GUILTY UK - Olivia Pratt-Korbel, 9, shot dead, Liverpool, 22 Aug 2022 *arrest*

The primary school pupil was killed shortly after 10pm on Monday night after a 35-year-old man, being chased by another man with a gun, forced his way into her house.

After hearing gunshots on the street Olivia's mum, Cheryl, opened the door to the family's house. The man being chased then pushed his way into the home.

The gunman followed, putting his hand through a gap in the door and opening fire. Cheryl was shot in the arm and Olivia fatally injured. T

There were two further shots at the 35 year old inside the house, hitting him in the body before the attacker made off on foot.

Friends of the man who forced himself into the house picked him up from the streets in a dark out and took him to hospital "while Olivia lay dying", said Chief Constable Serena Kennedy. The vehicle they traveled in has now been seized.

Detective Chief Superintendant Mark Kameen has given some more details about what happened in the lead up to the fatal shooting.

He says at around 22:00, two men were walking along Kingsheath Avenue, adding that they were approached by a lone person who was wearing a black padded jacket and a black balaclava and black gloves.

This individual was approximately 5ft 7 tall, of slim build and carrying a handgun.

He says shots were fired at the men who then ran away.

Nothing indicates Olivia's death linked to other recent shootings - police

We've had some more information from Merseyside Police we can bring you.
They say there's nothing to indicate that Olivia's shooting is linked to other recent killings in Liverpool but officers will be keeping an open mind to follow any potential leads.
They say the attack on the 35-year-old man was targeted and is believed to be related to organised crime.
Police say they have not yet spoken to the man, who remains in hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.
He is not under arrest.

Liverpool gun wars' innocent victim: Girl, nine, who was shot dead is pictured as police reveal hitman in black balaclava forced his way into her home while chasing other man off the street before opening fire also wounding her mother

Im absolutely stunned, 3 fatal shootings, in one week, in one region.

I find it hard to believe there isn't some link between the shootings.

The primary duty of policing is to protect life!

Sean Rimmer, 22 years, shot and killed on Tuesday 16th August 2022.

This was the first murder with a gun in Merseyside in more than a year.

Ashley Dale, 28 years, shot and killed on Sunday 21st August 2022.

Now we have a further tragic death of a beautiful 9 year old child, Olivia Pratt-Korbel, in the most horrific set of circumstances. Shot and killed in her own home, and her mother injured, on Monday 22nd August 2022.

Three gun deaths on Merseyside in a week and the police say there is no connection! Maybe not directly but it all flows from the same filthy, putrid source.

Gun crime is the domain of organised crime and to narrow it down, the battle for supremacy, territory and control in the supply of drugs.

Government, policing and society is failing catastrophically in the war on organised crime and all the dark, demonic places that it inhabits....drugs, people trafficking, modern slavery, forced prostitution, fraud, kidnapping, torture, serious assault and murder.

Police only respond to urgent calls, as they are stretched well beyond capacity.

Community policing is now a shadow of what it once was. It used to provide valuable intelligence from petty theft to terrorism and everything in between. People tell their local Bobby the things they would never report otherwise, because they are the visible, engaging and trusted face of the police service, and they know and care for the community they serve.

School, youth club visits and other opportunities to engage with our youngsters and positively influence them are no more. The police command need bobbies in cars firefighting the urgent calls because the resources just aren't available to build safer communities.

There is no hard hitting national policy, with ground breaking resources to target gangs and gang crime head on in all the ways it hurts. Target them mercilessly at all levels, harass them, harangue them, arrest them for the slightest misdemeanour and make them feel at the mercy of the police 24/7.....give them nowhere to hide.

Gang 'membership/association' should be a criminal offence per se and invite arrest, intelligence collection, parental sanctions (if under 18) and the opportunity for diversion away from gang culture with the support of educational services and local authorities.

This will only get a whole lot worse with more lives lost to guns, knives, drugs and torture unless the powers that be grab it firmly by the scruff of the neck and take back control.

We get the society we deserve. Apathy is not an option. Lobby your MP, your Chief Constable or Divisional Commander.

Make these public servants feel uncomfortable with the responsibility they have chosen to accept when they have failed to deliver. Let them be in no doubt what is expected of them.

This caught my eye...
(from the link above)

"She added that she wanted to appeal to Liverpool's "criminal fraternity" for information, as Olivia's death was "an absolute tragedy and crosses every single boundary".

- The word "fraternity"
as a positive one - is out of place in this horrible context
(granted, Im a foreigner and Eng is not my native language, but...
this sounds jarring),

- "crosses boundaries"
It sounds as if there is an unspoken agreement between LE and the gangsters.
Don't touch civilians.

Well, in my opinion, there can't be any agreements with the Mob.
It never succeeds.

Quite the contrary -
it emboldens!

MOO!!!

RIP sweet little Angel :(

Condolences to family.

Agreed.

Murder is murder. No matter who the victim is.....this is the premise under Common Law.

Although the murder of an innocent child, particularly in these circumstances, is beyond heinous.

If Merseyside police are indicating that there is a level of acceptance if a gang member is murdered, then they are already sliding down the slippery slope.

It's almost an admission that it's out of their control and they are now more concerned with keeping such violence from impacting directly on the wider community.

If that is the case then it is abject failure and the Chief Constable should go.

"Heartless friends of 35-year-old man wounded in Liverpool shooting that left nine-year-old girl dead rescued HIM but left her dying."
