Did the mother call LE herself after receiving that panicked phone call from Lauren or was it not out of the ordinary?

Lauren Colvin Thompson sounded “disoriented and confused” when she called 911 on January 10, 2019, at 2:24 p.m. The 32-year-old was in a wooded area of Panola County, Texas and told the 911 dispatcher that someone was chasing her. The call ended abruptly, but officers were able to quickly pinpoint her approximate location and track down her vehicle. It was stuck in the mud on the side of a road in the Rock Hill community outside Panola County.

A friend told Dateline they had been with Lauren in the area fishing when Lauren ran off suddenly down the road. Authorities said her bank accounts and phone records have remained untouched. Lauren’s three children are living with family. She is described as being approximately 5’5” tall and weighing 135 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing dark-colored pants/leggings and a dark-colored hoodie.

The mother, Tori Colvin, has disputed some of these details on her FB page (public), including that the car was stuck in the mud.

Unless one of the people that were with her that afternoon decides to come clean about what happened - might not ever get the true story or find her body.

A lot of questions, strange circumstances and no answers. I feel sad for her children and her mother who is trying to find Lauren when there are people hiding information. How long has her children been living with her parents?

IMO, based on the numerous recent cases I've followed where the missing person is discovered VERY near their last location (not talking abductions), IF IF IF foul play not involved, her remains are NEAR last location. I would like to see another search.

A new lengthy article that is worth reading. The family has brought in a private investigator that seems to have reigned in many of the nonsense that was going on and creating all the issues between the family and police and get some sort of working relationship in place.

Still no answers in Lauren Thompson case, a year after she went missing from Panola County

Something that both Lake and Ortega expressed frustration over was a push from other outside parties not involved in the investigation to spread conspiracy theories or rumors about the case.

“The unfortunate part about that is we get really far-fetched tips that result from that,” Lake said. “But we have to check into them. So we’re exhausting a lot of time and resources looking into things that we know are very far-fetched. But we can’t not check it out. So really we’re spending a lot of time chasing rabbits whenever we could be working on something legitimate.”

Ortega said he hopes he can help re-center the investigation after all that chaos, making sure that the Colvin family and the sheriff’s office work together.

“As we’re working to sort of re-order the chaos and try to bring a new continuity to our conversations and a steady flow of information, just making sure it goes both ways and making them feel OK to sort of give us a bit more than what was given before,” Ortega said. “That’s been a bit of a challenge, but at the same time it hasn’t been fruitless.”

Baseless theories and speculation “pushed this chaos to places where it need not be,” Ortega said.

“But a lot of times in a lot of these cases where there’s sort of a lot of speculation and rumor and other stuff, I feel like sometimes it’s clear that law enforcement sometimes can have a hand in preventing that too by not always holding everything close to the vest too, letting some information out to allow people to understand what law enforcement is doing. There is some aspects of the investigation you want to sort of keep under the vest and not put out there to the world, again crime isn’t a reality show here, but again they work for the public. They answer to the public and most important they answer to the family.”

This case really reminds me of Erin Valenti and Adrienne Quintal. Panicked call - people chasing (after them) - missing young lady. I hope her family receives answers

There really are other people involved though. I do agree that it s very possible Lauren was intoxicated, and like Adrian may be very close to or in the search zone still. Since it was heavily flooded, it may be worth it for them to search a wider radius than normal or downstream of any waterway that could have carried her.

    From the Link above

There are possibly other new reward posters floating around that have not been approved by, nor are they associated with Lauren's family or local law enforcement," the PCSO said in a statement. "We, nor Lauren's family can verify the accuracy of any reward information on these other posters. Any reward poster or missing person poster verified by Lauren's family will say so on the poster."

The tip line can be reached by calling or texting (888) 411-4491. All tips will be forwarded to the PCSO and the Texas Rangers.

My name is Joey Ortega. I am the spokesperson for the Colvin Family. Please not that while the info may be passed to to law enforcement, the identities of those who provided that info to the tip line will remain protected if they wish.

We also established a new FB page where all official updates will be posted and allow a clear means of filtering out other false info or tip lines that have permeated this case.

This is incorrect. Lauren's vehicle was found further down 267 and down the small road to the left, 2691.

She was apparently attempting to leave 2691 and get back on 267.

The person is John Bandy. The woman he was with was his ex-wife whom he since then made a death threat against and another woman who is close friends, with Lauren. He is now serving time.
