evidence that could lead to Andreen.

If you are interested in helping with the search, visit their Facebook page at The Chain Breakers Search and Rescue and Domestic Violence Assistance.

Searchers want answers in Andreen McDonald case
[...]

And on one of those searches, along a section of 281 in far north Bexar County, he said they found some things.

"We found things that could point to what she did for a living," said Rice. "We found things that could point to her household items, and we found things that could point to her particular lifestyle."

He wouldn't say what exactly those items were for fear of interfering with the official investigation.

[...]

And there's something else Robert and his team thinks they may have come across during their search for Andreen.

Not too far from where those other items were found.

Down a steep hill, nothing but rocks and sticks, Rice said one of his searchers with a cadaver dog made a hit.

He said if the Sheriff's Department can't search the area, they will.

[...]

"What I want to do is hire professionals to do it. I don't have the skills to do this," said Rice.

Rice said he doesn't think the Bexar County Sheriff's Office is doing enough with what he's found.

Hmm. I know it has mostly seemed to be volunteer searchers, he mentions wanting professionals since he does not have the skills--if the BCSO can't do it, this is in Texas I wonder if they have looked into using Equusearch? I can't remember in this case other than I know they have had volunteer searchers from the start helping.

No word on the other body found it seems like so far...

It looks like TXEQ may be following AM's case, but I think the BCSO needs more information to narrow down a more specific search area in order to bring in TXEQ. Unfortunately. :( MOO

'You can't forget her' | A new search for Andreen McDonald
[...]

"We've been out here for a long time. We still haven't found her but we have the tenacity in our group to keep going. "

[...]

On Sunday, on foot and by ATV dozens searched an undisclosed area hoping to uncover new clues.

While the group feels the Bexar County Sheriff's Office has done a fine job on the case, they're also looking to plan a dig in an area where they believe they may have discovered potential key evidence.

...searchers couldn't disclose where and what exactly was found but they're hoping the public will help fund an excavation of the area to continue the efforts to find the woman that left a lasting impact.

Group continues search for Andreen McDonald
[...]

Sunday marked the first of what the group says is a three-part search for McDonald. While the group didn't say where members would be searching, RG, a spokesman for the group, did share that between 40 and 50 people volunteered to search.

"We don't want to jeopardize the search area. If there is potential evidence out there, we don't want to disclose (the location) right now," RG said. "Therefore, giving somebody time to go over there and remove it -- it is a heavily wooded area."

Makes sense. It sounds encouraging a dog had some type of hit, etc.

If they e had a hit by a cadaver dog then wouldn’t they bring in a pack to the area to close in on the evidence? I certainly would if I was the team leader

It sounds as if the volunteers asked LE and wants an expert to dig, etc. and brought it to their attention. I would hope LE is doing exactly that...

This update sounds promising. No formal identification at this time though.

Human skull, bones found near search area for missing mother Andreen McDonald
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is cautiously optimistic it has found the possible remains of missing mother Andreen McDonald, who was last seen February 28.
Yes, it does sound promising. And, the article has been updated to say they hope to give an update today:

Human skull, bones found near search area for missing mother Andreen McDonald
[...]

In a press conference late Thursday, Sheriff Javier Salazar said human remains were found on a property in the 600 block of Specht Road.

Sheriff Salazar says they had searched the area just days after McDonald had gone missing.

[...]

Salazar said the remains found were "somewhat bleached" from the sun and though they thought it before, they do believe these could be those of Andreen.

[...]

The property is about 50 acres and the remains were found by a friend of the property owner. We're told it was a skull and other bones.

It isn't uncommon for an official identity on remains to take a while to be released. However, Sheriff Salazar says he is hopeful the evidence already collected in the case will help with a speedy identification.

"With Andreen, we do have dental records. so hopefully it won't take long to tell if it is her or not," Salazar said. "They've been there for some time, it's pretty obvious as far as the condition, there's evidence animals have moved the bones about. We may never find the entire body because of that."

[...]

Sheriff Salazar: 'It's quite possible' human remains found in north Bexar Co. belong to missing mother Andreen McDonald
[...]

According to the sheriff, the location where the remains were found belongs to the same area – albeit a large area of about 20 square miles, according to Salazar – where law enforcement, search parties and even drones were searching for McDonald in the early days of her disappearance.

"We said at the time that it was needle-in-a-haystack conditions," Salazar said. "We knew we weren't coming close to covering a fraction of the area."
