"A fitness trainer and mother of three was murdered in a Dallas-area church Monday morning by a man wearing SWAT gear, police said."

"Boot camp-style exercise class participants who showed up at the Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Tex., around 5 a.m. found their instructor Terri “Missy” Bevers, 45, dead, according to the Midlothian Police Department."

"Fitness trainer Terri (Missy) Bevers, 45, was killed early Monday just before her boot-camp style class, police said. Participants in the Camp Gladiator class found her dead when they arrived to a Midlothian, Tex., church for the workout."

"Police Chief Carl Smith said a man wearing what looked like a tactical helmet, gloves and a heavy vest with "POLICE" written on it could be seen in security camera footage from the E. U.S. Highway 287 church just before Bevers arrived. The department released the 4 a.m. footage Monday afternoon, though Smith said no cameras captured the attack."

Questions have swirled around the suspect's identity, but Kristi Stout does not believe her sister-in-law died because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

'A lot of us, including myself, think she was targeted,' Stout told NBC DFW.

EVERYONE, PLEASE READ THIS POST BEFORE YOU POST ANYTHING ELSE

Dear Websleuths Members,

Again we find ourselves trying to moderate based on rules set up for other cases.

Once in a while, our rules do not fit with certain cases and therefore changes need to be made.

We will try and make this as easy as possible.

If you have a question send me a private message, please. Do not post the question on the forum.

FOR OUR NEW MEMBERS: WELCOME TO WEBSLEUTHS!

Websleuths is different than any other forum on the Internet. If you are used to forums like Topix then you are going to find out quickly Websleuths is not Topix. We don’t allow rumors. We don’t allow comments from Facebook or comments from other forums. We work hard to make sure everyone stays on topic. We allow and encourage appropriate sleuthing. Most of all we want you to become involved and enjoy your experience at Websleuths. You can review our rules right here: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?159-The-Rules

*Please no personal chatter back and forth. Welcoming someone back or making jokes at other member’s expense is not going to be allowed. The case is about Missy Bever. Please do not make the thread about you.

*If Missy’s husband posts pictures and posts on his personal public Facebook page it can be discussed and you can speculate.

*If you do speculate please do not make comments on their personal appearance. That’s just rude. You can speculate on their behavior but if you want to post something unkind about their looks please don’t.

*Speculation is allowed if it involves someone who has been named in the mainstream media and you can logically put this person at the scene of the crime or can suggest they were somehow involved. Speculation has to be based on some semblance of fact. In other words, you can’t speculate that the dry cleaning people killed Missy. The police have confirmed they believe Missy was targeted. That’s a good place to start.

*Speculation does not mean you can sleuth any of these people. Their lives have been turned upside down and the last thing they want to see is something personal and embarrassing posted on Websleuths for the world to see. No Sleuthing aka no digging into their backgrounds and posting what you find.

* Here is a hypothetical for you: Say you were face to face with the person you are getting ready to post about. This person also knows your real name. Would you say what you are getting ready to post to this person’s face? Please think before you post.

*We have an unfair advantage. We are anonymous. Your words are very powerful and they will be on the Internet forever. You will own those words when the truth is found out about Missy's murder.

To review:

*Yes you can speculate as long as it is logical and done in a mature manner.

*Yes you can discuss the pictures Missy's husband posted on his personal and public Facebook page. You cannot discuss any comments unless they are from Missy’s husband personally.

*Yes you can discuss all pictures/ videos as long as you can source them to a legitimate source . Do not post or discuss the Twitter picture that showed the face blown up. This looks like some sort of photo-shopped picture and it can’t be sourced

I am completely responsible for any confusion that has gone on in this thread. Sparky is doing a great job and she was doing what I taught her to do. I want to publically thank Sparky for her hard work and dedication.

OK Newbies and Old Time Websleuths Members, go forth and DISCUSS!

Sincerely,
Tricia Griffith

PS. Please forgive spelling and grammatical errors. I am half asleep as I write.

Police released the timeline and we know he was first seen on cctv at 3.50 because they told us

They also told us they have footage of his car in the car park on Motion Activated cctv

which leads to the interesting Q - do they have footage of him moving across the car park as well?

Since I posted this at the end of the last thread and the timeline is being discussed in this thread too, I will again post the official timeline here:

People keep commenting that the perpetrator hammers the drywall. That is not what I observed.

It appears to me he first approaches and attempts to open a door across the hall from the door through which he enters the corridor. Finding the door locked, he then smashes the narrow vertical window in the door with a hammer. There are pieces of tempered glass landing on the floor around him. Then he moves closer to the door, IMO, to reach through the broken window to open the door.

**Use of he/him should not be considered gender specific.

Pay special attention to exactly what the police say and write, and then how the media takes that and turns something similar, but more finite, into fact. I have seen this multiple times with this case. Examples include:
- Head wound - to media this has meant all sorts of things. She was beaten, shot, etc.
- 3:50 - suspect first appears on video - to the media this means s/he arrived at that time.

There are many more examples.

Re: your questions about the change in location of the camp:

This was the first day of a new camp. Each camp lasts 4 weeks, then campers have 1 week "off" (for most campers, Bold member still work out,) then a new camp starts. Perhaps for this new month of camp, the 9:00 am workout location was now going to be the Civic center or wherever is indicated in the post. JMO.

I hadn't thought about it being the first day of a new camp until you guys brought up that question. Start of a new month of camp usually means there are some new campers. FWIW.

All of this is MOO. Thanks.

I agree with this conclusion.

How do you know it was the start of a new camp? I got the impression that it was a new week (endurance?), but that maybe the camp had already been going (mb quote something like, "if you are using the same weight, you need to get more weight")

Not that it matters a great deal, IMHO

Oh wow! That must have been truly horrifying if any of the new campers were in the church when Missy was found. Really, horrifying for all of the campers. :(

You may have said already and I missed it but how many people are usually in a class? Is there a limit?

It was the start of a new camp according to the schedule that we are on. However, they could have been on a different schedule. And yes, I'll move on from this topic. Sorry to hash details. :blushing:

MOO

I know it is too late and many of you may disagree, but for some reason, I keep replaying in my imagination, Missy with a 38 special, either in her hand or secured in a belly band. I keep thinking that it could have happened that way if she were paranoid like me.

In my imagination she is a bit wary and even if the perp is really quiet as he comes up behind her, she is watching her back and does not hesitate when she sees him/her

With regards to the mention that the class was moving, the FB post that Missy made on the evening prior to her murder:

Missy was due to hold two (2) classes on the morning of 18th April.

The first class was to commence at 5am - with the venue as the Midlothian Church of Christ (outside, or under the awning if it was raining).

The second class (nothing to do with the Midlothian church venue) was to be held at 9am.

This 9am class was originally to be held at the Midlothian Conference Centre. This is the class that was moved to another venue - Midlothian Civic Center.

Both classes were cancelled.

<modsnip>

Can't imagine how mad the murderer is if he is a man considering many of us have commented he swung like a girl.

As a matter of clarification for this case's rules, what if a related party publicly comments as themselves in articles using Facebook or otherwise? Now separate from that, what if they subsequently reference those article comments on their own Facebook page? I've seen comments made that weren't a matter of sleuthing, but seeing what people were saying in the comments to articles. This isn't necessarily for me that I'm going to make a post just about it, but it's something that could come up again if related parties continue to publicly make comments as themselves in article comments or new parties start doing it who are mentioned in the media?

Testing. Is this thread really slowing down now?

I think everyone was reading and re-reading to make sure that we were not misreading. Lol. Thank you Tricia for the clarification and some additional room and Sparky for doing such a great job!
