GUILTY UK - Agnes Akom, 20, Cricklewood London, 9 May 2021 *arrest*

Now that I have read some comments I remember her. She was asking for help a few years ago on Hungarian UK Facebook groups when she became homeless with the baby. A lot of people tried helping her but there were issues and lies involved. I don't live in London so I was not involved just read the banter.

Whatever happened and whatever she used, noone should be killed full stop.
I hope she is found soon.

That's sad. So the baby was here in the UK then.

There's no update from the Met yet. The man was arrested on Monday iirc, so he'll have to be charged or released soon. Unless there's been some progress with locating her, I'm wondering how likely a murder charge will be.

I believe so but I don't know what happened to the baby, I hope she has a loving family.
I had to stop reading Hungarian comments because they are absolutely disgusting victim shaming. Just because someone has a rough life and an addiction, no-one deserves to be killed, I'm so worked up. That poor girl probably had a very tough life.
I read that her mum is in contact with Met, I truly hope she's not reading all that hate, my heart aches for her.

Do we know when the window of opportunity closes to charge or release? I realise that the reason I'm confused is because the Met press releases are saying he was arrested at 11.28pm on Monday 18th May... except that Monday was actually the 17th. So maybe they've actually had 24 hours' less interrogation time than I thought. Can anyone remember?

UPDATE: Man arrested in connection with disappearance of Agnes Akom

Bit of a howler! Hopefully someone made a note at the time.

Thank you, @dotr. I remember about the self-inflicted injuries now but I'd forgotten that the PACE clock gets paused. You would think we would all remember after the Sarah Everard suspect.

His injuries must be serious if he still hasn't been discharged from hospital.

Some progress maybe?

Police search behind car showroom 'investigating alleged murder' of Agnes Akom

"Police have been searching the area around a North West London car showroom as part of their investigation into the alleged murder of a missing 20-year-old woman.

The area surrounding Lennox Auto car trader on North Acton Road in North Acton has been searched by Metropolitan Police Homicide and Major Crime Command alongside forensics for the last three days, according to local residents.

One said this morning (May 21) there had been 'a lot of police activity at this address over the last three days', with 'around 10 detectives' talking to people and businesses.

He said: 'The Met Police serious crime team was here yesterday with dogs and specialist search teams searching alleyways. They had forensics here from Tuesday morning until today.'

A workman from the same industrial estate, Rebwar Ali, confirmed a number of police had been searching the estate for the last 'two or three days'.

A second local workman said he believed a man who 'lived in a shipping container' next to the car showroom had been arrested by police earlier in the week. He said he had never seen the man, but had heard him described by police as 'an older guy, grey hair and overweight.'

A worker at Lennox Auto said he recognised the man who had been arrested as he would frequently walk past the car traders, but said they only ever communicated briefly 'through mime, because his English wasn't great.'"

Hmm a Hungarian MSM states that the man arrested is a postman. I can't find this on UK news so linking the Hungarian site if anyone wants to Google translate. Tények - Postás ölhette meg a magyar nőt

Here you go:

"British police have been looking for a Hungarian woman living in London, Ágom Ágnes, who has been missing for more than a week. However, the case took an unexpected turn, as a 63-year-old postman was arrested for his disappearance and murder in connection with the disappearance of Agnes. The local Hungarian community knew the woman well: it was said that this was not the first time she had disappeared."

Very odd.

The man in arrested last week has now been charged:

Agnes Akom: Man charged with 20-year-old woman’s murder

Neculai Paizan, 63, was arrested on Monday, May 17 in connection with Ms Akom's disappearance and was charged with her murder on Sunday, May 23.

He will appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Monday, May 24.

Police say Ms Akom’s body has not yet been found.

Neculai Paizan is a Romanian name, so I reckon he's not Hungarian as well (but I'd go as far as to say that he could have been born in an area in Romania like Harghita or Covasna where there's a lot of Romanian nationals of Hungarian descent around and, thus, he might speak the language). Regardless, this reads like a typical sex worker rendezvous gone bad type of murder...except he lived in a shipping container so not the obvious choice for clientele I would think? Unless the drugs and everything else she was going through clouded her better judgement to the extent where she thought "well it, as long as I get something out of it"... Sadly we see a lot of these where the woman is usually Eastern European and much younger than the culprit (no offense, I'm also Eastern European myself so I know for a fact that poverty and the sheer despair to make some money to send back at home can make you extremely vulnerable to being manipulated and exploited). All IMO, JMO.

For some reason, I've been assuming all along that this was a pimp/sex worker murder rather than a punter/sex worker one, but now that I'm forced to ask myself why, I can't name a reason. I just have such a strong sense of her having been in wicked, coercive hands ever since she left home, aged 15. I expect she was deceived into coming here in the first place for a promised future that never materialised and was deliberately hooked on drugs to keep her compliant - and, depending on where and with whom it ended up, I daresay the baby may have been used as a way of manipulating her into doing what she was told too.

I am so glad he's been charged. I feel it may be the only little piece of justice in her short life.

I honestly don't think he was the one pimping her out. He's 63 now, 5 years ago when she came to the UK he was what 58, 59? From personal experience that's a bit old to still be trafficking girls over from Eastern Europe. It's usually the younger guys doing it because they've got too things going for them - the physical strength and perhaps the looks as well (and the latter can always work in their favour if they want to employ the "loverboy" method and bring through girls that are too in love with them to notice what's going on until it's too late). Neculai Paizan was described in some of the MSM articles as elderly, grey haired, overweight...and there's the living in a shipping container by a car dealership - not typical pimp behaviour and he was getting quite a bit of attention from the dealership people. He seems the desperate type to me, low self esteem, you'll see on one of the FB pages he's got no profile picture, on another his profile picture is a painting of two girls and on the third one a picture of himself from two decades ago at the very least. He's the typical punter or at least someone who'd befriended her, obsessed over her - her youth, her vulnerability - then, realising how many other men were roaming around her, snapped. Maybe she rejected his advances and he thought "if I can't have it no one can"... All JMO.

If she was telling the truth a few years ago on Hungarian Facebook pages, she came to the UK with her then partner and had the baby in UK. Baby was taken from them. I saw a few of her posts back then. I do not know her at all so this might not be true.

My theory is that she used drugs and to support the lifestyle she started to work as a call girl, my opinion only.

I hope her family can find her a give her a proper burial in Hungary. She was so young, addiction makes people make bad life choices. I really feel terribly sorry for her. People did want to help her back then, I wish they succeeded. Her uncle was commenting in Hungarian news about how sweet she was as a child. I don't know her family background but as she is from the poorest area of Hungary, she might have had a tough childhood.
I hope she is found soon.
