Metropolitan Police appeal ahead of one year anniversary of disappearance of Frank McKeever

Police continue to appeal to find Frank and are offering a substantial reward for information.

Frank, was last seen at around 22:00hrs on Saturday, 28 August 2021 walking along Highbury Park, close to the junction of Highbury Grange.

Frank was reported missing on 9 September 2021.

Frank is aged 63, is from the N1 area of Islington, but would also visit the Hackney area.

The Metropolitan Police Service is offering a substantial reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the location of Frank..

Officers are also releasing CCTV which shows some of Frank's movements, in the hope this will assist the public to recall the events leading up to his disappearance.

Despite an extensive investigation police, which includes searches of premises, open spaces, lakes and canals, police have been unable to find any trace of him.

The investigation is being led by detectives from the Specialist Crime team due to concerns that Frank has come to serious harm.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

On 28 September 2021, a 30-year-old woman [A] was arrested on suspicion of murder; on 10 October 2021, a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder; and on 7 December 2021, a 45-year-old woman [C] was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

All three have been released under investigation.

Detective Inspector Laura Nelson, Specialist Crime, said: "Frank has now been missing for a year and in all that time there has been no trace of him. He has not used his phone or his bank account, his disappearance is very out of character and this leads me to believe that this is now a murder investigation.

“The substantial reward being offered to find Frank shows our determination to find him and answer the questions about his disappearance. I am asking the public in turn to support us and tell us anything they know that might help us discover what has happened to Frank.

"No piece of information is too small; please make contact and tell us what you know, it could make you eligible for a substantial reward."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote ref CAD 3224/13Nov21.

Also from April 2022, this Irish Post article contains some extra detail, including the CCTV footage and a picture of a rucksack similar to one carried by Frank:

"[Police] have also released images of a rucksack similar to one that Mr McKeever often took with him and which hasn't been recovered. Police are eager to locate the rucksack and say they are not concerned about minor matters."

In a statement, Frank's family, said: "Please could you help us find our brother, Frank McKeever. It will soon be the first anniversary of his disappearance, as he was last seen on 28th August 2021. Our family had lost touch with him for some years, but we were so happy to re-connect with him last summer and were looking forward to being with him again to rebuild family ties.

"He seemed happy and positive about the future and he had remained loyal to his favourite football team Birmingham City. We really miss his cheerful and gentle personality and his sense of humour. He had a zest for life and loved chatting to people and was no doubt looking forward to celebrating his birthday on the 31st August and the bank holiday weekend.

"Sadly, he has now disappeared without trace and we are desperate for any news. We are very worried for his welfare and safety and will give help and support for anything he needs. If anyone has any information on his whereabouts, please contact the Missing People charity, or the police. A reward is being offered."

Thank you very much for picking this news up @TootsieFootsie.

The two who are charged are A and B, who were previously arrested. I'm curious to know whether C, an as yet unnamed 45yo woman, will also be charged.

This is social media for the two who are charged:

Thank you for updating this. His stepdaughter, wow. I wonder what brought it about.

The Sun report is interesting, because it describes Frank as having left "the couple's home in Highbury Grange", but the police news release states their addresses as being elsewhere from that, and indeed elsewhere from each other.

Man and woman charged with Islington murder

It is not quite how other MSM reports it either:

Woman charged with stepdad's murder who disappeared 'without a trace'

It was not my impression that they were a couple, and there's quite an age gap between them, but of course all of this took place over a year ago and their personal circumstances may have changed since then.

I'm glad it's now in the public domain that Frank married Surie's mother. It can be difficult knowing things that can't be said on-thread for fear of prejudicing proceedings.

A woman and her partner have denied murdering her stepdad, whose body has never been discovered. Frank McKeever, 63, was last seen walking along Highbury Park in North London on August 28 last year and has never been heard from since.

Despite an extensive investigation and a media appeal with CCTV footage of his last known movements, Metropolitan Police officers failed to find him and it was concluded that he had come to serious harm. Over a year after his disappearance, his stepdaughter Surie Suksiri, 30, was charged with his murder alongside Juned Sheikh, 47.

Appearing today (Wednesday, January 18) at the Old Bailey, both denied his murder and a second charge of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and were remanded into custody ahead of their trial.

A woman accused of murdering a stepfather whose body has never been found told police the victim was ‘very good at disappearing,’ a court heard.

Frank McKeever, 63, ‘vanished off the face of the earth’ after visiting Surie Suksiri, 31, at her home in north London on 28 August 2021 and his body has never been found.

Surie Suksiri, 31, had forced him to film a 47 second video confessing to abusing her when she was six, saying: ‘I deserve to be punished’, the Old Bailey heard.

Suksiri and her partner Juned Sheikh, 48, both deny murdering Mr McKeever.

They also deny preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body on or around 3 September 2021.

Suksiri was later befriended by an undercover police officer called ‘Nat’ and told her ‘I battered the out of him.’

She bought a £350 car and drove 80 miles to dump the body in a location the killers have never revealed, the court heard.

Sheikh claims that Mr McKeever left the house alive and well and that while he has not seen him since, he may well be still alive.

Suksiri claims that Mr McKeever stayed at the home for two nights but on the morning of 30 August she found him dead and Sheikh made her dispose of the body with him.

On 1 September 2021 the defendants made google searches for used cars including ‘cheap Ford Cars for sale in the UK’.

Prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones said: ‘There can’t be any doubt, can there- especially given what Suksiri was later to tell Nat about getting a car for £350 from- as she put it “a gypo”- that is what they were searching for here.

‘The two of them searching together for a cheap car, a seller being identified, his number being saved and then that number being repeatedly contacted by Sheikh that evening.

‘As I told you, the body of Frank McKeever has never been found. Surie Suksiri told Nat that she and her co-defendant had driven 80 miles to dump it, but she did not say where.’

Mr Emlyn Jones said the defendants had been aware of preventing police finding out where they dumped the body through their mobile phones.

The trial continues.
