It is approximately 30 miles from BL's house to where he ran out of gas. Most vehicles average 16-20 miles per gallon which would mean he only had a couple of gallons of gas when he left his house which is crazy when you know you are about to travel 400 miles! It doesn't make sense at all!

Actually the way BL was traveling is the fastest way to Crowley. Head up to I-20 and fly into Ft. Worth/Crowley. The back way at that time of night is 2 lane roads and very small towns-no gas stations hardly and lots of deer! SLOOOOWWW way to go.

Or you are implying the truck was left there by someone else and Brandon was miles away? And the 911 call from Brandon was in a different area, yet close to Bronte???

I feel that if BL was headed towards Crowley there would be no reason to have been going towards Bronte. Crowley is in the other direction completely.

Now if he was headed towards Abeline, like the 911 call stated, then it was not odd for his truck to be found in Bronte. Why would he have been headed to Abeline? Idk. Its strange. maybe to pick someone up or drop them off on the way to Crowley?

I think that Ivy girl may have been living in Crowley. I need to look into it to see.

I don't think the cops lied about where the truck was found. it is possible that if he called and spoke to 911 that he could have not been at the same location as his truck was found and if there was foul play the suspects could have just dumped the truck there for some reason.

Abilene to Crowley is interstate and much safer travel that time of night. It makes just as much sense to go via Abilene as it does to go via 67. Same difference in my opinion.

Agreed I take I20 when I go to Bronte. Even the locals will tell you theres no right or wrong way to go

I'm sure some people go through Abilene to go from San Angelo to DFW, but it's not the usual way. The typical way to go is on 67 through Ballinger up to Coleman, then turn north to the interstate at Cisco. SA to Cisco takes 30 minutes longer to get to the interstate than to Abilene but overall trip to DFW is quicker, and starting on 67 when leaving SA is an easier drive than 277 from SA- Split four lane highway from SA to Ballinger vs. two lane highway from SA to Bronte.

Going through Bronte is the more desolate "back way" of traveling from San Angelo to Abilene. So even if one is going to Abilene there's an easier way. There are two ways of equal distance (277 or 67) but 67 is the easiest and safest way to go to Abilene at night, better highway as mentioned plus 277 gets hilly with a lot of curves (with decreased speed limit through the curves) as you enter the "Big Country" past Bronte, plus more deer.

Meth is a hell of a drug, and I'm willing to bet that everything that happened to Brandon was a result of a meth-based psychosis. I honestly think he took off into the wilderness and succumbed to the elements.

But why was there was no remnant of any of his belongings? Or even any remnant of his body? Why the cell pinging miles and miles away (further than he could have walked (especially if in a 'state') by the time it last pinged and he disappeared. I've noted in articles and interviews that there's no way he could have crossed that distance in the time he would have had to, and if he was tripping balls, all the more.

AFAIK, when the phone last pinged at 1:19am, it placed him a mile away from the truck?

Wallet, keys, an article of clothing, belt, a shoe. Maybe wild hogs ate *everything* but that seems like a real write off. The fact he and everything on him is nowhere to be seen, and that nothing was ever found is perplexing (if we do down the perish route) -- as for the ping, I read that one of the final pings was near the river, ages away?

I'm curious about that stretch of road during that time and what the area was like. I have seen posts on various sites from locals remarking that they wouldn't pause on that road after a certain time, and that they've gone past what looks like things you want to keep driving past. I think the time period, who and what was operating in the area at the time, and for sure, it'd be interested to know if anyone interviewed a gas station attendant about anyone who popped in before or after the time he was last seen. Anything off.

I’ve seen someone shot before in front of me and have fled from gun shots too and I don’t hear anything that sounds like shots there. The sounds I hear sounds like a vehicle going over bumps in the road or a heavy vehicle like a truck or car with a trailer going
over a bridge. Besides, we know he wasn’t shot and killed or executed on the phone call because he later placed the calls to his brother and his brothers wife so he was clearly alive after speaking to the operator. From most of the opinions that I read it seems that many ppl don’t know he actually talked to his brother after that 911 call. It’s assumed that he was killed on the 911 call or shortly after.

Also didn’t his partner record the phone call via her phone while listening to it in a police station? It’s entirely possible that many of the background sounds like the “detective” or “protect yourself” that people are hearing are coming from the background noise in the cop station . I also read on here before in one of the older threads that his wife recorded the recording illegally and she wasn’t supposed to record it and share it. Given that, she must have concealed the phone in her pocket or underneath a table or something to record it further making it difficult to decipher what is coming from where in the audio. The call is CLEARLY edited and trying to decipher it is probably a wild goose chase.

Some people hear what they want to hear.

There's also a lot of conjecture that there was a third party captured on the recording, because they want to believe it was foul play instead of a tripping drug addict babbling nonsense.

Just as some people want to insist it is a tripping drug addict.
This is why I love this website. It allows everyone to share their opinions so others may or may not see a different perspective. I have followed many cases on Websleuths and I come into it having one opinion. When I read some other peoples post, I learn things I never would have even thought about. That is what makes this website different than most. Rumors are not allowed, but theories and opinions are allowed.

If you go back to the very early threads talking about the background sounds, one person who is an audio specialist described the sounds at the end. He stated it has something to do with the recording device. I am of the opinion the sounds at the end are just artifacts from the recording. I have listened intently to this recording hundreds of times and I never hear anything about a trooper nor do I hear gunshots. Doesn't mean it isn't there, I just don't hear it!

If I remember correctly, Ladessa was given a recording of the 911 call. I don't think she secretly recorded it, but I do think she released her copy with or without LE permission. Being from Texas and also the area he went missing, I feel like I understand most of his word well. There are a few I miss because they are inaudible. Was he using again? Yes according to his brother. Was he tripping? We may never know. Was there a third party? I am pretty sure I hear it, but someone else may not. Doesn't mean I am right, nor does it mean I am wrong. We may never know in Brandon's case.

I do think some day his body will be found far from the area he went missing....

I speak country like Brandon. So i'd like to add a few comments. When he says he ran in to someone, that doesn't necessarily mean he hit them with his car. If I say I ran into someone that means happened upon them without expecting to. Also the part where he says pushed them over(a lot of people say pull but I hear push) would mean to rob them.

I think he had someone with him. They either wanted upon or was part of a drug deal that went south. I've unfortunately been around a lot of people on meth. Them- not me lol. And they hallucinate but I've never known of anyone overdosing on it personally. And he told his brother he was bleeding.

The water was knee deep at best that day due to a drought from what I read. I wonder if anyone's checked under the bridge. I used to live next to a secluded type bridge, and for some reason people like putting bodies up under them(there's a space where bridge meets road and makes a hallow pocket).

bourbongal-thank you for your input! I agree with your opinion of he ran into someone.....he came upon someone. That infers there was more than one. I too think it could have been a drug deal gone bad, but how do you run out of gas on your way to a drug deal unless they eventually came to him.

His truck was a couple of miles from the river. And yes, that part of the Colorado river is very shallow. I don't think he had time to get from his truck to the bridge in the time he ran out of gas.

There have been several searches with dogs. The bridge is on a very well traveled road. I think he would have been found if he was under the bridge.

"Some guys chased me into the woods" would mean he had to cross a fence made out of barbed wire. You can get cut very easy from barbed wire. It isn't easy going through it unless someone else is holding two strands apart so you can climb through. I always assumed that's where the blood came from.

The only reason I think someone is with him is at the very end....
911 operator: Do you need an ambulance?
third person (sounding like someone heavy is sitting on him) says: "Yes" at the same time....
BL says: No...I just need the cops.

To me it is obvious someone else is there since BL's body is not found. He didn't kill himself, help was close by so he wasn't lost so it appears to me someone else harmed him and took his body....or took him with them and harmed him later. To me he really did "run into someone" and they hurt him. MOO

For what it’s worth, on the 911 call where everyone thinks he says something along the lines of “I ran into them”, I hear, “I told him I didn’t know him”. It’s the operator that says ‘oh you ran into him’

Actually, Brandon does say "I totally ran into them" and the 911 operator says..ahhh. you ran into them.

Are we sure that he was actually out of gas? I'm curious if anyone tried to start his truck or just took his word for it and brought gas.

If nobody else is missing that he had connections to, that means someone got away. If you believe as I do that he was talking to a third party.

This is taking severe liberties. But could his brother have been with him and they got separated when they were running? Like maybe he's afraid of whoever he ran from and isn't giving the full story. I read he passed two polygraph tests. So this one's extra baffling. I don't think the police are involved other than not caring and seeing it as one less criminal.

When my brother was found deceased, they ruled it a suicide. He supposedly used a shotgun. Was in his car. No blood was in his car except for the spot his head was laying. Then maybe a teaspoon. He supposedly shot himself in top of his head going down. A police officer told another person he was dead an hour before his body was found

One problem is BL went missing in an area with a very small sheriff's office.....no one or $$ to really work the case. Yet he lived in San Angelo but they did not have jurisdiction to work the case. By the time Texas Rangers were involved it seems like it was too late.
