TX TX - Brandon Lawson, 26, San Angelo, 8 Aug 2013 #6

I'm glad he might be found. How long will testing take? His remains may or may not tell them what happened to him, short of finding a bashed skull or bones with a gunshot wound, we will never know what really happened to him.
Can someone tell us where he was found in relation to where his truck was?
May Brandon finally come home, and his family find some peace.
I've been searching the internet trying to find anything that gives a location. I'm glad they found him, although, I agree, I don't believe they are going to learn much than they did the first week.

I’m interested in the location too. The fb post does say the small search party found his clothes in the vicinity of where he was last seen and then the Texas Rangers found remains in the same area. So it must not have been too far from his truck. All this time he was right there. But all that land is privately owned so I’m wondering if someone finally let them search on it. A new owner perhaps? I don’t know, but just wondering what changed.

If it's private land, then it's up to the property owner, not LE.
Yes, but I remember LE warning people to stay away and not seeming to make any effort to get land owners to allow searches. It was always something that bothered me (and many others as well). I understand liability and all that, and I live in Texas so I do understand that pretty much all the land here is privately owned, but it was just a total shut down by everyone at the time that searching would have been beneficial. It was strange IMO.

What wonderful news after so long. Prayers for Brandon's family and friends. I am glad you finally may have answers. I just hope whoever did this to Brandon will be found out and justice will come to Brandon. RIP Brandon. It's been a long time coming.

I think there were searches, just not in the right places. I think the land owners probably gave permission to the search party to search the area. Nothing LE could do to stop it. I don't think LE is involved. I just think the sheriff and his deputies were biased against Brandon and his family due to his previous drug use. Sad, but still part of a small, very close knot community.

According to one of Lawson’s loved ones, Hanna thought Brandon's body was somewhere off U.S. 277, large portions of which are desolate and drought-prone terrain, spotted green with thorny mesquite, huisache and cactus. It's an environment largely inhabited by rattlesnakes and feral hogs.

I am glad for his family that they are finally able to bring him home. I can't believe how many times we hear that a body has been found "in the vicinity" of their disappearance, but years have passed. It just goes to show how difficult search and rescue can be. Rest peacefully Brandon

The land in the general search area is undeveloped vacant land? Didn’t know if being used for cattle, etc.

Agree.

A landowner has no choice but to let them search if LE obtains a search warrant. At least with a warrant landowners don't have to worry about being liable for accidents etc.

Oh I am so glad that they feel that he might be finally found!

It seems like only yesterday when I think back on how many of us here listened to that call over and over (and over and over again), starting and stopping the audio loop trying to decipher his words for any tips to his location!

After 8.5 years, we may never know what happened.

But the call haunts me and I fear there was foul play involved.

Yes, but that isn't what we're talking about. There wouldn't have been a warrant based on the vague information about Brandon's last known location, so the property owners were free to allow searches or refuse searches.

Unsolved said;
"trying to decipher his words for any tips".

The audio is difficult to understand in parts -
it's as well to remember that Brandon was
walking/jogging and it was dark. Force Ten,
earlier in this thread, advised us that;
"moonset was at 9:23, so by then it would
have been really dark". How would Brandon
have been able to see - if you consider it, the
answer would be that he was at times using
the light from his mobile phone held out in
front of him to see what obstacles were in his
path. This can partly account for why
e.g. Brandon would talk only in a stucatto
of quick sentences to his brother.

Here are several points to consider:
If we assume Brandon's mobile call with his
brother had similar audio difficulties, then
what his brother related that Brandon said;
"Where's your pride, motherf***er??"
could have instead been;
'Where's your ride? - Motherf***er!!'
the expletive at the end being directed NOT
at Brandon's brother, but rather said as an
exclamation of surprize or pain due to
Brandon running at that time into an
obstacle. This is interesting, because we
know something caused Brandon's death.

In the 911 call, Brandon says some words
which are difficult to make out - it sounds
like he is saying a word something like 'schut',
which people interpret as either 'shot' or 'cut'.
The word immediately preceding this is also
difficult, I hear it as either 'heart' or 'a_r_s_e'.
For me, the choices as to what Brandon
was saying are either;
'I've been heart shot' OR 'I've been a_r_s_e
shot
' OR 'I've been a_r_s_e cut'.
The last of those, I would suggest, is the
most likely correct interpretation. Think
about it - Brandon is moving in darkness
with only a mobile phone screen to light his
way (and that being interrupted when he
places the phone around to his mouth to
talk on it). At some point, I suggest Brandon
walked or ran into a plant which cut or spiked
him between the legs, and we know what
plants are in that area- from lawyer_sleuth
earlier in this thread "Kyle stated that the
area around the truck was largely empty and
open with sparse bull nettle, brush, and cacti"
and from Nannymo (who has seen that area)
earlier in this thread "pasture land with
mesquite trees". Mesquite trees or shrubs grow
knitting needle-like spikes - imagine one of
those lancing Brandon's femoral artery or a
large vein between his legs, as he ran into
or over one of those trees/shrubs. (If I
understand the Mesquite Wiki, mesquite
if cut off at the trunk ground level [say if it
had been land-cleared at some past stage],
will grow back up from the roots giving
multiple small trunks as a shrub-like plant
closer to the ground initially).
"I'm bleeding" Brandon stated - in his drug
affected state, he didn't realize how serious
his injury was. (I believe, like Brandon's
brother Kyle, that Brandon's running off
was due to a paranoid episode from the
affects or later afteraffects of
methamphetamine).
If the human remains found are Brandon's,
the clothing may support this theory - cloth
that was situated between the legs should
be blood drenched, cloth about the waist
and higher should have only such blood as
would occur from Brandon wiping his hands
on it. In the event, all clothes may be too
degraded (i.e. from ultraviolet) & in shred
pieces - however, his shoes (Nike Air Max
circa 2013) shouldn't be too degraded, it
would be expected that the instep of the
shoes should show blood soaking (from
blood dripping and running down his
legs) while the outstep should show lesser
blood. If any socks didn't soak up too
much blood, there ought to be blood
inside the shoes, particularly on the
instep part of the shoe. (Of course,
blood would have majorly flaked off since
2013, but i.e. luminol or such tests should
indicate an excessive amount of blood
was formerly present, as I am suggesting).

One other point - member Stella earlier
in this thread believes the words 'Help me'
are said faintly at the end of the 911 call -
possibly Brandon realized he was growing
faint and then passed out. I understand
his phones calls were being routed through
a certain mobile tower during the 911 call,
then approximately several hours later a
short 'ping' or electronic connection was
made to a different cellular tower (about the
bridge, I understand) by his mobile phone.
This can be explained by Brandon having
collapsed at the end of the 911 call and his
mobile phone having fallen and ended up
partially under or (electronically) shadowed
by his body, rocks, etc., from that mobile
tower, then the several hours or so later
electronic 'ping' having occured as a result
of his mobile phone battery being at the
point of going flat - there is a point where
the voltage fluctuates about the almost flat
level, the mobile phone battery probably
went flat (phone off) then momentarily
the voltage rose back up slightly enough
to cause the phone to act as if it had just
been powered on (so it searched for a
cellular tower to connect to), the best
signal the phone found was now the
near-bridge cellular tower, it pinged
that tower momentarily but then the
battery voltage dipped down and the
mobile disconnected as the battery
went completely flat (so went below a
voltage level that couldn't power the
phone at all any more).

This was the very first case that brought me to Websleuths, I spent HOURS reading all the threads. I'm so glad he has finally been located, but like you, I do feel there is more and that foul play was involved. Sadly I don't think we will ever know the answer to that :(
