He broke in, handcuffed them all, and shot them in the back of the head. So he is alleging he went off because she changed the locks, and he just happens to carry around eight pair of metal handcuffs.....This was totally planned....lock or no lock.....IMHO
SABBM Emphasis mine

Sure sounds premeditated !!!! I was wishing he'd meet someone worse in prison and make the guy mad..... but Conley's already the lowest of the low. Executing children ? It doesn't get ANY worse than this ; imo.
Can't imagine what his defense lawyer is going to come up with.
IMO

So he 'went off because she changed the locks>? ' Sounds like he proved she was right to change the locks. Too bad he wasn't off the streets already.

I'm not sure if this particular article has already been posted. I think it's a problem that the sheriff talks about this resulting from a "dispute" between Conley and Valerie Jackson. This man has a long history of abuse of women and to say it's a result of a "dispute" makes it seem like she was equally at fault. That doesn't mean I'm trying to say she was perfect (another article a nice Websleuther posted here mentioned CPS involvement for neglect of the kids) but she doesn't seem to have a criminal record for violent abusive actions. He does.

I can't link from my phone, but I THINK I read a 6th child was added to the tragedy

"The dead were identified as Dewayne Jackson, 50; his wife, Valerie Jackson, 40; and their children D* 10; H* 11; C* 9; T* 7; and J*6. Also killed was a 13-year-old, N*, who was believed to be Conley's son from the relationship with Valerie Jackson. The sheriff's office had earlier said that there were three adults and five children killed." bbm & kids' names.

"In 2013, he was charged with aggravated assault for threatening Jackson with a knife. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine months in the county jail.In 2000, he was arrested for retaliation, accused of putting a knife to his then-girlfriend, threatening to kill her, her baby and himself. That came after she filed an assault charge against him for cutting her with a knife and punching her in the face. He was sentenced to five years in prison for retaliation. It was unclear if that woman was Valerie Jackson.
Clopton said Valerie Jackson and Conley were in a relationship, which ended, and "then (Dewayne Jackson) began a relationship with Valerie, which led to five children. At some point that relationship ended and the defendant began another relationship with Valerie. At some point that broke down," Clopton said." bbm

Serial criminal charged with murder after 'tying up and executing his son, ex-wife, her five children and new husband' at a family home in Houston

David Conley, 49, was charged with one count of capital murder

Deputies learned a man wanted for assault was inside the house

They then spotted the body of a juvenile through a window

They forced their way in but a male suspect began shooting at them

All eight victims - five children and three adults - were shot in the head

Court records show Conley's criminal history dates back to at least 1988

Blondie your information is contradictory:
"his son, ex-wife, her five children and new husband" = 2 adults and 6 children

Then you say:
"All eight victims - five children and three adults - were shot in the head"

This is awful. I feel for the LE officers too. Its hard to say if the people were already all dead when he first fired at the officers or not. But even if they weren't, LE has to protect themselves as well and it is one of the toughest situations they could face. If they stormed the house they could be killed as well.

I do wonder why tear gas wasn't thrown into the house when LE first retreated. But I cannot second guess them. I don't know all the facts yet or how it went down. Its a tragedy no matter.

Maybe when they know other innocents are in the home they don't throw tear gas in.

"At that point, the sergeant and three deputies forced their way in, and Conley began shooting, the sheriff's office says. Deputies pulled back and waited for the HROU and a negotiator to arrive."

HOUSTON -A judge who dismissed a state effort to keep six children in foster care two years before they were found dead in their Houston home said Wednesday that he was never told the kids were in any "immediate physical danger."

Juvenile Court Judge Glenn Devlin took the unusual step Wednesday of commenting on the 2013 case, issuing a statement defending his decision to return the children their mother, Valerie Jackson, and to David Conley, who now faces capital murder charges for the fatal shootings of the kids, Jackson and her husband.

Child Protective Services filed a lawsuit and removed the children from their home amid allegations of neglect and a history of domestic violence. The agency sought to keep them in foster care. Devlin returned the children home a month later, after Jackson and Conley agreed to counseling, among other things.

A lawyer for a Houston man accused of killing eight people in a horrific episode of domestic violence in August indicated Wednesday that he may not face the death penalty because of his intellectual disability.

David Ray Conley, 49, was charged with three counts of capital murder, accused of fatally shooting his estranged ex-girlfriend Valerie Jackson, her husband and six children, including his own son, one by one in the head.

"There's a lot of testing being done," said Conley's attorney Philip Scardino. "I can't tell you what the test results are, but there's some indication that our client may have an intellectual disability."
