Circumstances of Recovery: Rancher was working cattle on his land and found what appeared to be a human skull and contacted the Ector County Sheriff's Office. ECSO responded to the scene and conducted a multi day search with our office and found a skull, jaw, teeth, 2 pieces of a pelvis and 2 femur bones. Sent to Tarrant County ME for examination and confirmed human, and possible time since death of 2 years or maybe as long as 5 years or greater due to our regions climate.

Condition of Remains Not recognizable - Partial skeletal parts only

Clothing: Found near the body were: "blue mid top Adidas shoe, a Carhartt black/brown reversible, tan Signature taper by Levi Strauss pants, a 2002 Audi flip key fob and a black hair tie."

I was hoping that they might be able to track the key fob but apparently they are very easy to buy. There are a ton available online for just $20-30. I wonder if the hair tie means it is more likely that the UID had long hair or if it's just an incidental finding?

I was looking at google earth images of the coordinates listed and, assuming they’re accurate, it’s a pretty remote area. I’m thinking the items found near the remains most likely belonged to him. It’d be a pretty odd coincidence if not.

I searched the databases for anyone who went missing with an Audi who might fit....there was no one unfortunately. I was hoping that’d be a good clue.

After working with the Texas Rangers Unsolved Crimes Investigation Program and Othram Inc. to conduct DNA analysis, ECSO finally were able to confirm that the remains were that of Timothy Daniel Gomez.

They had exhausted all leads. Few skeletal remains were recovered. DNA testing helped them get an ID, but more importantly it happened after 2 years instead of 20.
