Found Deceased TX - Lauren Elizabeth Thompson, 32, Panola County, 10 Jan 2019 *called 911, car found in a ditch*

IMO, based on the numerous recent cases I've followed where the missing person is discovered VERY near their last location (not talking abductions), IF IF IF foul play not involved, her remains are NEAR last location. I would like to see another search.

A new lengthy article that is worth reading. The family has brought in a private investigator that seems to have reigned in many of the nonsense that was going on and creating all the issues between the family and police and get some sort of working relationship in place.

Still no answers in Lauren Thompson case, a year after she went missing from Panola County

Something that both Lake and Ortega expressed frustration over was a push from other outside parties not involved in the investigation to spread conspiracy theories or rumors about the case.

“The unfortunate part about that is we get really far-fetched tips that result from that,” Lake said. “But we have to check into them. So we’re exhausting a lot of time and resources looking into things that we know are very far-fetched. But we can’t not check it out. So really we’re spending a lot of time chasing rabbits whenever we could be working on something legitimate.”

Ortega said he hopes he can help re-center the investigation after all that chaos, making sure that the Colvin family and the sheriff’s office work together.

“As we’re working to sort of re-order the chaos and try to bring a new continuity to our conversations and a steady flow of information, just making sure it goes both ways and making them feel OK to sort of give us a bit more than what was given before,” Ortega said. “That’s been a bit of a challenge, but at the same time it hasn’t been fruitless.”

Baseless theories and speculation “pushed this chaos to places where it need not be,” Ortega said.

“But a lot of times in a lot of these cases where there’s sort of a lot of speculation and rumor and other stuff, I feel like sometimes it’s clear that law enforcement sometimes can have a hand in preventing that too by not always holding everything close to the vest too, letting some information out to allow people to understand what law enforcement is doing. There is some aspects of the investigation you want to sort of keep under the vest and not put out there to the world, again crime isn’t a reality show here, but again they work for the public. They answer to the public and most important they answer to the family.”

This case really reminds me of Erin Valenti and Adrienne Quintal. Panicked call - people chasing (after them) - missing young lady. I hope her family receives answers
There really are other people involved though. I do agree that it s very possible Lauren was intoxicated, and like Adrian may be very close to or in the search zone still. Since it was heavily flooded, it may be worth it for them to search a wider radius than normal or downstream of any waterway that could have carried her.

There are possibly other new reward posters floating around that have not been approved by, nor are they associated with Lauren's family or local law enforcement," the PCSO said in a statement. "We, nor Lauren's family can verify the accuracy of any reward information on these other posters. Any reward poster or missing person poster verified by Lauren's family will say so on the poster."

The tip line can be reached by calling or texting (888) 411-4491. All tips will be forwarded to the PCSO and the Texas Rangers.

So the boyfriend who was referred to in the PCSO Facebook post, and shown in pictures on her Facebook page is JB? Don't want to put his full name out there, but it appears he is with someone else. How long ago did they break up?

Panola County Texas Sheriff's Office

The person is John Bandy. The woman he was with was his ex-wife whom he since then made a death threat against and another woman who is close friends, with Lauren. He is now serving time.

The fact that she left a casino w one grand is not being addressed, nor have LE confirmed they went over every second of the video from the casino. This troubles me, did she slight someone at the casino or reject them outright?
It's possible someone did follow her this time. I DK, these are my opinions and thoughts. Was still on the road or only road from the casino?

Where was it stated she was at a casino and left with 1k?

Did the mother call LE herself after receiving that panicked phone call from Lauren or was it not out of the ordinary?

Lauren's mother lived far from the area. A 911 call from her would have been impractical. She told Lauren to immediately call 911 if she felt in danger.

I'm not sure why the FBI pulled out or if they really did pull out. This is coming from "an advocate" that got involved with Lauren's mom. What comes from this advocate is not always reliable. The FBI agent was perhaps a friend of the advocate that was not supposed to be on the case. He was talking about the case to the advocate. This advocate has written some outlandish things that I personally know are not true. Some other people on here know this psychic advocate and also were dismayed to hear she was involved. Just because that one FBI agent was supposedly pulled from the case does not mean the FBI is not involved.

The"advocate", who credits herself for bringing the FBI on-board is a self proclaimed psychic/investigator named Karen Jannise who has a very public history of mucking up cases and hurting cases more than helped. Including this case. You can read more detail here From Breaking Silence to Breaking Bad

The FBI came on because the the Texas Ranger asked for their technical help with the p11 recording and the pings. They served that purpose and as I understand it since their part was done and there was no ruling of kidnapping to date they had no other reason to be involved.

What the advocate was saying is that everyone knows everyone there, so it's complicated.

The "advocate" was selling the same conspiracy drivel she tried to sell in previous cases she inserted herself into. It usually something along the lines of an elaborate conspiracy between law enforcement and the Aryan Brotherhood to maintain a criminal enterprise involving human/drug trafficking or an elite's super secret hunting human sport at exclusive hunting clubs and deer leases.

I don't know what to make of the story considering that there are two outside influencers "helping" Lauren's mother. And by "helping" I mean they are trying to build a revenue stream for their online work and what they have been saying is largely unsubstantiated. I don't know how much influence they have in pushing this new story out but I suspect it is very high.

The Texas Rangers have a Ranger assigned to her case. The story says the FBI is involved. Neither of those law enforcement entities are going to participate in a cover up to protect a relative of a Sheriff's Office detective.

There is one detail in the video that isn't in the article - when PCSO learned of the call to Lauren's mother prior to the 911 call to them. That would be on the 11th.

One thing I am curious about is that the story says that in the 911 call Lauren says someone is shooting at her but neither her mother (who has heard the call) nor the Sheriff mention whether or not gunshots were heard at all.

The call to Lauren's mother was approximately 15 minutes before her call to 911.

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

i have not read anything about this case on social media, or anywhere other than here on WS, but i'm going to go out on a limb and say that if she was running through the woods, on the phone with police saying someone was after her, and now she is a missing person, then it is very likely that the person she was running from caught up with her and did something to her or took her somewhere she did not want to go. seems ludicrous to think otherwise. (but that's only my opinion).

is there an active investigation still taking place?

Yes the case is very active and new leads have been turned up and being pursued.
