Report: Slain Temple woman’s death ‘violent, unnatural, unusual’

The report released Friday describes the means of Scott’s death as “violent, unnatural, unusual,” but doesn’t identify a specific cause.

The report shows that the medical examiner found black adhesive residue on Scott’s face and neck; rib fractures with hemorrhage; and contusions and abrasions on her wrists and ankles, suggesting that the victim’s mouth was taped, her arms and legs were bound and that she was beaten.

    Dear DebW,

My deepest sympathies to you and your family. I think about Jenna’s daughter a lot. She must miss her mom so very much.

All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I don’t say things like this lightly or often, but I really want this pathetic non-human to suffer. Not only does he deserve it, he has earned it, IMO.

“The complete autopsy report of Jenna Scott revealed she had a difficult, violent death on Jan. 3.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office listed her cause of death as homicidal violence, noting Scott, 28, of Temple had multiple injuries that included contusions, broken ribs, internal bleeding and other injuries, but no drugs or evidence of drugs were found in her system, according to the toxicology report.

No signs of strangulation were found, which is how her friend, 32-year-old Michael Swearingin, died — also on Jan. 3 — according to earlier autopsy results.

The toxicology report for Swearingin also indicated no drugs were detected in his system.

Scott’s father, Jonathan Scott, told the Telegram in an earlier statement, ‘I don’t understand all of the medical terminology — but it appears that Jenna suffered a very violent death. It’s impossible for me to comprehend the level of hatred it takes to commit a crime like this.’

Thank you again for your kind words, new information and for your prayers. My husband, mother and I have been in Temple for a few days. Got to celebrate Easter with the Scotts. I will never take that blessing for granted. It will be very difficult to go back home. :(

On our way to church yesterday, we drove past the Bell County Jail. What a nice, new facility they have built. Far too nice for those two dregs of society. MOO

“BELTON — The formal arraignment scheduled Friday morning for double-homicide suspect Cedric Marks didn’t occur and has been rescheduled.

Marks, 44, wasn’t brought from the Bell County Jail to the Bell County Justice Center, Michael White, his defense attorney, told the Telegram.

Marks’ formal arraignments for the burglary of a habitation and capital murder of multiple persons charges were rescheduled for May 10 in Judge Fancy Jezek’s courtroom.

Maj. T.J. Cruz of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department discovered, after research, that the jail was never informed of the formal arraignment by White, so they didn’t know Marks was supposed to be in court. Paperwork has to be submitted by the attorney or the prisoners aren’t transported, Cruz said.

Other than the TDT article I posted yesterday, this is the most recent article I can find that talks about Maxwell. Unfortunately, I am not seeing any new information, including future court dates:

    Posted Apr 26, 2019

“MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI -- A Muskegon woman faces the death penalty if convicted of two murders in Texas for which her boyfriend, a mixed-martial arts fighter, also is charged.

Maya Renee Maxwell, 26, has been indicted by a grand jury in Bell County, Texas, for capital murder of multiple persons and tampering with physical evidence, which was the car belonging to one of the victims.

    [SBM]

Maxwell told police Marks also was involved in moving Swearingin’s car, and he too is charged with tampering with physical evidence, affidavits and grand jury indictments show.

“BELTON — The attorney for Maya Renee Maxwell, accused of the Jan. 3 slayings of Jenna Scott and Michael Swearingin, waived her arraignment Friday in a Bell County courtroom, Bell County District Attorney Henry Garza said.

Maxwell, 28, wasn’t brought to the courtroom.

Pretrial hearings for Maxwell on charges of capital murder of multiple persons and tampering/fabricating with physical evidence were set for 8:45 a.m. on May 24 in Bell County’s 426th District Court with Judge Fancy Jezek presiding.

Representing Maxwell in both cases is Wade Faulkner, a Salado attorney.

Assistant District Attorney Cristin Lane is prosecuting the case, according to court dockets.
