While the curve is an important indicator, it is not the only important indicator. Other important considerations include genetics, prenatal care and early nurturance/care.

I cringe whenever I see a certain product ad on TV that suggests that if one's child is "lagging" on the growth chart then parents should purchase the product to "supplement" their regular diet. It implies a problem that can be fixed (and the ad seems to be calling parental competitive instincts for their child to be "competitive), and needs to be fixed, and that further the fix is contained in a supplemental beverage that may well be adding nothing more than additional calories.

Not suggesting that this family was on that particular path. Until I hear otherwise I will presume that Sherin was being seen regularly by a pediatrician who was properly diagnosing and prescribing for her. Just wanted to point out that a child who is small in stature may fall off the bottom of the charts and yet be completely healthy with proportionate weight and height.

Yes!!! My own daughter was tiny... so much so that the nutritionist was called to consult on her when she was admitted for asthma issues at the pediatric hospital. Said daughter is now 17... she didn’t get her period until 16 and was behind her peers until that point - one year later and she’s taller than my 5’2” and looks completely appropriate for her age.

This does not rule out that she may have a nutrient deficiency or GI issue that required supplementation... just that her size did not really raise any alarm bells for me...

IF he was actually doing laundry, I think it may mean the wife was not involved. He would probably have thrown the clothes away somewhere, but if she did not know what was happening, she might ask what had happened to some of his clothes. Thus, the laundry. MOO.

Not until after 5am. I wonder if he washed the car during that hour. If so, she would be closer to home. I hope car washes open 24 hours check their surveillance video.

I'm finding myself wondering about the trash, or a dumpster. I hate to even think that, but can't rule out anything at this point.

He may not have lied about doing laundry. He may have washed his clothes when he got back from wherever he went.

That makes complete sense - perhaps the mom "caught" him doing it and he had to add it to his story.

They took the cars. They determined one was absent from the house from 4-5am and are now asking neighbors for video.

Why not just search the car for evidence? Or are they trying to find out where the car went? This is so sad this now means if the car was missing for an hour she could be up to a half hour away since it be a half hour there and back maybe he used the tree story throw police off and purposely having them look by and around that area knowing she wasn't even there to avoid them finding her

I wonder about the sling and if she went to a clinic? Because my son fractured his arm when he was almost 4 and we went to the ER and the hospital social worker came in and questioned both my husband and I separately, and then asked our son for his 4 yr old version of events. And it turns out that the social worker was also part of CPS. [or DCFS in Cali] And they are often called in when a young child has an injury, just to check out the story.

Also, I told her to call our pediatrician to see that he does not have a history of injuries, and she said with a smile---" I already did."

Thank goodness my son was very verbal and was able to tell them what happened and it matched my story just fine. [husband wasn't home so he knew very little]

So if little Sherin had gone to a clinic or hospital for an injury, CPS might have followed up and asked questions.

I’ve worked in ERs in several hospitals in the Dallas area, including the biggest pediatric one... calling a social worker to investigate in the ER is not commonplace here unless the injury doesn’t fit the story or if any of the staff’s hinky meters go off. At the pedi hospital, a SW comes in and ultimately files the report with CPS. At other hospitals, it’s up to the nurse who cares for the kiddo to report the circumstances to CPS. In 7+ years, I only saw CPS in the ER like 3-4 times and that was only when immediate removal was needed and usually more related to the parent’s physical or mental health.

If she broke her arm... and elbow breaks are VERY common in that age group, if the story made sense there would be no reason to report. Now, if the story didn’t fit, a CPS report would have been filed.

They do have it. They asking people if they saw the vehicle Saturday, because they determined the car was gone that hour.

I work in Richardson but live in Greenville. I go backroads through Lavon, Wylie, Murphy, Parker. Still a lot of remote areas that way, as well as a lake ( Lake Lavon) . From East Richardson not a far drive. Lots of places to search. I sure hope GPS or surveillance videos point a general direction to start looking.

If it wasn't a victim who was in the car all the time then that would help, but unless she was dead and a cadaver dog signalled or significant amounts of bodily fluids are in the car, they really can't do much with the DNA evidence that is there. I think they are wanting to know exactly where this car was during that time so they can narrow down an area to search. That said, even if they do have signs that she is deceased they still need to know where the car may have been in order to recover the body. The car is likely equipped with GPS but we all know that isn't the best way to track a vehicle or missing persons cases with license plates and such would be solved immediately, instead of the car being found months later by hikers etc. I think they should look at the pinging of the cell phone, which I am guessing in this day and age, wasn't left at home during this ride!

As far as guilt goes now, they not only have the dad for child endangerment, but I expect him to also be arrested for obstruction in finding his daughter because now he has also lied about what he did after he says she went missing.

I agree with your trash/dumpster thought. An hour really isn't a very long time to go someplace, do something, and return home. I've gone to WalMart late at night to buy an item that I've decided I have to have right this minute and even though it's only about 3 miles from my house, by the time you stop for stop lights, get there, get what you want, go home and stop for a few more stop lights along the way---an hour has passed.
