As far as a landfill is concerned, I doubt it. In fact, I'm thinking that the general area where she is has been searched and she was missed. He was gone too long for a simple dumpster operation and then there's the damage to his car like he went down a dirt road somewhere and not that far as he probably would have been scared to have Christina in his car for very long. I believe he not only went down a dirt road, but he tried backing into an area off such a road so the trunk would be facing away from anyone who might have come by. That might explain the damage if he hit trees.

Where the sexual assault of the minor is concerned...I hope none of this comes back on the girl or causes her issues/problems. I don't want to see her end up as a pawn in this whole EA affair.

Home Depot sells Camouflage Tarps for $15.00...

ITA. She's in a place that's been searched or not far, and hopefully with the weather we've been having will help unearth evidence. I do fear this SA charge will harm this girl a lot. MOO So much hurt all around. Sad.

Because he was a free man until recently. Often victims are afraid to report these crimes in fear of retaliation. Once he was in custody, they probably felt safe to press charges.

Do you know this is the reason (she feels protected/safe) the young lady came forward now?
Or, are you stating this reason as being a possibility?

Because, if that's her reason and she has always wanted to go to police for over a year's time prior, it could indicate she's been and is afraid of him.

Or, did the police find an angle and they're using it (and using her too depending on how one looks at the situation).
If she was holding back but has always wanted to press charges, then I'm glad she's getting her chance to do so now.

There's also the chance that more evidence exists, but wasn't presented in the affidavit, as we saw previously.

I'm wondering if it was an app like Kik where it's basically texting but could be referred to as instant messaging as well.

It said Instant Messenger. I assume since they took EA's computer, it was indeed instant messenger.

BBM This is what I believe. And her world has been turned upside down now. I like the term "using her" I believe that to be true. MOO

Now there's a thought! We have a missing person out west of us. Went hunting on his property - about 50 acres of land - and never returned. Hasn't been found in spite of extensive searches. One possible reason given by the LE is that he was wearing very good camouflage.

There's a Home Depot 3.3 miles from EA's house... one-stop shopping: tarp & cleaning supplies. They open at 6:30am.. I would imagine LE has checked into receipts, etc. If it was cash, stores have video cameras... (I believe we have discussed all this, probably numerous times)

Yah, if there was video of him buying shovels, tarps, garbage bags, saws, etc., there'd be a murder charge. MOO

Yes, but how long do stores keep video surveillance? If there is no known robbery or crime, would they have kept it longer than a week? 4 days went by before Christina was reported missing - how many more days went by before LE went to the various places to ask for videos? He could well have gone into the Home Depot, paid cash and no one knew.

I'm not sure about that point. I think LE found out it and then approached the girl and, I'm guessing, then her family. From what Steve said, I think LE doesn't technically need the accuser for charges to proceed, but the "victim" wishes are often taken under consideration. I'm no lawyer, thankfully.

One factor that bothers me about this is that LE doesn't really care about the young lady.
I mean, maybe they do but that's not the reason they brought charges.
They're just looking to pile crimes on EA so they can keep him in jail.

We talk about being victim friendly here. Has anybody ever frantically run into a police station looking like a muddy mess exclaiming "he tried to rape me" only to end up feeling like you're an idiot?

I'm projecting my own experiences while reading about this newest charge.
Sorry for that but it does influence how we look at situations.
That's why before (in my deleted posts), I was trying to get to the bottom of the gravity of the situation from the victim's perspective.
My incident above, is a separate one/type altogether.

Sorry to my local police department at the time, that I put you out by asking for an escort home after my ordeal to make sure I'd arrive safely. Sorry for the imposition.

That's true... LE stated that the Sprint store video had already recorded over itself..

Home Depot is actually one of the easier ones for LE to obtain video. If LE's email can handle a large enough file, HD's system is set up to email videos to LE. There is still the problem of trying to pick him out. HD's videos not only include the check out area, but the parking lot, aisles, loading dock, any additional entrances/exits. I know of one case where an investigator knew approximately what day and time the person he was looking for went through a check out in a HD and it took him over a day to find them on video.

I am sorry you had that experience, WBG. My own experience with the police indicates that they hardly exude empathy. I hope that they assign the young woman and her family a victim advocate and that that person acts as more than just a minder, if you know what I mean.

If you are referring to burning CM's belongings, I guess it's possible. A small fire out in the middle of nowhere might not be noticed or seem unusual (portable grill, labor day cookout). As far as burning a human body, I doubt it. The cremation process (IIRC) takes about 3+ hours of intense heat..

As far as EA knew, he could have heard a knock on the door Saturday evening, wondering where CM was...

There are two cases from not too long ago - one of them involves a girl who tricked her former bf to come over to a location where her current bf (and others) murdered the young man. They burned him in a backyard fire. There wasn't a container, just an exposed area on the ground where a fire was built and some stones placed around the perimeter.

In another case, a young lady attending her first year at Northern Illinois U, went to an adjacent wooded area to sketch (she was an art student).
A local man, in broad daylight, attacked her and killed her. He burned her body in a regular circular fire area and nobody ever noticed.
So it is possible to burn remains without detection in rather normal settings that are not completely isolated. Go figure.

I am sorry as well. Great post. My personal experiences for sure impact how I view this. I never reported what happened to me for a variety of reasons. One being I knew him and he is very good friends with a relatives husband (we all grew up together). There are other reasons but I knew he would always be around. Anyway, I put myself in Jennifer's shoes. I also never reported. If LE had found out and asked me about it, of course I wouldn't lie. Coincidently, the police district it happened in my dad and uncle worked at the time along with a slew of people I would have felt comfortable telling the truth. I would have felt livid, shamed, pissed, violated, etc if they pursued the charges. That should be MY choice and no one else's. I often put myself in Jennifer's and wonder how she feels. People will learn her identity. Things should be on her terms IF she wants to share the details. She will be asked to discuss intimate details of her past. That is her private life. It really has bothered me because I feel that she is being used and violated by the system. IF they have such a strong case to keep him locked up for 99 years they don't need to put her through this. Personally I think they should have waited until after the AK then if everything failed and they had no choice go with this. I would still disagree bc it is at the expense of someone else. Her mom said she knew. That should be their choice. LE doesn't arrest everyone for everything they do that's illegal. Let's stop playing games.

I believe that as well. And I also believe that LE would probably admit it and tell you they are looking out for the greater good of community safety. LE works with the finesse of a bricklayer most of the time, in fact I think that if they would have used a little finesse, they could have had the partygoers telling everything they knew from the beginning.

I guess there's no way for us to tell what kind of phone EA was texting his g/f from, but due to him treating Sprint like a candy shop, I would assume he was using a smart phone and I would assume most smart phones have the capability to send messages to another mobile number as either "text messages" or through your data plan (IM aka Instant message and/or Internet message). For iPhone users, if your sent messages appear as green, they are being sent regular text message. When they are blue, they are considered an IM (iPhone's version is called iMessage) and they will appear blue. On a phone bill (it's been a while since I've paid attention to mine so I could be wrong), but an IM, since passing through data and not text, will not show an associated phone number, just as used data. Obviously LE is able to retrieve detailed messages beyond what we can see on our phone bill, so they either got it from one of many storage devices he possessed OR the wireless provider handed them all of the stored messages on the server after receiving a subpoena or warrant for it.

True enough. I wish LE (in general, not just PPD) would proactively protect us. If you think about it, LE writes tickets and waits for crime to be called in. They're so concerned about a 16 year old being sexually assaulted yet the 13 year old who was called in as a MP is "probably a run away." Blah. Sorry for the rant. Frustrating when LE picks and chooses what they want to throw their book at.

On another topic, heroin overdose resulting in death has increased 30 percent since 2010.
What a scary statistic.

o/t ~ Not to start a LE bashing session but, the other day, a young man in my neighborhood was driving home from work just before 9PM. He was on a peripheral side street when he noticed a cop car tailing him. He slowed down even more (he wasn't speeding) and the cop pulled him over at that time. He rolled down the window and asked the cop why are you following me so closely? Cop asked him, "Do you have anything illegal in your car?" wth?
He said, "No" (and he didn't). He noticed and mentioned to the cop whose car identified him as being from the unincorporated area nearby, that he wasn't in his jurisdiction so why was he tailing him in the first place?
The cop replied, "Good thing you know your laws, kid". wtwtwt hell?

Why was he tailing him? Weird.
