San Antonio police are enlisting the public's help in identifying human skeletal remains found behind a Southeast Side nursing home.

On Nov. 4, officers were called to The Rio at Mission Trails nursing home in the 6200 block of S. New Braunfels Avenue around 11:30 a.m. after a visitor said they saw human bones behind the facility.

The remains belong to a Caucasian or Hispanic female between 20 and 40 years of age, police said Wednesday. The woman stood 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-7 tall with brown wavy hair. A bracelet was found on her body.

Officials ask anyone with information to call the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-7635 or the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office at 210-335-4011.

The remains were about 15 to 20 yards behind the building in a wooded area, SAPD spokesperson Doug Greene said at the time. The area where the remains were found was near a frequently used walking trail.

They appeared to have been scattered about by animals, making it difficult for police to determine how long the remains were behind the nursing home. Investigators estimated several months.

Police did not have many leads, a cause of death or identity, but female clothing and alcohol bottles were found near the remains.

"There is little evidence around, but CSI is collecting and documenting as much as they can," Greene said.

Police searched through missing person files and canvassed the area. The nursing home had not reported any of their residents going missing in the months prior to the discovery.

Maybe her parents reported her missing first (DLC May4 '20) and didn't know her boyfriend, who reported her missing two weeks later (DLC May 18 '20). You'd think, though, that the San Antonio PD would have straightened that out before adding her to NamUs. Odd.

No one appears to be looking for Bonnie

It looks like SAPD doesn't have a database updated since 2019 and NAMUS is always short on details. SAPD only reports endangered people.

Bonnie appeared to have a substance problem. One of her pictures on NAMUS is a FB profile from April 23, 2020 the other appears to be an old DPS pic.

Is the FB pic a filter thing?

She has another FB account where she is heavy set. (NAMUS says she weighs 200 pounds)

It looks like a wooded area where people may possibly cut through to get from S New Braunfels to S Presa.

Without a PMI. Some flesh etc - Ethnicity would be hard to determine.

Mitzi Gae Jones could be possibility.

Mitzi was last seen several miles from the nursing home.
The nursing home was/is actually in sort of a remote area.
Family sounds like they may have lost touch with her in the time leading up to her disappearance.
Sounds like she may have used a Hispanic surname
