MCKINNEY, Texas (Gray News) - An Amber Alert was issued by the McKinney Police Department in Texas for two girls who are believed “to be in grave or immediate danger,” according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

The agency says police are searching for 9-year-old JesB and 6-year-old JeB.

Both girls were reported missing on Thursday.

JesB is 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 90 pounds and has blonde hair with blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a red long-sleeved shirt with black shoulders, blue jeans and dark-framed glasses.

JeB is 4 feet tall, weighs 60 pounds and has blonde hair with blue eyes. She was last seen wearing purple-framed glasses, a light blue shirt with sparkle designs and blue jeans.

Police believe Jame Burns is connected to the abductions, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The 60-year-old white female is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 230 pounds and has blonde hair with brown eyes. She was last seen in black clothing and driving a black SUV in McKinney.

Officials did not identify the connections between the two girls and Jame Burns.

Anyone with information about the Amber Alert is asked to call McKinney police at 972-547-2700.

McKinney is approximately 30 miles north of Dallas.

MOD NOTE: Please use the children’s initials only when discussing this case. JesB, JoB and JeB.

A 60-year-old woman is accused of taking her two granddaughters — who were last seen during a Child Protective Services-supervised visit Thursday evening — prompting an AMBER Alert early Friday, police said.

JesB, 9, and JeB, 6, who are sisters, were last seen in the area of 320 North Central Expressway in McKinney shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the alert and police.

The two missing girls were last seen at a restaurant at that location, where they were "having a supervised visit with their non-custodial father, along with CPS, who had temporary custody of the girls," a police news release said.

[...]

Police did not say the father was involved in the incident, aside from being at the CPS-supervised visit.

Oh no. Two precious littles - allegedly grabbed by Grandma. I'm not understanding how two little girls got whisked away while on a 'supervised' visit with their dad and grandmother. I'm trying to get my head around how this is even possible, unless the CPS person left them and went ... to the bathroom? outside to smoke? to their car for something? Obviously either well planned out between dad and gram or ... spur of the moment surprise opportunity.

The car should be easy to find, maybe it won't take long ... don't like the reference to 'grave danger'. Moo

On supervised visits in public places, the CPS worker will usually stay a distance away from the family, to give them privacy. It's somewhat likely she was doing something on her laptop or phone, and missed them quietly slipping away.

They need to be located, and returned to the temporary custody of CPS, but I think there's every reason to hope the girls will be found well and safe.

AMBER Alert issued for two McKinney girls last seen during CPS-supervised visit, police say

LE has arrested the Father, also on kidnapping charges. So, Grandma and the Father must have planned this. Mother of the girls is deceased. I am concerned that all the warnings talk about danger. They have license plate and car model for the Grandmother.
The article also says that the children's mother died, but it doesn't say when. It also says that the father has a has a record from 2005 for burglary of a habitation.
I tried to copy and paste from the article, but for some reason it didn't work.

Noting:
  • LE said the girls' father, Justin Burns, was believed to be involved iand was arrested and charged with two felony counts of kidnapping.
  • The CPS worker called 911 on Thursday night to report the girls were missing,
  • Jame Burns has a criminal history; in 2005, she was charged with burglary of a habitation. The case ended in a plea.
  • FBI is involved.

The girls were last seen just before 6 p.m. on Thursday at a Cici’s Pizza Restaurant near Central Expressway and Virginia Parkway in McKinney.

Investigators spent the day checking with area businesses to see if anyone had surveillance video of the girls being taken from restaurant.

Employees at a nearby restaurant said they heard what sounded like an argument in the parking lot but didn't know it involved a kidnapping until police arrived.

The CPS worker called 911, according to police, when the grandmother showed up and took the sisters.

Police said the girls' father, Justin Burns, was at the restaurant when officers responded to the scene.

[...]

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, in September of 2021, Allen police arrested Jame for possession of methamphetamine and child endangerment. The report states she had three grandchildren in the car with her.

Based on Jame’s history, McKinney police the sisters are in grave danger.

Agreed, esp. if CPS was present, they muct have security protocols in place ?
Maybe Jame produced a weapon ?

Eta : Sounds like the cps worker called LE.
So they did the right thing !
But Jame apparently took the girls before the cops arrived.

What a scary job to have for the cps employee .... tensions running high and maybe people who are enraged.
Some of the worst parent feel they still have every right to their children, regardless of their past criminal record, or the present circumstances.

Hope this is wrapped up soon and JesB and JeB are found safe !

Good job, dad, ... now you won't get the girls for a long time.
Maybe that's for the best ?
Imo.

Is this grandmother?? Clearly something going on with her health!!
Hmmm...
Maybe lifestyle choices ?
The reason LE believe the girls to be in danger is due to her earlier meth-related arrest.
