TX - Nadia Lee, 2, found deceased, mom is dead, dad is charged with both murders, Pasadena, 16 Oct 2022

Not trying to be graphic but there are other things in a trash can that would set this type of sensor off constantly. My hubby once left a pound of ground beef in the backseat of my car in the Florida heat, for a week! MOO but my car stunk like a cadaver for a month or more.

Check this out!!

The new system, designed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, consists of a slender probe that can simply be stuck in the ground to pull in air samples. It can even detect bodies buried beneath concrete, as long as you drill a 1/8-inch hole for the probe.

Even before Nadia was born, court records show there were problems. Both of the little girl’s parents have spent the last few years in and out of the Harris County Jail, and at one point, her mother even wrote to a judge begging for help.

[...]

Investigators said he called authorities and told them he was trying to keep Reed from harming their children.

Sacks said domestic violence cases can be challenging to investigate.

“There was a lot of nuances to what was happening, not just on that particular day, but again, there was a long history there," Sacks said.

According to court records, Lee has been convicted of minor offenses -- like theft and giving an officer a false report. On Reed's record, there is a history of family violence.

After an AMBER Alert was issued for her and one of her children in 2018, Reed was convicted of aggravated assault on that child and a protective order was filed against her. It was a different child than the one currently missing.

[...]

Later that year, court records show that Reed sent a letter to a judge asking for help. She told the judge the accusations were false, and that she was currently pregnant and suffering from postpartum depression.

[...]

“Children are one of the big barriers to leaving, again in this situation, there were five kids," Sacks said. “We don’t want to see kids hurt, by any means, so I think that’s another reason to try and help."

Thanks for sharing this. Really makes you wonder what really happened to Nadia.

Here's the info on the 2018 Amber Alert on the other child as mentioned in the article:

HOUSTON – An overnight Amber Alert of an 11-month-old girl was cancelled shortly after it was issued.
Texas Center for the Missing has issued a Houston Regional Amber Alert for the Houston Police Department for Naivya Zeira Lee early Tuesday.
Baby Naivya was found safe a short time later. Police have not released any other details.

ORIGINAL AMBER ALERT:
Naivya Zeira Lee is an 11-month-old, black female, last seen wearing a white onesie.
The baby is believed to be with her mother, 21-year-old, Nancy Reed, a black female, (DOB 12/23/96) who made threats against the child during a domestic disturbance at 10:00 PM on January 1, 2018. Ms. Reed was last seen wearing cheetah print pajamas.

"We have received information, as well as physical evidence, and digital forensic evidence to determine foul play was involved," Roberts said, adding that DNA was some of the evidence found inside Lee's apartment.

Sources say investigators believe Nadia was killed there.

"I don't think this is going to have a positive outcome we would like to have," Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch said. "One of my biggest fears is there may not be an outcome."

The area they’re searching that’s been roped off for about week is the size of a football field and could require them to dig eight feet deep.

“We’re going to have two big track hoes and man, and one bulldozer,” Miller said.

He said Equusearch crews are looking for anything related to the case that could help them, including addressed mail as they continue their comprehensive search as crews search for answers

“Eighteen people that are literally just cutting open every bag,” he said. “I’m hoping that anything’s not going to end up in a landfill. But for right now, wherever the ending comes up, you know, it needs to have an ending.”

Bless EquuSearch. They do try to help with those who don't get very little national media coverage. I hope they are able to bring Nadia home.

Friday afternoon, Texas Equusearch said new information prompted them to re-start search efforts for missing 2-year-old Nadia Lee in Pasadena.

Specifically, EquuSearch is looking along the bayou across from the apartment complex where Lee's father, Jyron Lee, lived.

[...]

“Our dogs did do some alerting on things when they were in the boat," said Tim Miller, the founder of Texas EquuSearch, near the bayou by Jyron Lee's home.

He now believes Nadia Lee may have been put in some kind of container.

“I’m not going to say what that containment is, but we are pretty sure of that," he said.

[...]

The weather could impact the ability to search, but Miller said he won’t give up on Nadia Lee.

“I think if she is in here, we are going to give it our best shot and bring in every resource that we can possibly bring in," he said. "We are far from done."

Texas Equusearch plans to meet with HPD homicide investigators on Monday. Next week, they’re hoping to get dive teams in the water.

Nadia hasn't been seen since about Oct. 16. Police believe Jyron Charles Lee, 26, inflicted such severe injuries on his daughter that he caused her death around that time.

While Nadia's body has not been found, charging documents detail the evidence prosecutors say they have against Lee.

According to court records, investigators recovered a stroller, washcloth, kids' mattress, multiple towels, and child and adult clothing, all with possible blood. The washcloth collected from the bathroom and samples collected from the mattress were later confirmed to test positive as blood.

After Lee's cellphone was extracted, investigators said they made notable findings in the Google search history such as, "Is whooping your child a sin," and "In the Bible, is it a sin not to spank a misbehaving child?" A search was made on Oct. 17 for, "How long it takes for a dead body to smell."

Investigators found pictures on his cell phone of injuries to Nadia's face. Documents said there is a picture of his daughter lying face down in a Minnie Mouse bed with apparent stains around the area of her mouth consistent with vomit and/or blood.

Nadia's father, Lee, was earlier charged with murder in the death of her mother, his common-law wife, Nancy Reed. Lee is accused of strangling Reed, 22, at a Clear Lake hotel on Bay Area Boulevard late Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Two of the couple's children, ages 1 and 3, were present at the time of the murder. They were not physically injured and were turned over to CPS custody. Family members confirmed the couple has five children together.

[...]

Relatives told ABC13 they were trying to help Reed escape what they felt was an abusive domestic relationship. They didn't have much contact with the children and couldn't provide information about Nadia's disappearance.

This is a absolutely horrible. I wish he would tell where her body is. Mom tried to tell the courts long ago it wasn't her hurting the kids. I wonder if they were in fact abused by both parents. Domestic abuse is terrible. I can't imagine kids being physically abused as well.

Bond was set for the Pasadena father facing a capital murder charge in the death of 2-year-old Nadia Lee during a court appearance on Friday morning.

A judge set bond for 26-year-old Jyron Lee at $1.85 million total -- $1.5 million for the capital murder charge in Nadia's death and $350,000 for the murder charge in her mother, Nancy Reed's death.

His bond was previously set at $150,000 in Reed's death, but the judge increased the amount on Friday.

Court documents state that Lee has a history of being investigated by law enforcement and DFPS for child abuse and neglect.

He certainly didn't put much effort into her disposal, did he? It's literally a minute or two away. MOO

According to Houston police, the remains were found in Vince Bayou.

Rest peacefully, sweet girl.
