They have no suspect. They barked up the wrong tree in the initial investigation thinking it was someone close to Missy. Trying to regroup and look in new directions. Hope it's not too late.

IMO, murder was planned. Missy was targeted, but not for personal or business reasons. Put simply, her routine and habits drew attention of killer.

MPD says social media rumors or a distraction. They got a tip last week that was unfounded and a waste of 30 man hours.

that's little ole small town assumptions/gossip/speculations for ya (everyone knows something or someone who is cousins/sisters/best friends/whatever and that's how the rumors spread).......I don't know why I feel it was a burglary gone very very bad.....poi caught by surprise/off guard. But I could be very wrong...and it could have been someone that knew/knew of MB and she had no clue existed or just knew as an acquaintance?

I will say that the theories some people have been stating are just wayyyyyy out there.....

Wonder what they mean by oval sticker? If the oval sticker is a marathon type sticker, then I would think all bets are on as far as looking at the inner circle.

Ok Locals, now it is your time to be on the lookout! When you are out on the roads, walking into places through parking lots, driving through neighborhoods- keep your eyes purposely searching for this car!

During the years I have been watching true crime shows there have been so many times when the perp turned out to be someone who LE said, originally, was not a suspect. When asked later, "but you said so and so was not a suspect," they always say "at that time we didn't have the information we have now." In this case now everything could change in the blink of an eye. JMO

I agree. While not right now, new information could be discovered/tips given that could change someone's status as a suspect or non-suspect. Not that I am saying it was family - JMO.

I guess now's the time to be on the lookout for Altima's that had the oval sticker and may not now.

The rain seems to have added extra coverage.

I wonder if perp pulled into the gun store to see if anything could be seen from there to the church - like if they'd really have the cover of night...or if possibly watching traffic.

Then maybe went to the church and took a cat nap before breaking in.

I've been on WS since 2003. I can't remember that ever happening. Wishful thinking anyway. :)
Here's one "Modesto police did not immediately identify Scott Peterson as a suspect, largely because Laci's family and friends maintained their faith in his innocence during the month following her disappearance.[SUP][5][/SUP] " https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Peterson

Those oval stickers are often the marathon stickers like so

somewhat useful presser. Perp's height estimate is now known. All family , friends, associates are not suspects. Initial theories did not pan out. social media not at all helpful. I do think MB was targeted. jmo. Time to re-think jmo

I hope they find the driver of that car ASAP. Because IMO it could've been someone that pulled over to check their phone or make a call or just wanted to stop because of the rain - so totally unrelated to the crime.

I have been so busy with work, somehow I missed that. My question is who gets the other portion?

The lucky u store/boutique, from what I can tell. The store stopped offering the donation part yesterday (it was for a few days).
For the benefit today, looks like everyone is donating their services during it...?

Yes, LE has drawn that distinction saying they wouldn't name a suspect until they had narrowed it down. There has never been a suspect named and the most LE has hinted at is having POIs. LE not having a suspect now is the same thing as it was a week ago or two weeks ago as there has never been a suspect, so is not a status change.
Exactly! POI or SUSPECT bears a very destructive stigma even if it turns out folks are completely innocent. Labeling someone as a person of interest sometimes happens due to public/ govern pressure. We have seen that before. However, with the label comes the obligation of restraint. At least that's how the public feels. If the case is far from an arrest, LE will not declare anyone a POI or a Suspect. Unless of course it is all strategic and left intentionally open or brought back to baseline. -Nin

There are others. I am not trying to say anyone is guilty or not guilty. Things are not set in stone, ever.[/SUP]

IF the car has anything to do with it, it could be that the perp broke a window at the church and then went to SWFA to see if any LE responds. JMO

Yes, but what is someone doing out that late on a Sunday night and stopping in a parking lot that close to the scene just a few hours before. It really may be connected. They say nothing good typically happens being out after midnight . . .
