I would say going missing from Fort Hood isn't unusual. That family must be in shambles given the recent cases.

    • Local police and the US Army are searching for 23-year-old Sgt. Elder Fernandes after a missing soldier alert was issued on Thursday night
    • Fernandes was last seen on Monday afternoon when his staff sergeant dropped him off at his home in Killeen - just four miles from the Fort Hood base
    • His disappearance follows the deaths of 11 Fort Hood soldiers this year alone. Of the 11 deaths, foul play is suspected in five of those
    • An independent investigation is currently underway into the embattled army base following the string of deaths and disappearance

1-5 missing/murdered is strange. but 11?! no sir. something is very wrong going on here. i don't trust they are unrelated either. if this was happening in a small town, they'd say there was a serial killer at work.

Elder Fernandes Missing: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com

KCENTV spoke to Fernandes’ mother, who said he had just been released from the hospital. She told the outlet, “We’ve been talking since last Tuesday. He’s been in the hospital since Tuesday. We’ve been talking every day, two-three times a day, and for him to get out of the hospital and nowhere to be found. it’s so much concern, worry. Its a nightmare right now.”

There is no confirmed information available at this time about his reason for hospitalization. According to a press release by the 1st Cavalry Division shared by Massachusetts State Representative Liz Miranda, Fernandes is described as a “missing high risk soldier.”

TEXAS EQUUSEARCH JOINS SEARCH FOR MISSING FORT HOOD SOLDIER

Texas EquuSearch is joining the search for another missing Fort Hood soldier.

Thursday night, Killeen police asked the public for help in finding Sgt. Elder Fernandes, 23. He has not been heard from by his family since Monday, Aug. 17, police said, when family members told them he was last seen by his staff sergeant.

His car with his belongings was found on post. He had just signed a new lease but never picked up his keys, according to his aunt, Isabel Fernandes.

"This is very, very unusual. He has been in touch with us since last week. I personally spoke to him Friday morning. He spoke with his mom this past Sunday and he promised he would call on Monday," Fernandes told ABC13. "Monday came and went and he didn't call, and he didn't answer calls from anyone else. Tuesday, no calls and my sister ended up flying down there yesterday, and still we haven't heard from him.

Tim Miller of EquuSearch will fly there tomorrow, he said. A search is being planned for Saturday.

Are you local to there? I am and I’ve lived here for nearly 15 years. This year has had the most missing covered by the news that I have ever heard of. And this is a very large base.

Hi @Ajs1004, being local in Killeen, do you feel there have always been a lot of missing persons cases, but they are just really covered by the media right now for the first time? Or do you feel the current situation is above and beyond where it has been?

This case again really worries me as EF never picked up the keys for the new place and contact family like he had promised, which is totally against his usual behavior.

I so hope he is located safe, but not very hopeful to be honest. :(

I agree... A Ft. Hood sub forum would make sense, if ok with TOS. I will report this post and see what Mods think.

Sgt. Elder Fernandes part of 'abuse sexual contact' investigation | kcentv.com

The post says a sexual assault response coordinator was working with Elder Fernandes and that he was transferred from his unit to protect him from retaliation.

FORT HOOD, Texas — An open investigation of "abuse sexual contact" involving missing Fort Hood soldier Sgt. Elder Fernandes was confirmed by the military post Friday evening.

"The unit sexual assault response coordinator has been working closely with Sgt. Fernandes, ensuring he was aware of all his reporting, care, and victim advocacy options," Lt. Col. Chris Brautigam, Fort Hood public affairs officer, said in a statement. "The unit also facilitated his transfer from a unit who has recently deployed to a different unit within the brigade to ensure he received the proper care and ensure there were no opportunities for reprisals."

    Snip

Fort Hood reported Aug. 21 that Fernandes "may have left Fort Hood on his own accord" following information gathered from other soldiers.

    Snip

“We are very concerned about the welfare of this soldier and first and foremost we want to ensure he is okay,” Christopher Grey, spokesman for CID, said in the release.

"Abuse, sexual contact". This is crazy. What sort of vetting do they do when recruiting? This seems to be endemic at Fort Hood. MOO

So, this article is saying he was the victim of sexual assault, right? Did I read that correctly?
What is going on at Ft Hood?
