Just got off of the phone with Bedford PD. Officers tell me investigators still treating Kaytlynn Cargill case as "missing runaway"

Same age as me daughter as well... makes this one really tough. Its so awful for whichever family gets this horrible news, but I do hope it's not her. Not sure they could be positive either way at the scene...?

So when the body was discovered, it hadn't even been 48 hours since Kaytlynn was last seen. If it is her, and if she was alive for a period of time after her disappearance, then the body would still be in decent shape, I would think, even though I'm sure it is very hot down in TX right now .

Rest In Peace to whoever this may be. I'm still hoping that it is not Kaytlynn ... just horrific to even think about something like this happening to a 14-year-old ....

She is TINY. She could easily be mistaken for a much younger child. Runaway or not, she's in danger.

Thank you, I completely agree. A child this age and this size is not safe regardless.

Going by the last tweets posted above I would assume that LE is sure that the body found at the landfill is not Kaytlynn. jmo

I wonder why they are canvassing the apartment complex? Do they think she returned there after leaving the dog at the dog park? Maybe they found something on her social media pointing to someone who lives close by?

Can I just tell you how much I hate the word 'runaway?' I know it may be what originally happened. Maybe. But people see that word and sometimes turn a blind eye. These kids that 'runaway' are at such a huge risk! Praying for Kaytlynn!

Bedford PD was on scene at the landfill. Sadly confirms to me police have high speculation it's her based on body and/or clothing. I did see a comment noting the body found was indeed a young female, but no evidence of that public confirmation yet.

I think they would know pretty quickly if it was not Kaytlynn, since it's only been a couple of days. Plus I would think (hope) they would let everyone know it was NOT her, rather than dragging it out suspensefully. That would be unkind.
