TX - CPS takes custody of boy mauled by dogs

While investigating the dog attack officials with CPS discovered the child’s parents, Patricia Denise and Chance Wayne Walker, both have a history of methamphetamine use.

When asked about her drug use Patricia Walker claimed to have been clean for nearly a year and voluntarily gave an oral swab. The test showed the presence of methamphetamines and amphetamines.

one week before the attack Chance Jr. had been given over-the-counter medication after being scratched by the dogs that ultimately mauled him.

Patricia Walker also told the investigator that one year ago one of the dogs had “nipped a little neighbor girl in the face”.

Fort Worth - The parents of an 18-month-old North Texas toddler mauled by dogs in the back yard of the child’s grandparents have gotten four-month jail terms...

Chance Walker Jr., was 18 months old when he slipped through a pet door into the back yard when he was attacked in January. Affidavits said Patricia Walker tested positive for methamphetamine, and Chance Walker Sr. declined to take a drug test.

April 2012:

Chance and Patricia Walker got probation with deferred adjudication for their guilty pleas to injury to a child, meaning the conviction won't go on their record if they satisfy the terms of their probation...

The four dogs involved in the attack were euthanized.

The child is in foster care.

According to the arrest affidavit, the Walkers went to sleep the afternoon of the attack, knowing their son could get out of his playpen and crawl through a doggy door into the yard.

It further states the Walkers knew the dogs were aggressive and had attacked another child...

The day of the dog attack, the victim's grandmother was briefly jailed for going after a neighbor who had complained about the dogs.

Lena Walker faces an assault charge.
