UK UK - Denise Jarvis, 43, last seen outside Sainsbury's, Kingswood, S. Glos, 3 Aug 2022

Don't know about anyone else, but I am getting a whole new perspective from this latest report as above. Maybe she didn't disappear voluntarily...?

ITA my thoughts jumped there too. Ugh.

When I read "struggling with mental health issues" I wondered if she had been treated for those, or was she actually just completely stressed out?

I don't know what to make of the argument with the police being called. It must have been quite explosive. Then packing up and leaving the next day? I figure she had a place, or someone, she was headed to, and hope it wasn't to someone evil who wanted to "help" her.

I can't believe I've never heard of her case before, and I'm from the UK and try to keep up with missing people.

Can't see her mentioned on any top / popular stories for the anniversary on the Beeb (app) so far, either. I'll go check out their website to double check (nothing as of 4pm - last article is from April).

Snipped - don't know if it's just me, but I see a weird discrepancy where the unfurled Missing People link in your post says she disappeared on the 5th Feb, 2023, while her page does in fact have the correct date of 3rd August. Maybe something in either MP's or WS's coding is causing it?

I don’t think that’s anything personally, just Missing People the charity maybe getting confused between 6 months and a year. Denise’s disappearance hasn’t generated the media coverage I would have hoped. I also think it’s poor there is no anniversary appeal from Avon and Somerset police. If there is any way Sceawian for to watch I think it was the last vanished show on channel 5 a few months back, Denise was featured and there was a proper reconstruction done on Denise. There was things said on that show that didn’t make any newspaper coverage and lead me to think maybe Denise’s disappearance perhaps could be more sinister.

The family of a woman who went missing a year ago say police could have done more in the days after she disappeared.

Denise Jarvis, 44, was last seen near Southey Park in Kingswood, Bristol, exactly a year ago, on 3 August 2022.
Her sister Rachel Graham said three months passed before Avon and Somerset Police started to "worry".
Det Insp Ben Lavender, from the force, said with hindsight things could have been done differently.
The officer said while resources were deployed according to the risks at the time and it was not until time went on the "risk heightened", CCTV footage in the days and months after her disappearance could have helped the investigation.
He said any learning from the investigation would be fed back into the police force.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Chief Insp Ben Lavender said: “We know how devastating this continues to be for Denise’s loved ones and our thoughts remain very much with them.

“We want to use this first anniversary as a reminder that we’re still appealing for information from the public. People have annual routines and events they may attend, so we’d ask them to think back to the same time last year to see if that jogs their memories.

“Every piece of information is important in our efforts to find out what happened to Denise.

“Our investigation will be subject to regular reviews and we’re ready to respond to any new lines of enquiry which come in.”

More from the DM here. Pictures of two of her rucksack style bags (stated is that she took five bags) that police found and have pictured today, but have not said where the two bags were recovered from.
Police admit that they could have done things differently.
