I’ll have a look on their website
Interesting - having said I saw no sign of forensics activity I now see there is a photo on this page of an Alecto Forensics staff member at the scene. If anyone fancies having a go at tallying the Yorkshire Live photo with the photos of Alecto staff from their website, we might get an idea of the sort of thing NYP are potentially looking at:

Good luck…
Third from left in that photo - same person as Yorkshire Live photo? Working from the Alecto site I see one possible specialist and one other I cannot exclude, which would appear to bring it down to archaeology/ecology (possible) or garment analysis (cannot exclude). Strictly MOO though.they worked in the Suzy case too the Alecto forensics
Personally,I think they must have something, either information from a credible source or the environmental survey turned up something relevant. It is a big deal with a lot of manpower so will be costly, and the fact that the police have alerted the media that they are searching specifically in connection with Claudia makes me think there is something significant here. They could have told the media any old no sense or nothing at all,or ruled out any connection to Claudia very quickly if their presence was unrelated. They have something IMO
Yes - the police media handling is interesting. It is very upfront and open and deliberately creates a high media profile to the search. This could just be to avoid an unhelpful rumour mill beginning.
But this approach is also sometimes used to rattle the cages of suspects and witnesses - giving them incentives to come forward quickly, so that their side of a story might be heard before others.
It's not costless. If they draw a complete blank, the high profile statements will leave the force looking a bit sheepish and potentially accused of raising expectations, wasting resources and disrupting residents unnecessarily.
Seems to be particular interest in a strip adjacent to the road by the larger lake. Clearing brush in preparation for geophysics/excavation? Indeed. This is why I believe they have something, especially with the way of the world these days where it seems there is always criticism of the police.
It's been a while since I read through all the threads, can anyone tell me if there was ever suggestion of Claudia being involved with a policeman? (I think it was a theory here at one point?) or am imagining reading that?
There have been occasional suggestions of a police connection, mainly in relation to CL’s visits to Acomb in the period preceding her disappearance - possibly due to the proximity of the police station to one of the pubs she visited there. Nothing has ever been substantiated with regard to this afaik.Indeed. I seem to recall that suggestion in the media at one point
Though as @Sarahaddison14 pointed out earlier, Alecto was also involved in the dig at John Cannan’s mother’s house in 2018 which was based primarily on rumour, with no previous finds afaik.I can't understand why the police would spend money on bringing in a private forensics team if they hadn't found anything to examine. Surely they have found something of interest.
To clarify - the 2018 dig was triggered by a claim from Cannan’s cellmate in 2001 that he had confessed to burying SL under the patio of his mother’s house.Though as @Sarahaddison14 pointed out earlier, Alecto was also involved in the dig at John Cannan’s mother’s house in 2018 which was based primarily on rumour, with no previous finds afaik.
Up-date as in a police briefing at 6pm?
I don’t think there is any link with poor Sarah Eveard, I believe that was a one of killing by the perpetrator who I won’t even name as he didn’t deserve the decency of that. Although Claudia was rumoured to be seeing a copper I suspect it was a local one as far as I’m aware Sarah’s killer was stationed in an entirely different part of the country.
