SHERIFF UPDATES MICHAEL CHAMBERS INVESTIGATION

Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks issued the following statement regarding missing person:

On March 10, 2017, Michael Glenn Chambers was reported missing to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office and has not been seen or heard from since that day.
In the past year Investigators with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office have conducted numerous interviews with family and friends in an attempt to locate any possible lead to the whereabouts of Mr. Chambers and where each person was on that date. Investigators have verified that the statements provided account for each person that would have had direct contact with Mr. Chambers. The Sheriff’s Office has conducted three different searches on and around his property in the 7000 block of FM 2101 using K9 teams trained in scent and cadaver searches, foot patrol, and aerial drones with no success. There have been searches in other areas of Hunt and Rains counties utilizing the Hunt County Sheriff’s Posse as well as highly trained search and rescue teams and all of this combined with a reward of $25,000.00 has not resulted in any information of value.
In February of 2018 the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office cooperated in the production for the television show “Disappeared” which will air on “Investigation Discovery” later this year outlining circumstances surrounding this investigation.
I have regular briefings with Lt. Roger Seals, Sgt. Ren Saxton, and Investigator Kelly Phillips on this case and I know that they have followed up on every single lead that has come into the Sheriff’s Office and sadly none of them have panned out. I’m grateful for their diligence on this case but what is needed at this time is for anyone that might know something to call the Sheriff’s Office. We owe it to Mr. Chambers and his family to continue this investigation and I pray that we can locate Mr. Chambers and find answers for his family.
Anyone with information on the disappearance of Michael Chambers is asked to call our TIP LINE at 903-453-6809 or email Sgt. Jeff Haines at jhaines@huntcounty.net. (BBM)

I believe Rains County is referenced due to the search of Lake Tawakoni, which lies within Hunt, Rains and Van Zandt Counties.

He sure is trying to make himself sound good now, isn't he.

Right or wrong, I have trouble reading any of his comments. Just my opinion.

My heart breaks for this family. I never thought he would still be missing one year later.

I've reread the first three threads on MC. I have 3 questions, for now, that I've not yet seen asked or answered anywhere.

First: Was the place in the shop where he routinely put his wallet and keys easily visible to anyone who went into the shop? Obviously, his wife, at least, knew where he would put them. I am wondering about anyone else?

Second: Has HCSO or the PI firm had any forensic specialists study police ( and any others that may exist) photographs of MC's blood drops on the shop floor?

Third: Did the Chambers' residence have the same type locks on the doors as had the shop- i.e., both a dead bolt and an inside button that you just turn to lock the door on the way out? Which door would MC have used to go inside the home when he returned from WalMart? I gather there was a door that led inside the house from the garage, and a front door, but know of no other entrances. I'd love to have the answers, but not sure how or if I can get them.

Well only a few of us here still regularly checking in for papaw it seems! Breaks my heart. Don’t understand how there can’t be more leads, more coverage, more searches. I know his poor family is feeling defeated right now. Damn!

I think that the recent discovery of Christina Morris’ remains and all of the kudos that the Plano Police Department received are making the hunt county sheriffs office feel inferior so now they are saying all they have done and asking for tips..

I am still hoping that there'll be more searches, even though it's mighty difficult to search unless and until something can point to a more specific area. Heck, it's probably impossible, although I hate that word.

They should feel inferior. IMO.
However, if they truly wanted to do something about it, they'd ask for help from other law entities. The same ones they have refused to bring in for over a freaking YEAR now.

You are so right Midge Montana!!! So very frustrating!!:tantrum:

Thinking of you papaw... hoping you will be found soon!

I hope it's not impossible. I am appalled at the apparent lack of searches, but that doesn't mean there's not still a chance to find Michael. Christina Morris was found years later in an area that had been searched previously. Same with Holly Bobo. Those cases had tons of searches, but it still took a long time to find the bodies. I hope the family can get a search group to help look. There were some volunteer mounted search groups looking for Holly. They didn't end up being the ones who found her, but they tried. LE in that case was not terribly helpful most of the time, either.

Where do things stand in terms of hunting seasons, weather/climate conditions etc in that area?

HCSO appears to think they conducted a lot of searching.... but, I certainly agree with you and had hoped there would be more. I'm no search expert, but I'd still search the property and beyond again. It's pretty hard to get out of my head that a number of missing persons were found in areas that had been previously searched, and searched pretty well. I just can't come up with other places one could search for Michael- thus my using the word "impossible." I suppose the most likely area might be Lake Tawakoni itself, and I realize it was somewhat searched and I also realize it's quite big.

I don't know the exact answers, flute, but do recall folks saying that deer ( and perhaps other game) season ran until sometime in December. The family had been planning a search that the HCSO advised them to postpone until after hunting season. A search would be easier to do before spring growth really gets going, but I don't know what it's like there at present. I can guarantee there's no snow cover like the 3 feet I've had at my house, however!

No open hunting seasons now in Texas. No snow on the ground. I'm in central Texas and we've had some pretty cold weather, for us, this year but no big snow. Ere have had alot of rain so that could possibly help uncover things. Temps have been mild to warm for the last week. Where i am this week is spring break.

I feel optimistic that the family will be planning another search, and that their PI firm is guiding them well.

I wanted to explain my thought process re: the locks, and locking, of the Chambers' house and the previous questions I'd asked as to what type of locks were on the home's exterior door/s.

I'll assume MC had the home and shop locked when he went to WalMart. I don't think anyone knows, or would ever know, if that was a fact.

MC went into the home after returning from WalMart, putting his purchases in the bedroom/bathroom and throwing the receipt into the bathroom trash. We don't know if he stayed in the house any length of time, having some lunch, or whatever, before he went out to the shop.

One of our VIs was able to confirm to us that MC usually did NOT lock the house when he worked in his shop, and that he would have at least one of the home's garage doors open for when Becca would return from her day's work.

On the day he disappeared, MC obviously went out to his shop, and left his keys and wallet in his habitual place there, and became injured somehow, leaving drops and a pool of drops of his blood on the floor.

If MC had left the house unlocked when he went out to the shop that day, how did the house become totally locked up (as was the shop)? To my, and it's MOO, MC himself was ambulatory after his injury and locked his home up himself before leaving the premises. If he was forced to leave with someone else, would that person LET him lock everything up, and why? I just cannot envision an abductor, thief, murderer, or whoever that person was, take the time to do those things himself. (or themselves) And why take the time to allow MC to do so? Did MC or the perpetrator/s take his keys, go lock the house up, return the keys to the shop, THEN make sure the shop man door was locked before leaving the property? Why?? It's all driving me nuts, but these are just a small part of my thought processes.
